  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) You have a pretty strict definition of complaining. He just said that it's stupid, which it is because it's 6 years later and they both played on the team since the title. I personally have no problem with it, and it seems that they don't either. I don't think it's strict at all. Coming in to the thread and deriding the gesture as pointless or stupid is in a way complaining about the fact that they're doing it. If you don't want to use the word complaining, at the very least it brings unnecessary negativity into what is a pretty standard and fun topic.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Who is complaining? The closest thing to a complaint that I saw was Tex, and he already came around to the idea. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 20, 2011 -> 08:25 AM) Have Garland/Uribe not frequented the Cell since '05? What are they going to do? Announce their names and all 275 fans do the slow clap? Stupid. Edit: I obviously meant since they left the Sox. Ridiculous is right. Even the most mundane things people can't keep from finding something to b**** about it for.
  3. So i just bought this. I'm going to have a lot of fun with my friends with this
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:59 PM) boner time I'll wait until they release the first Anne Hathaway as Catwoman pictures.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) How could anyone have a problem with this? It's two key parts of our World Series team who make their first trip back to the Cell since 05. I think it's great. Duh, complaining is more fun.
  6. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) What did I post then? Something about drinking and my ex-girlfriend? Sheesh. Ha, that changed. No, I was referring to a fart thread and something to do with swimming in gym class. IIRC it involved the evils of drinking and the thrills of gaming. It escalated pretty quickly.
  7. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) I am sure there were some 'classy' memories of the poster Wsc425 and BeastlyOrdonez30. Certainly I was a snot nosed HS freshman posting here at the age of 14/15 and had some pretty memorable threads. If I could go back in time and slap myself for what I did, I would. Do any of you remember the Old Roman around here? I think that was his name. His picture was a staple pic around here for awhile. The thread you started when you were in your first semester at college I'll always remember and laugh about
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) I asked my boss why he didnt keep the Whalers name when he moved them to Carolina, I got a scowl in return. The city of Hartford owns the name, logo and theme music I believe.
  9. QUOTE (MEANS @ May 20, 2011 -> 08:38 AM) yeah it has been canceled, but there is talk about another network picking up the series possibly, I believe they have plenty of episodes written already. Seriously? Geez another show I watched isn't coming back. That sucks, i really enjoyed that show. Next week is the season finale I believe.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 20, 2011 -> 10:40 AM) I believe you are the oldest if memory serves. My boy Rooftop Shots is up there as well. I believe he is the youngest. For a while, I remember Willie (along with Cubssuck1) was the youngest back in the day. I was 17 when I started posting here and wasn't even close to the youngest at the time. (few guys were 14-15) Those were the good ol' days. I was 19 when I started here (16 at the espn boards) and I remember a lot of people seemed to be around the same age plus or minus a couple years.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) He was a Twin...so... I wasn't responding to caulfield
  12. QUOTE (supernuke @ May 19, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) I'll beleive it when I am at my first game. What's your (and the overall city's) opinion on the move if they aren't called the Jets?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2011 -> 08:33 AM) The Yankees will also be less motivated to move a catcher now that Posada is struggling. Keep in mind they also have Romine and Sanchez so if they aren't willing to move Montero maybe they'd move one of the other two. I wouldn't mind having Romine in the system at all.
  14. I don't think they have actually. I don't know why people would be upset about this. They were two integral pieces to our WS team and they are making their first return since leaving the Sox. Why not give them a quick tribute to show respect and thanks? Did you have a problem when we did it for Frank? Or Crede?
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ May 20, 2011 -> 06:45 AM) Hey look, it's Garland and Uribe". OK, we recognized them. We were distracted for a couple seconds, now explain the under .500 team you got on the field. Um, ok...
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 19, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Being white has nothing to do w/ it. Kotsay was his baby last year, and he was white, while Andruw Jones was outperforming him majorly, and still got less playing time, and Jones is NOT white. Pretty sure that was a joke.
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 19, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) People over 60 know how to use the computer? No s***? Anyway, if we are doing the youngest, I don't think I win, but I bet I'm younger than 90% here. I'm 20. Yeah you're definitely one of the younger regulars for sure. The "Soxtalk youuth movement" really happened over the last several years with a large group of posters graduating college. I remember when I first started posting here there were people in and just out of high school but I honestly can't think of hardly any people in that group at the moment.
  18. So I'm the best man at my brothers wedding next weekend and I need to make a speech obviously. I've only been to two weddings as an adult so I don't really have a lot of wedding experience to go on here. Any suggestions for what makes a good/bad speech? How long should it be? Stuff that should be off-limits? Etc...I want it to be kind of funny or amusing and not to bore people but I want to make sure I'm appropriate. I've been kind of stressing about this because I'm just not exactly sure what to say at the moment. Anyone with any advice would be much appreciated.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 19, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) It's ok everyone, Mark Gonzales just tweeted: "Juan Pierre out for early bunting practice." So no worries, we got this...
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 19, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Dragon Age Origins or Oblivion? Both are on sale on Amazon and I feel like starting another one of these. Never played DAO but I had Oblivion. Never beat the game. I had about 100 hours in a few years back and my PS3 self imploded or something. Kinda been playing off and on over the past year and have another 50-60 hours in on it. It's a good game if you wnat to something to casually go back and forth from.
  21. Wow, McPherson really getting another start? Would much rather have Morel or Lilli in the game tonight.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 19, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) Like Mark Prior? Not really. His was mostly chronic arm problems I thought. Plus there's the whole steroids rumor. Not a terrible comp but not the same thing IMO
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 19, 2011 -> 10:47 AM) The guy has proven to be prone to injury, so I'd say his chances of blowing out his elbow are higher than most guys. And like J4L said, I was just using the elbow as an example. He hurt his ankle running the bases (right?) and missed time because he took a liner off the forearm. It's not as if he's had chronic elbow/shoulder problems to my knowledge. Yes, he's been injury prone but for the most part it's been freak injuries unrelated to each other.
