  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 05:08 AM) One thing that was lost in all my rage posts...I was very impressed with Santiago. 8 Ks in 4 innings is stellar. His only problem is that he gets into way too many deep counts. After he gets ahead, he gets too cute with his off-speed pitches. When he has that 95-96 MPH face-high fastball, it's hard to beat him since the hitters have to think about his off-speed pitches. That's why losing Mark Buehrle was so important. He knows how to pitch and he could help these young pitchers as much or more than Coop by example. Horrible decision to let Mark go.
  2. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 02:58 AM) The thing is we are Ragging on olmedo and rightfully so, but AJ had a big blunder too, it seems they were defeated from the get go Good point. If we are going to lose virtually every game against KC we might as well try something fun and different. Why not throw at all their hitters in one inning. Pick one inning and knock down three hitters in a row. Or let Dwyane Wise be the starting pitcher. Why not? Trying to beat them fair and square doesn't work. Shake it up.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 05:56 AM) You're probably not scared about getting raped because people aren't raping you all the time. See how that works? What do u think of Milkman not caring about prison rape? Why am I the one singled out here just cause I hate Holmes?
  4. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 02:11 AM) Have tickets for Wednesday. Took a quick gander at Stubhub to discover $7 tickets for tomorrow (500 level). Thats hilarious, because this is pretty much a playoff game. If the defibrillators I ordered on Amazon for this week get here in a timely fashion, I might just have to buy. Beer costs more than. I'm not one to bring up attendance, but you can rest assured that if the Cubs were in the Sox' position- up two games on the closest division rival with 3 weeks to go in the season- the s***tiest seats in their park would be going for around $50 and your firstborn child. Maybe if we packed the park every game the Sox actually could win a series against the Royals in the Cell. Do you guys think the Sox will be tight for this series again? I just don't see how many times we can go through the exact same scenario. Sox have a fairly comfortable lead on the Tigers, then get swept and that fairly comfortable lead is gone. We are not going to win the wildcards so this is it again. Do the Sox take advantage of the homefield and win three of four? Or do they, as I expect to happen, get swept? Kenny Williams tried to fire up the team by blasting it publicly after the last disaster in Detroit. That didn't work. So what does Robin do now? These are going to be hard games to watch again IMO. Cause the Sox are so damn tight when they play Detroit and KC. Sounds like the fans aren't going to help by showing up so what does Robin do to get the team to not be so tight?
  5. There have been so many agonizing losses again this year which again makes this team "team dysfunctional" once again. I thought having Youk around would cure the Sox of KCRoyals-itis and some other things. It didn't. Sox still lose in the most agonizing of ways.
  6. QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) How the f**K is Olmedo a major league player? Unreal. Just plain unreal. My 13 year old son would have swung better at those last 2 pitches. Oh wait...he wouldn't have swung as they were in the dirt and balls! Grrrr. Robin should have signed a one-day contract and grabbed a bat. Having Olmedo bat there was automatic end to the game. The fact the Sox in a 0-0 game in a pennant race couldn't score in the bottom of the ninth is utterly disgraceful.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) Nothing would make me happier than sweeping the Tigers and putting them out of their misery. It's safe to say that will not happen. I am expecting a Detroit sweep. No way in hell the Sox win more than one of the games. I frankly see no scenario in which a game against Detroit ends with us on top. Not anymore this season anyway. Same with KC. Sox were lucky to get one. KC of course will take 2 of 3 or all three when we play them next. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 10:25 PM) need to take 3/4 from Detroit the only way the tigers can regain first place is if they sweep You mean when they sweep. Sox stand no chance of beating that mediocre Detroit team head to head. Not in the cards this year. The sad thing is Q is toast and he pitches the opener which doesn't even figure to be a competitive loss.
  8. Sox don't deserve to win the division. Case closed. Thing is neither do the Tigers. Whoever survives will be an easy out in the playoffs. Sox's performance vs. KC is an utter joke, no other way to slice it. Pathetic.
  9. Is Lopez the worst player to wear a Sox uniform in the last 10 years?
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) Last 4+ starts, Guthrie's sub 2 ERA and arguably pitching as well as anyone in the AL. How's he doing if u throw out the starts against Chicago?
  11. Are we to assume the Royals will win the division next year based on their play against the Sox and their last series vs. Detroit?
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) For some reason, there's no KC broadcast on the MLB TV/DirecTV today. Since you're in the KC market, you're blacked out, everyone else in the country can get the Chicago broadcast. I can't say why I don't get a KC network, is it being carried on an unusual channel for you? No, it's just not on TV for some reason. It's on fox sports midwest all the time, but today that network has a poker tournament on. weird.
  13. Is there any reason this game is not on tv in KC today and I still can't get it on mlb.com? Blackout?
  14. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 05:20 AM) I'm going to make a prediction more Tiger fans show up at the Cell than Sox fans. So it will be like road games for the Sox. Sox still need to take care of business tomorrow. Will they have about 10,000 fans and the Sox eight?
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:54 PM) I, for one, do not care at all about prison rape. How come? Some people in this thread are going to be mighty mad at you. As a police officer, pls. explain. Ever since you said u were a cop I'm afraid of Milkman. Cops scare me. But I respect their authority. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 04:27 AM) Greg, do you, right now, as you are reading this post, fear being raped? Why or why not? Not really. But I guess if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time a kook like Dahmer could get you. That's kinda scary thought.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 03:00 AM) Somehow I have a feeling Greg775 must have thought this game would be at 6:05 p.m., lol. No comments yet from him. I was at the Kansas-Rice football game. I'd rather have been at Brother Rice vs. Bishop Mac. Charlie Weis' troops lost to the rugged Owls of Conference USA. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 03:19 AM) It is a Saturday, I'm sure Applebee's is busy Kyyle wishes I would go away. He got my profession right though. I am a busboy at Applebee's. How'd u get that right?? We have 2 Applebee's in the area; I shift to both. Good win by the Sox, though it appears Addison Reed almost blew another one. Sox have had one of the worst bullpens in America since the days Bobby was not so fat. I'll take any win against the Royals. I still have a sneaky feeling we lose 2 of 3. Sox don't have the desire when they play KC. Sox are incapable of taking the Royals seriously.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:10 AM) I think we outta plunk Lorenzo Cain tomorrow. He acted like he hit a game-winning HR in the playoffs after he hit the one in the 9th. We really need to get a little more physical against the Royals. They have no respect or fear for us right now. I don't think that will matter, though I wouldn't mind plunking him. Let's face it, we've had three straight important series with the Royals and we can't win a game. They've got our number this year. Let's face it, we have to grin and bear it for what, five more games against 'em. If it's five, we'll lose four or all five. It's just the way it is this year against KC. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:49 AM) The Tigers final 13 games come against the Twins & Royals. If we don't put some space between us & them soon they could run off a serious streak the final 2 weeks. While we have to face the Angels & Rays. The Sox have shown no signs of waking up against Detroit and KC. Our team should be so excited this weekend and early next week to get even against the Royals and Tigers. Instead ... 0-1 with six more disastrous outings to come.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:02 AM) Haha! Tiger fans so pissed! Why should they be pissed. They just have to stay close til that 4 game series cause they kno they can beat us. Right? We should be up by 7 games right now.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:05 AM) No, it's really not. I think people underestimate how much injuries have killed the depth on this team. Any team playing Lopez at this stage of the season deserves to lose.
  20. "He's the last guy that would every test positive for anything. He won't even drink an energy drink" - White Sox teammate on Pierzynski That's the post I liked the most. Go AJP! I hope he's our next manager whenever Robin decides it's not worth the angst anymore.
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:48 AM) NOooo, not those best record in the AL Rangers. The point is if you have a halfway decent team you take 2-3 from KC without much sweat at all, because KC's starting pitching is a joke and their lineup is a joke except for a couple hitters. If you have a good team, you win 3-4 without much sweat. Sox simply cannot beat KC.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) The footage I just saw of him blamed the internet and the fact you can put whatever you want on the internet. Its too bad that's what the game is turning into. You either suck or a must be on steroids. Look at Skip Bayless with Derek Jeter. And this thread, there were a ton of "it wouldn't surprise me" posts. The "Internet" I guess in this instance is this site and the other White sox site. But from what some of you were saying, it was on the Score. AJP should be told that. Other than that, he's prolly right that it was an Internet thing. And this place is part of the Internet.
  23. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:16 AM) LOL! Kenny wanted to show everybody in the off season how smart he was by bypassing Sandy Alomar Jr. and hiring somebody with no coaching or managerial experience just so Don Cooper can have more power. Now we all are paying the price. Serves Williams right. There are a lot of Sox pitchers Cooper now needs to fix. This marathon season has claimed a ton of them. Now Reed looks like s***. He's horrific. Quintana is toast. Liriano is a mess. Only Sale appears capable of a gem and he's continuing to look like a guy who needs 10 days off. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 03:24 AM) I am usually as optimistic as anyone here, but this team has lost its mojo...they know the Royals and Tigers own them, and they aren't focused. I hope they prove me dead wrong. Dead wrong. But I don't see them heading to the Postseason. And as Fathom said, the manager is not helping the cause. Exactly. They cannot beat KC or Detroit. Just pencil those games in as losses. Sox will be lucky to win two of their next six games. No matter who our hitting coach is, the offense is home run or nothing, which is fine when we are blasting home runs. The team can't get runners in from third base with less than two outs in games that matter. The team can't move runners. The bullpen remains crap no matter who the manager is or how much power Coop has. I think KC and Detroit are putting this Sox team out of its misery. It's a very very mediocre baseball team. I think Ventura will be manager of the year for getting it as far as it has gone. The starting pitching is average at best and the bullpen is one of the worst in baseball and the lineup is all or nothing HR wise. It's pretty bad when the Sox have no chance each and every time they play KC.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:05 AM) I think they're score a lot off of Chen tomorrow Are you serious?
  25. LOL at the White Sox. Embarrassing. No other word is accurate.
