  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Honestly, because of the competition, Konerko is probably the least deserving candidate despite having a great season so far. Quentin, Santos and Alexei all should be there though I'm sure we'll manage to get 1 AS. Oh I understand the competition, but I just looked and to me Konerko has clearly been the 3rd best 1B this year behind Miggy and AGon. He has better numbers than Tex mostly across the board. So with the assumption they take three 1B, IMO he deserves to be one of them.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Really? Hm. I guess I need to keep up on other RF's better, I didn't think CQ was in that air, but I'd have to look around more. Humber, despite his high value to the Sox, I just don't see being a serious consideration, looking at the other starts available. I still think when it comes down to it, PK and Santos are the ones most likely to go. Well here are some of his ranks among American League outfielders HR - 3rd RBI - 1st OBP - 4th SLG - 4th OPS - 3rd 2B - 1st So to me that's a pretty compelling case to be an all-star. And Alexei is the best SS in the AL so that's why he should be there. We really should have 4 guys IMO (PK, Santos). That being said, I highly doubt we get more than 2.
  3. Phil Humber has been one of the bigger surprises in the league this year. We would not be where we are without him. And I hope there's not even any thoughts of him still possibly being relegated to the bullpen when (if?) Peavy comes back.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 10:29 AM) I though McGary was a go for IU? Took an unoffical to UConn last week and was offered a scholarship with an option to take it for this year or next. Apparently he liked the school, he tweeted something before taking it down. Link
  5. United States beat Canada 2-0 in their first Gold Cup match. Didn't catch any of the game but sounds as if they were mostly in control. Jozy and Dempsey with the goals.
  6. Anyone know what Ozzie's so mad about? -Iam in very very bad mood stay away from me the most you can -A lees for a week better tha way -By the way is global every one staring whit my people -Sean penn if you love venezuela please move to venezuela for a year -But rent a house in guarenas or guatire to see how long you last clown
  7. DeAndre Daniels commits to UConn. With him, Lamb, Napier, Roscoe Smith and Boatright also coming in that's some serious firepower. Not to mention they are all Fr/So (Oriakhi as a Jr only upperclassman). Then you take into account that they are the presumptive favorite for Andre Drummond next year and also the favorite for Omar Calhoun and a finalist for Mitch McGary...wow, could be a couple more really good years up in Storrs.
  8. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) Any mention of the loss column is as moronic as mention of the Indians magic number to clinch the division. 103
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Ramirez is the better prospect. But I guarantee you he'll cost more so we ran. Ok that's fine, but that doesnt detract from the fact that we appeared to have still gotten good value from that spot. It's one thing to knock the decision of him over someone else, but he was specifically pointing to the player selected, and according to BA that is a good pick.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) I don't think so save for Soptic. What's wrong with McMillen at 141? That's 50 slots below his projection.
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) So do they White Sox pick Ozney? 8th or 13th round
  12. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) "Two factors were considered in reaching this decision," Mike Murphy, the NHL's senior vice president of hockey operations, said today in a news release "The hit by Rome was clearly beyond what is acceptable in terms of how late it was delivered after Horton had released the puck and it caused a significant injury." They finally got one right....although I hate that last part. It's about the lack of respect for the same guys you share the ice with. It's about trying to knock someones head off instead of knocking them on their ass. BTW Canuck fans are already crying conspiracy It was absolutely the right decision. If this was regular season it probably would have been even more games. But I agree, I absolutely hate the bolded part. That's basically saying if Horton was not hurt the penalty wouldn't be as severe, which is totally wrong.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) we wouldn't have drafted him so high. I wouldn't be surprised if he signed really quick even. He sounds like the kind of kid we should try to sign quick to get him some pro experience before next season.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) Um, what did he do wrong? Blowing a kiss at the pitcher is fine with you?
  15. So Bryce Harper's kind of arrogant One, he sure watched that HR for long enough and then the kiss was ridiculous
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 11:15 PM) Looks like Jose Bautista 2.0. Wouldn't that be just wonderful? But we did just draft Keenyn Martin. So that will suppress my rage. We're really going to complain about trading away a guy 8 years ago, who just NOW may be figuring it out, when the guy we acquired for him helped us win a WS title 2 years later? Wow.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) It was a good hockey hit...if there were no rules in hockey. Solid 2-3 seconds after Horton got rid of the puck AND he left his feet. That was actually one of the worst hits of the season. He should get at least 2 games. If it was regular season he'd be looking at 5+ IMO.
  18. @MDGonzales Sox announce Robin Ventura to join player development dept. in special advisor role. Great hire.
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) I believe he is at Miami Dade CC, which would make him eligible for the draft even after one year. Only if you attend a four-year college must you wait three years to be eligible again. Just found this
  20. Gold Cup started yesterday. Mexico and Costa Rica both with dominating wins. Chicharito got himself a hat trick in the process
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) I don't think they can draft him. I don't think he is back in the draft yet. TSN story says differently I was just going off this.
  22. So what round are the Sox taking Ozney in? And is he even a legit prospect at all? I know a couple years ago he was mentioned as someone worth paying attention to.
