  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 04:44 AM) Yes. I am sure there is a matchup coming up where he hits less that .417 against a pitcher we don't call CY because the entire team fails to hit him. I would have sat him in whichever game that might be. I feel if he needs rest, he needs rest. Sit him. You'd think maybe Flowers could connect against that soft ass s*** Chen lobs up there. Also, you may consider me insane after reading this, but I also consider law of averages. OK, AJ is hitting .417 against him. That doesn't mean he's going to rap 3-4 hits and improve that to .500. It means he probably will go 0-4 and lower it to the mean. I mean these numbers don't mean there's not an 0-fer coming. With your logic, AJ will ALWAYS rake against Chen so in 2-3 games from now, he'll be hitting .650 or .700 versus him. Look at it this way. Chen was due to get him out. I blame Flowers. Hit the f***ing slow s*** Chen flips up there like a halfway decent Class A player could.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 04:41 AM) Again, Chen is actually tougher on righties than he is on lefties. I agree we should have score 4+ runs easily tonight, but the fact that we didn't only magnifies the mistakes we did make. I don't know why the guy can't just LOOK AT THE DATA instead of going with the traditional righty-lefty/lefty-righty matchups every damned time. Who knows what might have happened had he actually put the players that had the best chance to succeed in instead of just automatically going with the traditional opposite matchup EVERY SINGLE TIME. Maybe Flowers and Beckham get hits off of Holland instead of the two easy outs that two cold guys off the bench were against a guy throwing 99. Is that too much to ask, honestly? I respect your arguments, but you do agree AJP needs some time off, right?
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 04:32 AM) Wait, so the board is collectively pinning a 3-0 shutout loss against Bruce Chen on Robin? Really? Not me. I blame the players. They were DEAD. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 04:34 AM) Do you read posts before you reply to them? Oops I think my post was meant for the other guy.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 04:27 AM) Viciedo absolutely choked on that flyball, short-armed it knowing he was about to hit the fence. The guy has been surprisingly good in LF this year, but not tonight. He also blew chunks at the plate with the bases loaded, swinging at a pitch that wasn't even close to being a strike. How many times do you think Manto has told him to lay off the inside pitch that the book says is his gaping hole? Blame RV all you want, but only if it's for putting Dayan in the lineup tonight. And that's a weak argument at best. What are you talking about? Dayan is our everyday leftfielder this year and they were throwing a lefty for goshsakes. We're sinking or swimming with Dayan. Did you see that bomb he hit the other day? That's why he's playing? Potential to do that more than 20 times a season. He drives me crazy as well, but he's our everyday outfielder this year no doubt about it.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 04:21 AM) Well you know where I stand on that issue. What is your excuse for not playing AJ when he hits .417 against Chen if it was absolutely imperative to play Dayan tonight? AJ probably needs a day off now and then. If we don't make the playoffs, the sole reason is head-to-head matchups vs. KC and Detroit. That's it right there.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 04:08 AM) Why don't you just admit that you take an immense pleasure in the Royals beating us and call it a year? Because I'd rather punch my hand through the wall than say that. The Royals are motherf***ers who own the White Sox. Pisses me off beyond belief.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 03:46 AM) We are trying to get a playoff spot, right? Sox looked like a team satisfied at a 5-game win streak tonight. AJ's wave of his hand at the ump said it all. We're defeated when we play KC ... defeated. Last night was a lucky one-run win. Tomorrow Guthrie mercifully ends the season series with KC's 12th win vs. the Sox. If Detroit wins we're one-game up and the schedule IS NOT in our favor. Thanks, KC for ruining our season.
  8. I haven't read the thread yet. Are we in good or bad moods tonight during this piss poor game? Ho hum, losing 2 of 3 to KC again is our destiny.
  9. QUOTE (Jbabs34 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 02:42 PM) Ok, i'll bite at this... hawk is awful, plain and simple. i don't care that this is his sixth decade in professional baseball and that insert player's name is the best he's ever seen. last night he said salvador perez was the best young catcher to come into this league in a long time....pretty sure he said the same thing about carlos santana 2 years ago. he's making sox games unbearable to watch with his dumb catch phrases and repetitive stories about ted williams and yaz ...can't wait till this asshat retires. I'll ask you this ... are there any announcing teams you like? Because I can't listen to almost all of them because they are such homers. Homers in terms of never uttering a negative word or close to a negative word about the team that signs their checks.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 04:23 AM) I vigorously disagree about the contract. Did you just see the Dodgers eat almost $250 million? I don't think any team would risk paying that kind of money for Rios with his past history of alleged laziness. He's having a great year. He'll remain a White Sox IMO with no offers coming KW's way. We just should be happy he's turned it around. Look at Cubs' Soriano. He's been a waste for years making all that loot. Rios hopefully has reinvented himself. That swing is a thing of beauty now.
  11. The thing people forget when they say Hawk is a homer is he also rips the White Sox. Yes, a MLB announcer who criticizes the team that pays him. Folks ... all the other teams employ broadcasters WHO NEVER RIP THEIR OWN TEAM. The Sox radio team can be critical as well. And I hear the Cub announcers may do it. So outside of Chicago, you get TRUE HOMERS cause they own't rip the teams they work for. I never hear Hawk get any props for being critical. Ask announcers of other teams if they'd even consider ripping the home team. The answer is no. Long live Hawk, Stone, Farmer and DJ and Melton.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 04:16 AM) There were plenty of people who would have traded him at this deadline just for the salary relief. I don't think there is any way in hell you move him this offseason unless you actually get a really nice package of young players. We acquired him so we could win. Now that we are winning, and he is showing you what you knew he could, you don't move him unless someone makes you. Quite frankly, KW won't be getting any offers for Rios. That contract is just too big. If he plays like this again next year, we'll all be happy in keeping him. It's not our money and Jerry isn't going to lower prices regardless.
  13. I may owe the board an apology for all my hatred of Rios in the past just as many of you owe me an apology for your hatred of Wise in the past. He's been quite a savior.
  14. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 02:58 AM) Garfein just said KC adjusted rotation, Chen tomorrow and Guthrie on Thursday. Thought we were going to miss Guthrie, let's hope we can scratch out some runs. Why do the Royals hate the Sox so much? Reworking the rotation so Chen and Guthrie, the Sox killers get a shot at us? What a weird organization. They live to beat the Sox and only the Sox.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 03:38 AM) So, he's doing well this year... Would anyone have traded him on July 31 like people griped about the last few years? No cause it's not my money. Besides he's earning his money this year unlike last year.
  16. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Outside of 1 or 2 plays, I've never seen Rios dog it. I'm not sure why he got that reputation. Meanwhile, AJ and PK dog it on nearly a daily basis, at least once, and have the reputation for playing hard. Baseball's a strange sport, I guess. He used to drop fly balls and had so many lousy wasted at bats. This smooth stroke of this season came out of nowhere. But that's the past. He deserves credit for what's going on now.
  17. Has the occupy movement accomplished anything? Are these people lunatics or OK?
  18. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) The medical center bill for my knee surgery last month was almost $6k for an hour long procedure. And that doesn't include the actual DOCTOR bill, which I haven't got yet. Each office visit, which literally was less than 2 minutes, cost $220. Can't WAIT to see that one. I've never seen anything like the current situation in our country regarding the medical profession. I've never had my insurance company OK all the costs regarding a trip to the doctor or dentist. They always dispute something that I have to pay. And as far as getting in to see the doctor? It's ridiculous. You can't get in and basically the attitude is they could give a s*** about the patient. I guess I have to keep looking to find a doctor who actually cares. Do any?? Maybe some of you are having good luck with doctors and your insurance companies. I'm not.
  19. Rios has done what he needed to do to shut up all those people like me who despised him ... excel. You play well and you shut everybody up. Case closed. Same with Dunn. Hit like Dunn has this year and it shuts up all naysayers. Good job, Rios. He's been so good I am not even against his contract right now. Pay the man. He's earning the money.
  20. Anybody in the area and want to go to the game? I'm tempted cause the weather is good, there will be no fans there and the Sox are due to finally play better against KC you would think.
  21. Is what Romney said about 47 percent of Obama supporters being government freeloaders the straw that broke his back as a candidate? He seems like he doesn't give a flip about the poor. Is he done?
  22. Great win. Kudos to all the Sox for splitting that series with Detroit. Would be really nice to get 2 of 3 in KC. We're due against the Royals that is for sure.
  23. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 17, 2012 -> 10:51 PM) I'm just glad my boss gave me the opportunity to go. Back to work for me. I have to make up the time but that was well worth it! Tell your boss he's a cool guy. That's impressiver you got to be there.
  24. I hate to be one of those fans but I just can't watch us play Detroit or KC. Drives me insane. So I better go back to work. Adios folks. GO SOX!!!!
  25. I can't believe Peralta was playing that deep. WTF? It's like the Tigers know their starter is throwing meat up there. Tough break. Sox deserve to be up 4-3 right now. Robbery.
