  1. I would have been fine with McGuire (or anyone other than Leury) pinch hitting for Grandal there, in all honesty. It would at least show some semblance of accountability / meritocracy.
  2. https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-intentionally-walk-trea-turner-on-1-2-count Scott Merkin wrote about it. It's linked from the front page of MLB.com. You can hear someone in the crowd yell "TONY!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING??" Also, the look on Mendick's face (in response to the look on Freeman's face) is priceless.
  3. Tying run on 1st with 1 out. Hoping Yaz goes back to his patient self with Hudson, who seems to have issues finding the plate.
  4. I still keep waiting for a gem like this from The Onion on TLR: https://www.theonion.com/lou-piniellas-first-big-move-as-cubs-manager-is-to-resi-1819568767
  5. Bases loaded with 1 out now in the 9th. Nice AB by Moncada.
  6. ...after Hendriks was up and running in the 'pen. Just as a reinforcement of the white flag mentality.
  7. The "via @NBCSWhitesox" citation is a nice touch.
  8. Too bad Kimbrel isn't available for the save opp (paternity leave)
  9. Bases loaded, no outs again. Down 5. Predictions?
  10. Re-posting the tweet here: Muncy is 100% right.
  11. See: my avatar. AJ's walk-off from 2005 against the Dodgers.
  12. Damn. Would have thought that Freeman would strike out with the bases loaded. He is the starting 1Bman on my fantasy team, after all.
  13. Driving in 2 runs from a bases-loaded-nobody-out situation? I'll take it.
  14. Or when you get hit in the elbow to drive in a run.
  15. Hoping that it was a matter of just getting his work in and working on locating pitches, etc., regardless of the outcome (or situation). That said, not really encouraging.
  16. Gavin Lux... clearly a bright spot on that Dodger team </engineering dad joke>
  17. On a positive note, our hitters so far don't look completely lost. Actually liked Jose's and Pollock's AB's.
  18. Is my way of thinking antiquated in that you want your strongest defenders up the middle? Until last season I had never heard of so many people suggesting to move questionable defenders from the corner infield spots to 2B. The only other time I have heard of a move to 2B for subpar defenders is if said "subpar" defense came at SS. ...am I missing something?
  19. I wouldn't even say that we disagree on that, at least on an individual performance level. Players at this level SHOULD be accountable for their own performance. Where we disagree I think is that once you start to stack up all of these shortcomings, the aggregate blame falls on the coaching staff.
