  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Hindsight = 20/20. Dunn's contract seemed like a bargain this offseason. Thank you. It's no big secret that Dunn has kinda sucked, but to actually use that to go back to his contract being a major fail on Kenny's part is pretty lame. The offer he got was pretty much market value and with very few exceptions, there were really not many people here or in the media who had any problems with it. Arguing that no one else would have given him such a contract and that KW was competing against himself is pretty short-sighted and laughable.
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) We did learn a lot about the team and that's the good thing about the tournament. You probably want to already know about your team before a relevant Gold Cup, but take what you can get. Adu is back in the mix, Bedoya is coming along as we hoped, Jones is a solid addition to the team and Lichaj looks like the future at left back. Throw in Diskerud, Davies and Holden and you have a much deeper and probably better attack. Like you guys have said though, defense was the problem. Bocanegra is getting older and Goodson is only a decent centerback. Once Cherundolo went out the defense couldn't cope. If we can keep Timmy Chandler in the stars and stripes, there's Cherundolo's replacement in future games. There's reason for optimism, but this isn't the best USMNT we've seen recently. Hasn't he already suited up for the USA? I know there were thoughts Bunbury might play for Canada and Agboussoumande for Togo but I thought when they played in that South Africa game last fall that locked them into the USMNT? Or is the Chandler situation similar to Jones? I haven't seen anything relating to him possibly playing for Germany but I do know his German club team was quite adamant that he not be brought over by Bradley to play in the Gold Cup
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Kenny Williams? I'd argue Jerry Reinsdorf would be a more appropriate answer
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) Who's going to tolerate insanity? Sean Penn
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) That's probably why he's not up here yet, along with not repeating the "Gray" mistake. You really think a decision regarding Jeff F'ing Gray is factoring into this? Seriously people, Jeff Gray. They picked Pena over Gray. Tallest midget. Sample size blah blah blah get over it.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Nobody wants to see my books. I'm not a public figure and I'm poor. That's where you're wrong. You definitely have some fans just on this website alone, so of course they'd like to see your books and see how you're doing.
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) If you want different but not too crazy, go for some Moo Shu Pork. I tend not to eat beet at Chinese restaurants, but Beef and Broccoli and Mongolian Beef tend to be the most popular. I've wanted to try that for a while but never have. What kind of a flavor/spice is Mongolian Beef?
  8. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) It would certainly help the batting average, but if you're paying a guy to drive in runs, do you really want him bunting just to get on base? When the alternative is a strikeout, it's an improvement
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) Why not throw Edu back at a CB spot? I know they toyed with it for a bit before but I dont recall off the top of my head if it was a disaster or not. IIRC it didn't go over too well. Of course that was also a few years ago when he had injury problems and before he started to excel at Rangers who who knows. It's worth a shot at least.
  10. The loss of Cherundulo really hurt, and that second Mexico goal was a bad one. Odd strategy from the US after jumping out to an early 2-0 lead. That Dos Santos 4th goal was a brilliant shot - just incredible. Tough loss but there were some positives from the tournament. -Lichaj has shown some flashes and he could be someone who steps up over the next couple years -Agudelo is creative on the ball. He's young but there's promise there -Adu, wow, where did that come from? Again, creativity on the ball which we haven't seen much of from our team. -Liked what I saw out of Jones, although maybe overly aggressive at times. -Bradley was solid -Dempsey just keeps getting better I'd love to see if Davies can get back into form and see some of the young guys like Agudelo, Diskerud, Bunbury continue to get mixed in there. Our midfield is really solid, and improving, and we do have some potential up top. But if we're going to make any noise in Brazil we need to solidify the back line. Hopefully some people step up because they are the weak link right now.
  11. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 06:17 PM) Two more hits for Kuhn. bring him and Viciedo up and send Pierre and Dunn on their way. Is this a serious statement? Just release/DFA Dunn and eat the rest of his contract to bring up a utility guy in Kuhn? Wow, this is an all-timer
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Helps explain the reach that is Walker! Yeah, or not.
  13. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) So which city is the early favorite to receive the next relocation of the Jets? You mean the Coyotes? Or Panthers? Or Predators? Or Islanders? Probably Quebec City, Kansas City, Hartford, Seattle, Portland, Hamilton...in roughly that order IMO (maybe throw Milwaukee somewhere in there)
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) Sounds like it will be the Winnipeg Jets As it should be. Bettman and the NHL did something right, wow.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) How do you define "Proven" in this case? positive tests? Personal admissions? Saw them inject the needles yourseft? I'm assuming he's referencing Ortiz, and to my knowledge there's been nothing but rumor associated with him.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Peña began juicing in Boston, which is also a haven for drug use. It's turned at least one guy's career around... Has that ever been proven?
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) Well, Ozzie is showing supreme faith in a guy (Pierre) that has a proven pedigree and you have to admire that about him. Ozzie always sticks by his vets and that's a decent trait to have.
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) : pierre7, morel5, q9, pk3 ram6, dunnDH, rios8, aj2, beck4, jackson1 Ugh. Totally expected, yet definitely disappointing. Lilli goes 2-3 (on base 3-4) with 2 RBI and then sits.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Anybody know if the Final will be on TV tommorrow night and what channel? I found that starts at 8 PM, but I can't find a TV listing, if there is one? Pretty sure it'll be on Fox Soccer Channel.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) LOUD!!!!!!!! Really? I'm wrong there? I was just messin around cuz I think this thread is ridiculous, but I thought that was an adverb?
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) I understand what you are saying, and the thread title was indeed changed. But as we're not WSI (I feel like I keep saying that today), we don't generally quash entire topics of discussion just because they are controversial. Understood, but I totally see his point. Remember the Damon/Clemens post by YAS in that one thread years ago? It made its way to Sports Illustrated. Google caches sites all the time. How awful would it be if something like this merely even led to the slightest hint of unnecessary suspicion about him?
  22. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Steve always gets what he wants by yelling loudly. Fixed
