  1. I 100% agree with you logically and rationally. It's my Sox-induced neurosis that is posting these thoughts right now. Until he's gone, I will always have this fear in the back of my mind.
  2. ...or to put it another way, until Keuchel is DFA'd and released (or ends up anywhere else other than our roster), I am concerned he'll hit 160IP.
  3. I understand the unlikeliness, but the fact that he's still in the rotation tells me his leash is super long. He can give up 6 runs across 6 innings each start the rest of the way while TLR give him time to "figure things out." Is it likely? No. We've done dumber things though, and I guess I'm more scared of the depths of this organization's stupidity than of anything else.
  4. I still am worried he'll hit his option... for more reasons than before.
  5. Yes - I am aware… however, you state that steroids are used for recovery (not increasing strength, and therefore velocity) in the case of pitchers. Former gym rat myself (now just a runner because I’m lazy) I guess my questions are: 1. Would “not losing velocity” not count as an increase of sorts? 2. Wouldn’t you be able to increase velocity through all of the other forces that would be able to increase (leg / core strength, etc.)?

  7. Had to look it up myself to make sure it was an actual positive test vs. just symptoms
  8. Maybe this is our way of getting revenge on the Yankees. give their archnemesis easy wins.
  9. Seconded. The second Cease gave up run #1 we lost any chance at winning, so might as well just act like it. Time to see what Mr. Energy can bring from the mound.

  11. Luckily we had an off day yesterday + Thursday + next Monday... so not like the 30 games in 20 days or whatever it felt like.
  12. Engel. Pollock in LF / Vaughn in RF.
  13. Still curious to see the breakdown of costs for $2K for travel baseball for a kids’ team. I have a hockey background, and the fees for a local travel team were about $2500… for a U16 team. That included ice costs ($250 / hour X 3 hours / week) and uniforms.
  14. Is it better to shut down Kopech a couple of times for a couple of weeks, or is it better to have him go out every 5 days and only throw 40~50 pitches for those starts?
  15. Fatigue recovery can lead to longer sustained velocity (less velocity reduction over the season), no? I'm quite curious about these sorts of topics (they've always intrigued me), so if you have any sort of formal expertise I'd love to learn more.
  16. If he regains his form last year (or something close to it), Lynn may be the best option in the playoffs. Right mentality, and he'll have the freshest arm of any of the comparable alternatives.
  17. Unfortunately that 13-7 record is tied with the Twins over that same span.
  18. ...and by "a nice problem to have," I mean "being able to demote a Cy Young vote recipient from the #1 spot in the rotation to #3 ~ #4 because other guys just got way better presumably without the original guy regressing" is a nice "problem" to have.
  19. Honestly a nice problem to have. If healthy, a rock solid 1~4, albeit with significant restrictions on the workload of one of those four (Kopech). Hoping that between Keuchel's impending demotion to the bullpen (at least part-time) and VV / ReyLo being able to be used as heavy-workload swingmen, we would be able to manage Kopech's workload down the stretch.
  20. Love that Donaldson came up with the game on the line yesterday and popped up. TA came up and delivered.
  21. Anyone else think Hahn will trade for Hicks midseason?
  22. Knowing this team, it’s still possible. give us just enough hope to make it hurt
