  1. QUOTE (gatnom @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) Edwin Jackson with the White Sox in 2010: 3.24 ERA. Edwin Jackson with the White Sox in 2011: 3.92 ERA. I'd say that constitutes as reverting to a lesser form. 2010: 3.17 FIP 2011: 3.21 FIP
  2. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) how about Quentin for Jayson Heyward, now that would be something Only if they throw in Freddie Freeman
  3. It's Klinsmann As an aside, does anyone know if the roster for the Mexico friendly next week has been revealed yet?
  4. So apparently that Brown/Singleton/Cosart proposal was BS
  5. Marcelo Bielsa would also be an interesting choice
  6. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 02:20 AM) CQ will not land Dominic Brown. Agreed 100% But Domonic Brown? Remains to be seen
  7. Danks has just 3 strikeouts in his last ten games (32 AB) with 4 walks and a 900+ OPS
  8. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) GrantWahl Grant Wahl US Soccer insider: "You're not going to be surprised" by identity of new coach. So basically it's going to be Klinssman Just please no to Lippi. That rumor is out there
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Apparently Teheran and Vizcaino are untouchable. Which leaves Minor and Delgado. In which case you ask for Lipka or Pastornicky to be included as well
  10. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) Danks value will be lower in February, as it stands the team who gets him has 1.5 years of control, a February trade makes him a one season rental add to that the other pitchers that will be on the market/free agents this winter and Danks' value now is as high as it will ever be. I know, I obviously meant it will higher in February than in next July, at the next trade deadline
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) I'm always amazed at how many people on this site are friends with actual MLB players.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) If the Sox want to move Danks, they won't move him now, unless of course we get swept or the team goes into full sell mode. I expect the Sox to continue to retool in the off-season and part of that retooling will likely involving making one last offer to Danks and if he doesn't accept, will involve moving him to another team. I agree with this. They know his value will be a lot higher in February than in July and if he doesn't agree to an extension then he won't later. They'd be foolish not to trade him if that were the case.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) and 3 Churros hence the need for the initial port-a-johns
  14. Hideki Irabu, dead at 42, possible suicide
  15. http://twitter.com/#!/Ken_Rosenthal/st...630168222830592
  16. Flowers has 92 games of experience at 1B in the minors, but none over A+ Couldn't find anyone else who had any real experience there (Omar and De Aza have 1 game)
  17. QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) This goes hand in hand with my previous quote. I just don't see the team getting very far if in fact it can limp into the playoffs. I would see us as once and done in the NLDS. In the playoffs you really can throw the regular season out the window. And we have pitching that can shut down a team on any given night. We'd absolutely have a chance to do something IMO
  18. I don't want to trade CQ but if you get blown away with a deal from ATL or PHI you just have to do it. It hurts us in the short term but I truly believe that Viciedo would soften the blow enough where we can still compete this year since our pitching is so good and the division is so weak. Also, CQ is always a health risk and super, super streaky. The idea of adding a player like Dom Brown is exciting, even if it remains unlikely.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) If they pull PK for a pinch runner and Dunn is DH'ing, who else plays 1B? Omar? Viciedo if he was here. Does Flowers have any experience there? Morel?
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) Will someone please tell me why Smith going from Bristol to G Falls is a big deal? So Mosier can get some at bats in Bristol
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:09 AM) Petricka with a nice effort. Looks like they had Hector Santiago limited to a 70 pitch count in his first start since leaving the White Sox. Will be interesting to see where they eventually move Saladino...3B or 2B. Why will he necessarily be moved? QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 07:38 AM) Jordan Danks has not struck out in his last 5 games... His K rate is down to 29%. Still high but if he can get it down to around 25% he'll have a career as at least a 4th OF in the majors
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Taking the bat out of your most dangerous hitter's hands is a no-no. He's having a bad day, we're only up 1, Omar isn't likely to drive it into the gap. Worst case is Dunn strikes out and Quentin comes up with 2 on and 2 outs. In the 7th inning, I don't hate that call
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) BTW, great job of bunting last inning to take bat out of Konerko's hands and make Dunn face a lefty. Brilliant managing! Meh, resulted in having the bases loaded with 1 out
