  1. I was reading this thread and saw the line about Konerko not pinch hitting. I've seriously almost forgotten Paulie is on this team. What a waste. If they are not going to use him at all, he should just retire. I thought he'd play more than this. Not editorializing about his playing time, just saying if this is his role, cut him loose.
  2. That ump should be fined. Single handedly cost us this game. I'm out. Pissed.
  3. Downs looked scared to death out there. What a stiff.
  4. Even with a huge crowd, this game has disappointing 'L' written all over it.
  5. Bases loaded nobody out and Sox end up with that. Yikes. At least it's 6-6, a brand new game. As bad as the 'bullpen' is, we do deserve to lose if Paulino comes out again for this half inning.
  6. Horrible at bat by Danks, but great slide. Tie game. Wish they'd take Paulino out and see what the 'bullpen' has today. Paulino's just going to give it back.
  7. Gillaspie reminds me of somebody at the plate when he's going well. Can't think of whom. What a plus when he's going strong.
  8. QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) Not sure if I've ever seen that kind of DP before with the third sacker in the middle of the play. That shift has to be so frustrating to a hitter. That was a bullet. Good job by Sox scouts.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 07:05 PM) Paulino's change-up hasn't been within a foot of the zone He's either a mop up long reliever or should be in the minors.
  10. This color announcer needs to talk into the microphone or speak louder. Can't hear him. I assume it's Huff.
  11. Chen got rocked in 3 2/3 innings tonight vs. Minnie. Can KC keep a guy in the rotation just cause he beats the White Sox? Guthrie is slightly better than Chen. KC isn't gonna contend. If we can stay .500, big if, we can be in this race.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 05:57 AM) Less than 14k in attendance? All things considered, that's shockingly low on a Friday night with warmer weather and Sale pitching. It'd be fun to go to a game with that kind of weather and that kind of crowd, just spread out and watch some good hitting. Sounds like the Sox are like they were as a franchise before the WS title. An afterthought. All the momentum from the title is officially gone. Ticket sales probably won't improve until we at the minimum win a division again. I still say baseball is an awfully expensive outing, but I know most of you disagree with me on that. The radio guys were complaining about the Royals' attendance here and they never once mentioned the cost of going to a game if you have a family of 3-4. Royals are in the same boat. Until they actually win something, nobody's going to go out of their way to attend and pay that kind of jack.
  13. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 03:40 AM) Anybody realize this team could be 9-3 if the pen would have held up. I like what I see from this team Eaton is the real deal, the grinder/team rah rah guy we've needed since Rowand left. That slide into home plate was AWESOME! Gillaspie is proving me wrong. He has a clue at the plate it appears and may be a guy who sticks in the bigs. Semien is a professional. I like his style. Abreu is electric. Lexi has been fantastic at the plate. Flowers has been what Flowers needs to be. Good start to be over .500.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) NO ONE WILL DO THIS. IF YOU GAVE A TEAM KEPPINGER AND THE $10 MILLION REMAINING ON HIS CONTRACT, THEY'D ASK FOR ANOTHER $5 MILLION BEFORE THEY GAVE UP A PROSPECT. I'm talking about getting some total scrub "prospect" for Keppinger, just a name. I guess the difference between me and some is I see no reason to play guys I consider detriments (Kepp, Beckham) over true prospects (Semien). Just because Jerry refuses to pay players to play for other teams we have to continue watching them until finally everybody is sick of them and they finally are dealt or released (Teahen). As good as the Sox front office has been, they have acquired some major stiffs (Dunn, Rios, Kepp, Teahen, etc.) and made a major mistake on some top draft picks (Beckham). We have a good player in Semien who has helped the team play .500 over a tiny but encouraging sample size. I want to see how we play bringing back the old buzzkill in Kepp/Beckham.
  15. I simply don't understand how Semien can start every day and yet will be shipped to the minors when Beckham and Kepp return. Makes no sense. Kepp should be traded for a Class A prospect; Beckham should either be utility guy or traded for again a couple low level prospects. Semien getting sent down will suck majorly.
  16. QUOTE (MEANS @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) would you calm the f down? all you do is post doom and gloom (the undertone in all your posts are like this) surprised you haven't blamed Robin or Dunn for this. What is your problem? Our star RF is out for the season and one poster had an interesting post how Piersall said it pisses him off when outfielders dive for the ball. I said if this is true, it's disappointing the Sox didn't tell Garcia to quit with the freakish diving for balls. Good luck to Garcia, but this is a huge setback to his development.
  17. I've watched Abreu highlights of his homers and his swing is the real deal. I'm confident of that. I mean we had hopes for Viciedo, but Abreu's mechanics are so far ahead of Viciedo it's ridiculous. I don't even fear jinxing Abreu. He's got the swing. He might hit an alarming number of home runs in his rookie season cause you have to wonder what's gonna happen when the weather gets hot. Hope the team can keep hanging around .500.
  18. Nice to see the Sox play .500 ball to start the season and do pretty well at home so far against divisional teams. Abreu's bombs and ribbies help a lot.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) Seriously...anyone writing this didn't watch Garcia's dive last week. Unless someone got him to stop doing that, he was going to damage something while diving. That poster who said Piersall hates outfielders diving for the ball intrigued me. If it is frowned upon, shame on the Sox for not instructing their guys better. Garcia's career now in serious jeopardy. Just another guy to fill one of baseball's DH spots now if he can hit well enough.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 07:03 PM) I was immediately back in high draft pick mode. I want to turn on the games to watch Abreu, Eaton, and Semien. I am looking forward to Matt Davidson coming up and Chris Sale starts. Other than that, I will check that Winston Salem box score and hope that Hahn can dump a bunch of guys by the deadline. What a f***ing downer of a day. You may not be watching Semien much longer once Beckham and Kepp return.
  21. Well that plain sucks. A whole season erased. He's going to have a tough climb to stardom. All we can do is wish him well.
  22. Yes, it's early, but we are 2-4 on the road, losing both series. The Sox are 2-1 at home. It is crucial the team keeps winning series at home, because if we suck at home again like last year, the record figures to be mighty similar to last year. Team is gonna have to at least win a bundle of home games IMO to avoid a horses*** year. Our pitching staff is way worse than last year IMO.
