  1. It's time to sit Flowers, DeAza, Tank, Dunn and play four callups in those spots the rest of the year. As well as Semien at second for the final month. Also sit Sale and Danks since there's no reason to put wear on their arms, maybe even Q. Team probably will lose anyway but it'll be fun.
  2. Tank is the definition of lousy hitter. Ballgame OVA. Sox lose. September should be interesting if Robin plays the dead weight.
  3. Tyler has Beckham disease. In a full season he gets hot twice and that's it. Two down.
  4. Conor got blown away there. One out. Two to go.
  5. I wish conor would slap a single to left. He got the fastball on the first pitch.
  6. Cleto, Bella and the rest of the relievers need to be sent to Pluto this offseason. Bring in a whole new crew next year.
  7. This season really went in the tank from an excitement standpoint. When Sox were 2 under .500 about a month ago, Hawk would get excited a lot.
  8. I know it doesn't matter but it would have been nice to see Avi get a big hit there and win a game.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 09:06 PM) Yes, he means hitting the ball well with the barrel of the bat. Not hitting if off the end or the handle. If you consistently barrel the ball, you are showing good hand/eye coordination and, so long as contact is made, you should see a good hitter emerge. Gordon Beckham is a guy who did not barrel the ball well. He'd pop it up, ground out, and generally create fairly weak contact. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 09:11 PM) Hitting it in the sweet spot. Makes a great sound. Scouts supposedly look for this. Thanks for the posts. I can't decide whether Viciedo or Flowers or Eaton or Dunn barrel it up well. Very few guys crush it like Abreu.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 12:56 AM) So if there is 30 teams and he is about 90th, that is a pretty solid #3 or 4 starter, which is what they need him to be. You should try to watch a game and just enjoy it instead of having to go reference Fangraphs to see if they can explain to you what you watched. I still like Danks. He makes a lot of cash, big deal. So do a lot of guys. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 02:06 AM) Dunn has a video game swing or something. He missed that ball by a foot. I still dislike Dunn. So shoot me. Can't help it.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) I was on a late flight to Arizona a few years ago. Maybe take off was like 9:30. A guy a few rows in front of me was rather tall and on the aisle seat. He reclined and put his legs in the aisle, completely blocking it. Every time a stewardess walked by or when they were giving drinks out, they politely asked him to pull his feet in and he always gave them attitude. A couple of times he BARELY moved at all, just to be an ass. What a jerk. I wonder at what point you get kicked off the plane. If you are blocking people from doing their jobs like the drink service and checking on passengers, I'd think that asshole was close to getting the boot.
  12. I still don't really get a feel of what you mean by barreling up. You mean getting great wood on the ball or the ball exploding off the bat? Some guys just don't make contact enough.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) I'm 6'3" and don't really mind someone reclining their seat. What makes me want to start stabbing people is when someone thinks the back of your seat is a nice handle to pull themselves up. I think somebody that does that oftentimes is just as dumb as a rock, more than intentionally being rude. Or so self absorbed they can't in any situation think about the other person. It's all about me, me, me.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 12:28 AM) Price absolutely got shelled by the Yankees today. LOL at high priced pitchers.
  15. Sox could add to their core by trading one of the lefty starters. You cannot go with four lefties in the rotation. One must be shipped in a blockbuster.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 11:55 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 8m Robin said today that they will try to play Konerko every game of that last four-game homestand vs. KC. Konerko is willing to do as much or as little as Robin wants. He did joke that if they play him too much, he might demand a trade I'd say that's bad news if you are the Royals. If he's ever going to get hot, it's against them who he owned during his career. Those four games are going to likely be huge for KC probably. If I'm KC I do not cut Chen until after that series. He has to start a game if you are KC.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 04:20 AM) Never thought I'd see that posted. But I agree. Credit where credit's due. That's what happens when players actually come through. They make the manager look good. It's all about the GM, folks. He's the one who brings in the players. If that 2-0 pitch from Putnam would have been blasted off the wall, Robin would have looked bad. Instead the guy popped it up to left and Putnam and Robin look good. It's probably an inch on the bat is all that decided the game there. Robin isn't special, but he's as good as most of the managers out there. He's just not one of the top 2 or 3. He fits right in with the rest of the pack.
  18. Finally a victory. Seven game streak is OVA. Stoney is like fathom. He sounds like he likes Putnam.
  19. If he gets a hit, I predict we get the "you've gotta be bleepin me."
  20. Basically there is nobody to choose from in the bullpen right now that would classify as a "good choice" to save this game.
  21. Putnam can shove it down my throat and make me eat my words. I am on the record here as saying his fastball just ain't good enough.
  22. Guerra is meat; he's cooked. He's done. Gotta yank him.
  23. Walters is up again. Should be interesting.
  24. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 02:56 AM) I like Robin - great sense of humor, great demeanor. I just don't think he is very smart. I think Robin is regarded as a very smart person.
  25. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 03:29 AM) How in the f*** does that stand?! This league is such a f***ing joke The league is a joke, but he by all accounts deserves to be OUT. Out by a mile. I know what you are saying, though.
