AND THAT'S A BENCH CLEARING WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
FoxForce2 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm an old guy and events like this bring to mind memories... Sandy Koufax had a low hit-batter rate, but stated "I don't throw at batters, but to avoid going inside hard and high/low isn't good pitching. I attack hitters." Taking that into account, I think Martinez is right on this AND I liked the slide. But as I said, I'm an old guy. -
Or two. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get Vaughn, et. al. a game at first and it might be hard to keep Abreu off the field against the Tigers this weekend.
-
From a batting POV, you've got a good point, but have you seen Yas run lately? lol
-
While I would've preferred the Iglesias pickup, -at the time- I can see how Kimbrel would look awfully good. I argue that the Sox did need relief pitching, just that we didn't need another closer. The American League hasn't treated Kimbrel especially well this year, at least in the role of set-up, and as I recall, he wasn't especially effective in his last year in Boston. But this is all spitballing - the season that matters now starts next week.

Yeah but at this stage of the season, it's highly unlikely that TA moves off the #1 in the playoffs. Team chemistry and the interaction of personalities is a variable that shouldn't be overlooked. Over the course of a full season (next year), I'd approach TA with the notion of him batting #3 and slotting the Yoan that we've seen this year as the #1. I'd hit Yas #5 in your lineup. Obviously, Left-Right matchups and a case of who's hot and who's not would factor in as well.

Not too big on the Jimenez ride I see. Leury's been hitting quite well in September.

One thing about Robert is that he's only now completing a full major league season and spread over two years at that. At this point in his career, I prefer Robert at either #2 or #5, but as a lot of scouts and analysts have said - a manager can hit Robert in almost any slot with good results. Lineup construction has been a hot topic ever since the advent of Sabermetrics which significantly alters the more traditional lineup placeholders and the traits one wants in each slot. The arguments about the topic continue and there are some people that provide long term stats showing that there really isn't much difference between traditional batting orders and Metric-tweaked lineups. There are numerous sites that go through all this and the OP has probably seen them, but this is a betting site that lays out a few of the ideas on the subject: https://www.sportsbettingdime.com/guides/strategy/batting-order-sabermetrics/

I'm eliminating everything else on this post. I appreciate your insights re: anatomy and the effects of activity and dynamics performed by the human body; However: How exactly, does "my' glenohumoral joint differ from someone else's? Is a male's joint different from a female's? But more importantly, you refer to this joint as being designed. By whom? By what team? By what individual? Where can 'they' be contacted? Did 'they' design the entire human body - or was it a collaborative effort? i.e. among a set or group of agencies. The human body - or any mammals body - is an extraordinarily complex and effective system. But to imply that our bodies have been 'designed' by some outside agency is more than a bit of a reach. Go Sox beat the Astros.

In 2008 I was 55 writing ISO 9000 (ser) packages and wondering why the Sox ever let Rowand go. As for dating --- my first game at Comiskey was along the infield third base line at a sparsely attended stadium in 1961 and seeing Maris hit one out to right center - I think it was off a recently acquired Ray Herbert. Maris hit 13 against the Sox that year.

Trading equal quality pitching potential for equal quality hitting/fielding is 'usually' the wrong choice. Re: Occam's razor.

I would imagine the Einhorn inheritors (among others), have some idea of who owns what.
-
Yeah, I understand that. And have read that, at least at last report, that JR has directed the executor to outright sell the team upon his death. I was simply searching for a listing of ownership in ChiSox Co. As far as I can tell, JR has control even of the sale of shares i.e. there are no sell/buy back options without his approval. The owner of ChiCox shares can only seek JR's approval to move stock regardless of the size of that piece of the pie
-
Searching White Sox ownership and corporate structure running Google and DuckDuckGo browsers doesn't reveal much insight at all. Forbes estimates JR's direct ownership at 19%, but there is little, if any, info on how much he controls (either directly or by proxy), the remaining 81%. No info on how the other 81% is distributed either.

I scanned through this thread so fast that I missed your posting of this link and posted it separately. Sorry about that. Yeah, the rumor has been around for awhile.
-
This has been rumored for several months now and *supposedly* there is a tie-in to Lucas' wife via an interest in Ariel Investments. Additionally, JR's two sons have been reported to be seeking an independent piece of the Sox pie. The latter has some credence as JR has addressed the point. The separate Lucas/Ariel tie-in is a rumor that has yet to be verified. 9-19-21 White Sox Winner !! 7-2 over Texas
FoxForce2 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For as many outstanding High School and College players as the state of texsa (sic) produces, Dallas, and even sometimes Houston exhibit exceptionally low baseball IQ re: MLB caliber play and the MLB stadium experience. "OK so this guy just hit one out of the park, so why is it only worth 4 points? In football that is worth 6. Is 4 some kind of big deal? Sometimes it isn't even worth 4 - I don't get it" . -
So Vaughn, in his first season as a Pro Ball player, is having some problems with his get-away stix over the course of a 162 game season. Color me shocked.

9/19 White Sox @ Rangers 1:35pm

Fair enough. I vote that Eloy lays off a lot more first pitch stuff, breaking ball or otherwise, for awhile. Now if I could only find the ballot box... Maybe a video analysis session with Yas over a couple of hot dogs and 7Ups. -
Hey! J. Shields was a reasonable #4-5 starter, solid clubhouse presence, and worth every bit of $5-6 mil/year. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr wait..................................
-
Pretty sure McNertney is pulling a garden variety troll.
-
I don't see how this is an either/or case. Projections indicate that Baez will cost $15-20 mil/year (maybe more.) Just as a comparison - Profar or Taylor will get something like $10-12 mil/year. From a cost effectiveness angle alone the latter two are better options. Then the team chemistry side comes into play. Baez is a high profile personality - is he really a good fit for this team? That and his often extreme hot/cold plate performance swings make him a questionable option for the Sox. Depending on how Popeye and Gonzales are viewed and projected, I don't know that the Sox even go as high as the Profar/Taylor level contracts. There may be a 2b near MLB ready prospect in another team's system that is blocked ala Burger. i.e. there are several paths to consider. I just don't see Baez. And as a fan - don't really want him. But then I was dead set against the whole Machado nonsense from the start - which says more about me than any of these guys. I'm still waiting for Hahn's call on this matter - plenty of room on my voicemails.
-
At least in Kimbrel's case a pick-up-the-option and trade isn't out of the question. Considering Hernandez' career numbers, I don't know whether this year is just an anomaly for him or that he's on the downslope of his career. A pretty steep slide at the plate here in Chicago but at least he's still a first class second baseman and that's worth something. I threw up in my mouth a little bit on the Baez idea.
-
The only thing debatable about signing Leury is what kind of contract he'll get. Indispensable guy for the next two years anyway.
-
Give Eloy a take on the first pitch for a few games. If he doesn't want to go along with it - he can grab some bench.
-
Your point?
