  1. I also liked The Unusuals but that was only around for about half a season. And Raising the Bar was really good too, I wish that had more of a following
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) Agudelo looks like he has star potential. Very poised for an 18 year old and had some impressive plays. I really liked Shea as well. I'd love Agudelo to get some actual playing time over in Europe. Portuguese league or Ligue 1 perhaps. I do not want him going somewhere like Villareal like Jozy and not play, he's too young for that, but starting off somewhere a step below the EPL/La Liga/Serie A could be awfully beneficial to him
  3. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) have any folks actually watched Escobar? Does he have any chance to be a big-league regular? can't imagine Morel and Escobar on the left side of the infield as a viable offensive combination. Well his defense is supposed to be top notch and SS isn't exactly an offensive juggernaut of a position anymore so he has a shot. He's only 22 still so it'd be nice if he could develop better on base ability. His K rate is about 20% right now so if he can get it down a little more and hit for a higher average he could do alright. He'll probably at the very least end up as a decent utility infielder.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) This is getting out of control. Pull your tongue out of his ass already, jeesh. That times eleventy
  5. Brek Shea was impressive, and so was Agudelo. Jones and Beckerman didn't wow me at all and Buddle didn't do anything. I really wanted to see Adu in this game. Torres looks good on the ball but he doesn't defend at all. I thought they looked very impressive the last 20-30 minutes, so that was promising. It will be interesting to see what the starting XI looks like in a year when WC qualifying begins. I'd say only about half were present today.
  6. Interesting article on the Blue Jays possibly stealing signs
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) The Tudors? They had 5 seasons. What more was there to tell? I'd go with Rubicon, which was just starting to get really good. His three children who had their stays on the throne. They could have easily done three more seasons and it would have been just as good if not better. As fascinating as Henry VIII was, his children's reigns did not disappoint or let down at all in the interesting department. His children were on the throne for the next 50+ years. There was a succession crisis, more Catholic vs Protestant issues (Bloody Mary), Jane Grey, numerous revolts, scandal in Elizabeths court, etc... It easily could have been continued.

  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) 1. Allen/Pena flop 2. Swisher I 3. Swisher II 4. Javy deal (unless you feel Lillibridge was the main target and not Flowers and are willing to buy it just as a salary dump) I read through that thread earlier today...consensus on this board was we got a great haul for Javy and KW did a good job with that one 5. Jackson/Hudson/Holmberg 6. Teahen acquisition and extension 7. Juan Pierre Meh, hard to really b**** about it 8. Manny Ramirez 9. Crain hasn't even looked like a great signing considering our commitment going forward GMAB he's been fantastic this year 10. Paying Thornton like a psuedo-closer with his extension After his rough patch he's been very good back in the set-up role 11. Rios 12. Dunn No. Only like two people on this site have any right to say anything about this. This board (and pretty much every analyst or media member) LOVED the trade 13. Peavy (not the deal itself, but what has happened since) 14. Ohman (mehhhhhhhhh, wasted money) Again, you apparently haven't noticed how well he's pitched this year. 15. Being "All In" with a one pitch closer and Brent Morel as your starting 3B Everything KW has touched has turned to crap. If this team just stood pat after 2006 (with the exception of the Thome deal) or 2008, we'd be 200% better off than we are today without all of Williams' incessant tinkering and fixing and adjusting. Allen's power numbers, Carter's power numbers....even Brent Morel's last year in the minors, pretty much meaningless at this point. Yawn, really? First of all, first statement there is just not true. And secondly, you have zero idea what would have happened without those moves. None. Saying something like that with such certainty is ridiculous
  10. This should be a list like knightni used to do
  11. Wasn't there a rumor involving Reyes coming to the Sox a few years back? Or if not a rumor, at least people here bringing him up when he was in Atlanta's system?
  12. 24, ER, Dexter, NYPD Blue, The Practice for dramas Seinfeld, Friends, Always Sunny for sitcoms. (Parks & Rec is climbing the charts currently) As a kid, Thundercats
  13. Watched sunday's episode of Curb last night, wow this season has been good. Couldn't stop laughing
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Rios seems to be coming out of it, Pierre is the LF'er of choice and Quentin is hitting. De Aza play but I don't think this idea of having to se him agaist lefties, etc, makes any sense. We are still trying to win ball games not look at next years tlent. He can come in and play later in a game like he did yesterday and when we need to make some defensive moves. This is not an issue IMO. Adam Dunn is 3 for infinity against lefties and there was nothing wrong with De Aza's numbers against lefites in Charlotte (.750 OPS) so I don't know why people keep saying this
  15. Dunn batting 7th tonight. Finally being moved down in the order. PK at DH so no De Aza again
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Yes. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) Either way, the Hudson/Jackson trade was bad. However, KW would then deserve credit for the Jackson/Teahen for Frasor/Stewart swap. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) There you go. Yes I get that, it was a bad trade and nothing changes that. But hypothetically, a couple years down the road, if Stewart ends up as good as or better than Hudson, how can you end up displeased? Because it's not as if you can say "well we could have had both"
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) If Stewart comes out and gives us a sub-4.00 ERA as a starter in a year or two, then I'd still hate this trade, and I'd count Stewart for Jackson and Teahen as one of Kenny's biggest trade wins. So if Stewart ends up as good or better than Hudson the initial trade would still bother you?
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 05:39 AM) Maybe it's Anne Hathaway's glasses that don't do it??? Who is in that second picture? Looks like Maria Ozawa??? Halfway through MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, having studied Hemingway, FS Fitzgerald, Picasso, Gertrude Stein, TS Eliot, all those 1920's Parisian writers/artists/singers/poets/painters....I love it. Maybe it's because I am a big Owen Wilson fan, and he's almost perfect for this role. A lot of people have either a love or hate reaction to this film, though.
  19. What was wrong with what Oney said? He wasn't wrong, he wasn't profane, he didn't use abusive language and he didn't personally attack him. Childish? Eh, maybe. But Valentine's comment could have (should have) been worded differently anyways. This isn't really a big deal at all.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) He hasn't even broken a sweat.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) And make them more of a joke of a program. Not all attention is good attention. That court would be a joke, it's something a high school would even think twice about doing. Eh, I don't know if it would. Boise has the blue turf, Eastern Washington has red, Oregon has the ridiculous basketball court. It would draw attention that's for sure, and I'm not sure it'd be a bad thing. It could even end up serving as a significant home court advantage
