  1. Phew. Big out, can't give Cuddyer a chance to beat you
  2. Ok there we go...let's make something out of this. Rios and Dunn need to step up here
  3. How is Nick Blackburn currently sporting a sub-3.50 ERA?
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) Adam Dunn in the OF? THIS version of Adam Dunn in the OF? I'll be sure to TIVO those games. If they put him in the OF over Pierre I'd be totally fine with it
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Yes Whatever happened to him?
  6. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) He wasn't terrible as some suggest, but the fact that Peavy could not deliver as promised due to his injury forced Kenny's hand in trading Hudson to get somebody that may provide quality innngs down the stretch. This shows you how one stupid trade ends up in forcing another one equally or even more dumb. No it didn't
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) I wonder if we're going to start to hear Hawk criticizing, in general, the idea that Lillibridge is not getting played enough. I also think Teahen should be playing today against the sinker baller, and maybe give Konerko a day off since he struggles so much against Blackburn. I think you should throw out splits when it comes to Konerko right now. He's been one of only three guys we've had to consistently produce this season. Konerko versus someone who owns him is still better than most of our lineup at the moment
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Lot of pressure being put on DV here. Hope people are stopping to take a breath and realize that. He could easily come in and struggle, and provide questionable defense in LF. There no guarantees against any of this. Guarantees if he comes up: 1) He'll be more of a threat to instantly put a run(s) on the board 2) Pitchers will have some sort of fear 3) It will be more enjoyable to watch him play 4) Less pickoffs at 1B 5) Less bunts 6) More awesomeness
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) It is becoming apaprent that some of these posts just become bashing session. Too bad. I think the Friday game if Hudson pitches will be interesting. Is E Jax pitching too? That would be a great game to watch. However, the only TV game I see is the DBacks and Sox on WGN Saturday Yep that is the matchup. And if Hudson has the better game the game thread will be even more unreadable than usual.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) Since 2007, the Pirates are 2-34 (.056) at Miller Park Seriously? That seems just unfathomable
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) What possible option is there? What do you want me to tell you? So because I can't heal Peavy myself, I have no right to complain that he's injured? Suggesting he return the money and retire as a viable option is absurd and you know it.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) Retire then. Return the money he's stealing. Oh Jake, you're so cute with the way you try. You're like our own little Rudy. You know what, just keep the money. Take some more actually. Oh my, you're so cute trying so hard and being such a great teammate. I wish we had more guys like you, because we'd have a team full of winners and then there'd be no way we could ever lose again. It's just that can-do attitude that brings us all together and helps us play at nearly a .500 winning percentage. Golly, this guy is amazing. So we're not going to propose a realistic option?
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) I would prefer that to his constant "I'm going to do this and that when I return after working harder than I ever have to make my comeback" talk. In a perfect world, I would just like him to remain healthy. That, or just completely hurt himself so much that he'll just retire. Like fathom just said, I'm sick of all of the slack the guy gets for doing nothing just because he's such a "gamer". I'm not cutting him slack. He has done almost nothing for us in his time here. He also has made a valiant effort to correct that situation. He could easily just say oh screw up I got paid and sulk or pout but he's making an effort to be a good teammate, he's making an effort to contribute and he's saying all the right things as far as the team goes. I'm rooting for him not only because it would help our team if he could ever get healthy but also because he is clearly a guy who is easy to root for. This all started because he said he was willing to go to the bullpen. Instead of soley discussing the merits of that, which I don't think would work, the thread largely turned into a Peavy bash session. If the guy had come out and demanded he be back in the rotation that would be done thing, but he responded to a question and said he'd be fine going to the bullpen. Some of the responses were just ridiculous.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) I'm tired of hearing from him, period. Shut the f*** up and pitch, or go away. It's been all talk and no results with this guy since we traded for him two years ago. So it's his fault he answers questions now too? Would you rather he said no comment from here on out? Because I'm pretty sure people would then complain about him having a poor attitude etc...
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) I realize that all they needed was a win, but a 1-0 result vs. Guadeloupe instills very little confidence in this team or program. Maybe they turn it around in the knockout round, but right now they don't seem like a team that will win the whole tournament. It really should have been at least 3-0 (Landon missed from point blank and I dont know what Dempsey was doing) but you're still absolutely right. They need to change their scheme and frankly, I don't think Bob Bradley is the right guy to get them to do that.
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Poreda, Broadway, McCullough. That's quite a Hat Trick. Wonder if the same Scouting personnel pulled the trigger on all three?? Poreda doesn't belong in the same grouping as Braodway and McCullugh at all. Poreda had a much, much higher ceiling.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) As Balta said, people get so upset because of his complete inability to stay healthy. It's great that he has a "bulldog" mentality and that he'd trade all of the sunshine and lollipops in the world to help the team, but he doesn't. He's just a massive waste of money, years, and a roster spot. Sure, he didn't ask to be born as frail as a leprous hemophiliac, but he is and it's tiring. And like I said, it's fine to complain about all that. But all the guy said was that he would be willing to come back in any capacity the club thought would be best. And he got jumped on and told to just go away. At what point does it become b****ing just to b****?
  18. Wonderful, another Juan Pierre thread. The issue just hasn't been talked about enough recently. Thankfully it's being brought to everyone's attention again.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 11:27 AM) This is thing that drives me crazy about Soxtalk. One day Peavy is an asshole for pushing himself too hard. The very next week when he offers to do something to try to help the team, and put himself in a situation to save himself a little more, he gets taken apart. +eleventy
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) I love minor league baseball. Wow, incredible.
