  1. I wouldn't mind NY splitting into two states as well
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) Now there was some entertaining soccer at the u17s. A lot better game than the women's world cup. I watched several of the U-17 games and yes there were some really exciting plays and games. I don't know about better than the WWC but still some exciting soccer. U-20 WC starts later this month, a shame we didn't qualify
  3. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) He obviously just isn't laying everything on the line. At this point, Peavy sounds like someone who you KNOW is a homophobe. Someone who is so insecure about himself that he has to project about toughness and whatever else. Just pitch man. What?
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) link Jason Sudeikis = Season 3 of Eastbound and Down AMAZING Awesome
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) The biggest downside to the HR Derby is ESPN as wellChris Berman.
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) Oh, I figured you were talking about 1980 too. All because it was 0-0 doesnt mean it wasnt a great game. There was tons of drama in the US-Algeria too. The Dempsey goal that was wrongfully called offside. Knowing that England was winning and a tie wasnt enough to move on. Algeria hitting the cross bar minutes into the match and the near misses by the US throughout the game. And a 0-0 score was a losing score at the time. Sure the women's world cup has some entertaining aspects because its an international competition but it is really like watching college soccer or the WNBA. That's an insult to the women's world cup. This World Cup has featured some really good soccer and has shown some good skill and it's had some great games. The WNBA on the other hand is more equivalent to watching paint dry.
  7. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) It's high enough to get a quality player in a good draft. Jackson should get us something. What's the 2012 draft look like?
  8. De Aza is intriguing me though. He's putting up great numbers at AAA and the splits show it is not because of Charlotte's park. He also isn't just some older player who came out of nowhere, Florida had him pegged as their opening day starter and a future of their OF a few years back before a really bad injury. I'd love to give him a legit shot here, especially over someone like Pierre. And De Aza could play CF as well
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 08:48 AM) I thought it was much more focused on specifically a Yankee, Damon, rather than clemens. Yankee and a member of the Red Sox...Damon was on Boston at the time
  10. Viciedo and De Aza would be an improvement over Pierre/Dunn and Danks could go either way in comparison to Rios. Quentin shouldn't be a part of this. And neither should Milledge
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) He has a point though. What would be the reaction if someone said don't ask, don't tell was a necessary evil? This place would be in meltdown. I don't think that's really the same thing. The military is more of an entity, whereas don't ask don't tell is a policy. I think government in and of itself is a necessary evil, but that doesn't mean those involved with it are necessarily bad in any way at all.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) ^ Not sure where a post just disappeared to (it was a solid, reasonable post), but I'll leave that up there ironically anyway. I took it down in favor of something shorter...i copied it back into my post below yours.
  13. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) Ah, should have expected the typical "military hate" card sooner or later. And you wonder why I suspect you of being unpatriotic. It's a real shame that we are sworn to protect people of your caliber who don't realize the immense good created by the military. You're pathetic. To the admins, I'm not going to tolerate people insulting the military. Several friends of mine have died in the services, and to hear someone call their deaths part of "necessary evil" infuriates me beyond belief. If thinking someone who says that is the scum of the earth is not allowed here, then so be it. That was not an insult, you're looking way too into this. The military, any military, is in fact a necessary evil. I'm one of the more conservative posters here (i've just stayed away from this forum for the most part the past few months), but i understand what he's trying to say. He's not saying that the military is evil, he's more saying how unfortunate it is that it is necessary. Wouldn't you rather live in a world where it wasn't needed (aka necessary)? Unfortunately, it is needed, badly, and I don't believe at all in defense spending cuts or anything like that. I even work for a company that provides connectors to most of the main military contractors. If you were ever in an MRAP, Abrams or JLTV or an F-35 or RAPTOR, etc you probably rode in something that contained pieces that came out from the facility I work at. I have the utmost respect for anyone in the military, past or present, but making that statement is not a knock on them at all. Don't look for fights, they'll come up on their own enough in this section as is.
  14. I have never been as excited during a women's sporting event as I was when Wambach tied the game. I watched the majority of the match and it was a great game. Just below the US-Algeria USMNT match in terms of excitement to me personally, but just as great of a finish.
  15. Curb season premiere tonight!
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) There isn't a single great center prospect in college basketball right now and that include the 2011 class. And while it is obviously very early there doesn't appear to be the next big thing at the center position in either the 2012 or 2013 HS classes either. Andre Drummond's got a bunch of potential...he might end up as a PF at the NBA level though
  17. Off waivers? So we're losing him for nothing? It's the beginning of the end
  18. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) Just s***ty luck, if Hamilton just threw that ball 3 feet higher, the kid would still have his dad...it's not JH's fault but he's gotta feel like crap today. Tragic... How many times do you think that thought must have gone through his head last night?
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) If they truly add no value then get rid of the position and pay for some better scouts. In Latin America
  20. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) What? That cant be true, if you paid for your seat you should be able to come and go as you please.. They do this in hockey all the time. Just because you paid for your seat, that gives you the right to impede others and distract them while they are sitting in the seat they also paid for?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) I am talking more like Kevin Brown and Barry Zito. Mike Hampton
  22. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) Sox are probably one of the two worst teams in majors right now. They are bad, they are slow, they don't hustle..... Yes, 11 teams with worse records clearly indicates we are one of the worst two
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) Only 4 Ks? So I assume you are saying Dunn won't be in the lineup.
  24. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 04:18 AM) I still think De Aza is a stud based on some of his numbers from Florida...not his overall numbers just some of the samples. I feel like he got the shaft over there..maybe the balls too. De Aza was penciled in as the Marlins opening day starter a few years back until he suffered a pretty bad injury to his leg/ankle
