QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) IMO...this is only a non-issue because the team won the game. If the game had been blown after Peavy left, then both of them would be a lot angrier at each other. And in that case...no, I don't think the opposite would be much worse. I meant the opposite as in them not caring.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) So I tried watching The Tudors last night on Netflix. Season 1, Epiosode 1 starts off "Previously on The Tudors" and then shows like 1 or 2 minutes of all this quick information and important looking scenes. Is this really how the series starts, or has Netflix misnamed the episodes? I watched like 10 minutes and couldn't figure out really what was happening. It started with a play being rehearsed, and Rhys-Meyers naming some guy as Duke. I don't remember how the first episode started in terms of a "previously seen on". Basically the series begins with Henry planning a war with France and he soon meets the Boleyn girls. It's kind of confusing if you're not familiar with the history behind it but by mid-way through the first season it makes sense. Personally, I loved the series. I've written several papers on the Tudors when I was in school and read several books on the family and period so I'm pretty familiar with them and do know a lot about them. The series obviously romanticizes certain things, portrays rumors as fact and isn't always accurate of course, but as a show goes, it does a pretty good job of sticking with history and facts for the most part. That's why they are so fascinating to me, they can provide a great drama series without the need for much alteration. Stick with the series, you'll enjoy it. Season 2 was the best of the four. I wish they continued the series with his children, as that easily could have provided 3-4 more seasons and have been just as good.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) My friend (Twins fan) and his girlfriend (Cubs fan) have left their dog with me until sunday. Dog is currently sporting a Cubs collar. I'm pretty sure it should go home with a White Sox one. I'm pretty sure it better.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 12:13 AM) Adu's decision making is generally quite poor. Though, it sounds like he finally had a good club season with that Turkish 2nd division club. It's not like he was only struggling with the US. He was a journeyman in Europe. That said, skill like he showed today is a must. Midfield though is one spot the US isn't thin. I'm watching the other semi between Mexico-Honduras. The Mexicans finally scored in OT, but both teams have missed multiple great chances. Honduras probably got robbed of a PK late in the 2nd half too. The problem with Adu is like you said, decision making. That'll happen when you can't find a regular spot playing at the club level. He really should try to get into the English Championship. I'm not talking like Hull City or a Wolverhampton type whipping boy in the EPL, but one of the better teams in the league just below so he can play competitively in a good league. That would really help his game. Even a move to Scotland or the second tier in Spain or Italy would help for now, he's still very young remember. Also, like you said our midfield is pretty solid with Donovan, Dempsey and Bradley and now Jones looking really good. Plus Bedoya has shown flashes and Diskerud looks like he good be a good playmaker as well. Still, very promising to see that from him. His size will always be an issue but his ability on the ball is right up there. Agudelo has shown ball skills that we haven't seen from any of our forwards in memory which is another promising sight. The game with Mexico should be a good one. I'd have to venture they are the favorites due to how they've been playing recently. The US just needs to find a way to contain Chicharito and GDS. Lichaj (he's gonna be a good one) and Cherundelo have been solid but our back line is a major weakness of ours. I feel the team that scores first will win the game on saturday but its more important for the US to get the opener - they just can't fall behind to this Mexican team right now.

Wow, this thread has been quite entertaining reading this morning. The jumping to conclusions, exaggerations and hyperbole, ridiculous statements, irrational opinions due to player bias, making a bigger deal out of nothing etc... This thread should be saved for whenever anyone asks what this site is like. Soxtalk in a nutshell right here. In all seriousness though, it really appears a non-issue. Both players said so afterwards and we won the game. There was no public blow-up or fight and it was just two competitive players in the heat of the moment. Peavy should not have been as animated while on the field and in view of everyone and AJ should never have made that gesture, right or wrong being irrelevant. I'll never question either player's desire to win and they're among the few on this team I can say that about. If anything, I'm kind of glad they do care as much as they do. Wouldn't the opposite be much, much worse?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) @MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Sox lineup: Pierre - LF Morel - 3B Quentin - DH Konerko - 1B Ramirez - SS Rios - CF Pierzynski - C Lillibridge - RF Beckham - 2B Peavy - RHP Other than Pierre, I don't mind this lineup at all -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) Yup, that one. The hot red ones are nice to look at as well. I actually like everything about that franchise. The logo. Beautiful ballpark. The works. I like their red ones better. Also a big fan of Oakland and Baltimore's black alternates. Oh and the Padre's camo jerseys, of course

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) I haven't seen any personal attacks on Rongey, so really the only thing that would deter him is if he really believes he can't defend his comments. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 12:52 AM) I cannot listen too him for 5 seconds he is a ass kissing SOB. He is a joke and people everywhere laugh at his dumbass comments that are NEVER ever any fault of the White Sox Brass.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) Garza has given up at least five runs in five of his 12 outings this season and is 1-2 with a 6.87 ERA in four career starts against the White Sox. So what you're saying is we're in danger of being shut out tonight? -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) Starlin Castro is not a dude you pitch around right now. Gavin threw an awful pitch, that is that. Especially not in the third inning of a game.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) If this were the White Sox going against someone who's hot, and someone who's not is on deck in this situation, we would be killed. The player would hit a three run HR. You mean like Castro? -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Really? I'm not a hater, and could see him going both ways, but I don't think he has the counting stats to make the voters care about him. The almost 3,000 hits thing is way diluted by him playing like 35 seasons or whatever. At the very least, I'm not buying that he's "definitely in." I agree though, that he is statistically superior to Ozzie Smith. Never really saw Ozzie play, so there might be some intangible attachment there that I don't understand, but Omar has a better case than Ozzie. He has a wife.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) I'm torn on Omar. His offensive stats seem to be lacking a bit, but compared to Ozzie Smith, he's right there with him and was on a similar level defensively. I don't think he'll get the necessary at-bats to get 3000 hits, as he's 175 away. His offensive numbers are actually better than Ozzie and he has the highest fielding percentage of any shortstop ever for a career. If Ozzie is in, Omar should be in.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) Hall of Very Good, probably right next to Paulie. EDIT: And Omar I think Omar should be in actually

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Heh, learn something new everyday. My mom used to work with people with learning disabilities, she learned that stuff in grad school and would tell us stuff. Actually pretty interesting how they used to classify people with any sort of mental handicap. -

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Rios has hit HRs in back-to-back days, and he moves down in the order. Makes sense, too. Cubs also have more speed than usual and more apt to bunt, so I would much rather have Morel than Teahen at third. He only moved down because we're adding the DH (Dunn) who is ahead of him. He's still second to last in the order (pitcher spot doesn't count) -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) None of those terms have ever been used to clinically or socially used to describe a very specific group of people. There is a large jump between retarded and idiot. Retarded is short for mental retardation, which is very different than moron. Technically that's not true. The term "idiot" used to be the medical term for people with severe mental retardation. Almost anything insulting can be construed as offensive to someone. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) Brent Morel was put in the 2 spot on Saturday and responded with a solid double to RF and scored the first run of the game. Being put on the bench is the only way he'll understand how big of a mistake that was. Good point, I forgot. In all seriousness though, he hasn't exactly sucked lately. Not showing much power but he's been putting the bat on the ball and improving. He's a rookie and showing improvement, he should be playing. -

pierre7, omar4, q9, pk3, dunnDH, ram6, aj2, rios8, teahen5 Not surprised to see Omar but a little surprising to see Teahen again. Would rather they have Omar at 3B and Lilli in at 2B. Or just start Morel
