  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) We jinxed the game thread yesterday. Who was the one who'd started it the last two "DeAza" victories in a row? Well....I guess you can say Ozzie putting Rios back out there had more of an effect than the SoxTalk jinx. Ha it was me. At least Dunn isn't batting 4th today, although 5th isn't that much better
  2. So apparently I don't get to make the game thread huh? Well if we lose it's on you for breaking the rules!
  3. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) I don't think Q gets moved unless Phils don't get Pence, and the Phils really seem to be all-in on Pence. Watch it
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) Omar Vizquel says hi. Don't go saying how surprised you are about who people on this board know when you've been keeping this little secret for so long!
  5. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) White Sox/Rockies trade? Wow. That would be between arguably the two worst GM's in baseball. That said, I think Danny O'Dowd is serious about trading Jiminez, but his job would be on the line. Media in Denver is lined up to crucify him, IMO. Jiminez pitches Sat vs Pads. Yanks and BoSox have a lot more to offer. Um, no.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) Does Konerko rake Wakefield, or am I thinking of Lillibridge? Either way, I think Paulie will kick ass tonight. 9-36 2 HR 6 BB 7 K http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_...8/tim-wakefield
  7. Well Omar is 21-59 against Wakefield for his career with an .818 OPS Also, you'd have to think this is the kind of pitcher Dunn would have no problems with right?
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) That would be 3 straight starts of hitting Lester hard. How many times would it have to happen to not be a fluke? Sometimes a great pitcher has a team he struggles against. If baseball is funny like that, why can't something like that happen in the playoffs? We aren't talking about 162 games either, we are talking about a single 5-game series. If the Sox pitch well, which can happen, they still have no chance to beat the mighty Red Sox? Not a team, but since I follow the Marlins I know that mike Redmond used to flat out own Tom Glavine. Made no sense
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) 6 games is not enough to properly gauge how you match-up with a particular team. By your logic we can beat the Red Sox, Yankees or Rangers but not the Twins or Royals. So basically it all comes back to saying anything can happen over the course of 6 games. Correct?
  10. Pierre 7 Vizquel 5 PK 3 Dunn DH Q 9 AJP 2 Alexei 6 De Aza 8 Beckham 4 Floyd 1
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) The White Sox haven't been over .500 since April. Boston is playing at a damn near .700 clip since mid-April. Yes, it's painfully obvious that they would be massive underdogs. Being massive underdogs =/= having no chance
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) Not if you believe one team is clearly superior to the other. I don't believe any central team has a chance against Boston or NY. Yes, anything can happen. But going in, I don't think we'd have a shot. So you don't think anything could happen then?
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) I don't care about any year prior to this year. This is by far the best Red Sox team since '07. Until this team blows right past .500 and consistently scores at a 4.5-5.0 run a game clip, there's no business at even insinuating that they could run with Boston. For a season? Absolutely. But for a period of 5 games? There's absolutely no business even insinuating that they couldn't
  14. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) I realize its an inflammatory thing to say...just feels like we are going to win just enough to make it close and flame out...Sorry for being so negative and cynical No, it's fine if that's what you think, but to say anyone who thinks otherwise is nuts is a pretty naive statement to make given the nature of the playoffs and the recent examples of teams who have succeeded in them
  15. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) If anyone thinks we have a chance of anything more than a division title, they are nuts The 2006 St Louis Cardinals say hi
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) The Elf will be around unless traded, he's proven to be an excellent backup so far, and D2 hasn't clearly outhit him. I'd guess that, unless D2 suddenly flashed enough in these next 2 months to convince everyone that his K-rate has dropped dramatically, he'll get one more shot at Charlotte next year as a starter. After that, who knows, D1 will probably be gone anyway. If he doesn't regress any at all for the next month I'd guess he's here in September though. If for nothing else than as a defensive replacement
  17. @Buster_ESPN Buster Olney Braves view those four guys as a hugely important part of their future; I seriously doubt they would move them for any available player. He's referencing Teheran, Vizcaino, Minor and Delgado
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) BABIP can fluctuate quite a bit from year to year. His K's are down and he's improved with his control (though his command sucks). His HR rate is WAYYYYYYYY down. His FB% is also the lowest it's ever been. Overall he was a pretty good pitcher for us over the past season - especially after the first month
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) That's someone just messing with it. Look at the 2 lines about the trade. Nothing there
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) And that's due to his HR/FB ratio being abnormally low. But having nothing to do with his BABIP being abnormally high or his BB/9 being a full walk better than his career average?
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) DH/1st. Dunn could play RF. Everyday. But then where would Heyward play???
  22. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) Where would he play? Touché
