  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) Well, I'll give Ozzie credit..."He's got to play everyday" is 100% the right statement, even if its said for the wrong reason. Agreed. I want DV up here badly, but Oz is 100% right that he needs to play every day when he's called up. Now, that should be the case, but since it appears it wouldn't be right now he does need to keep playing in Charlotte. Reasoning is awful, but calling him up just to sit the bench would just be another mistake. Somewhat unrelated, I just read through some of the original Pierre trade thread out of curiosity...definitely some interesting posts in there.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Alexei has played exactly one inning at 3B since coming to Chicago. But it was a damn good inning.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 15, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) I was mocking you and your "stick up the ass" attitude about anything that's not behavior of a model citizen. Of course I would defend it if Kaner did it, as well as any other young person having fun and entertaining. So you'd defend someone being a nuisance and doing something illegal? Great attitude. While I laughed when I saw this and also thought it was funny, I hope he was caught and got to spend the night in jail. Fans shouldn't be encouraged to run on the field and an incident like this does just that. Again, this was unique so it was funny, but I also hope that other people don't start doing this because of it.
  4. Article from DeadSpin So basically Colon used butt fat to make a come back...
  5. I find it hilarious how upset people are that Jeff Gray is no longer on our roster. Yeah, yeah, I get that he's outpitched Pena, and that Pierre is PE#1 and Mark Teahen is still on the roster etc...but I still find this comical.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ May 13, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) Just brought the N64 out. Never gets old. Depends on your definition of old, as technically it gets older every day.
  7. QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ May 12, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) Fairly stunning to me how many people hate watching the end of games. Especially in save situations. Also, is it really that hard to stay up until midnight? I get it if you have to get up before 5 am, but otherwise, a West Coast game should be pleasurable, a late night treat. Just my 3 cents. West coast games are tough to stay up for when you get up at 5:45 and live on the east coast.
  8. Charlotte won 10-7 Viciedo 2-4, 2B, RBI, BB, K Danks 0-5, K McPherson 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, K (now hitting .300) Escobar 1-5, 2B Gallagher 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 12, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Really? Everything I have heard is that Nashville is as stable as can be, especially with their recent success. They might not be able to afford to keep all of their top players like Weber, Suter, & Rinne, but that doesn't mean the franchise is in any trouble. I guess I could have heard it wrong but I swore I read within the past week that even with their playoff run they were in big financial trouble. If not at the moment, it was coming down the line real soon.
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 12, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) You might see Detroit move to the East and Minnesota move to the central, or something along those lines. I know Detroit has wanted to move to the East for a while but I don't see how they do that. Northeast and Atlantic divisions are pretty set and you can't put them in the SE. Closest teams to SE would be Nashville, St Louis or Dallas. Nashville might make most sense and you can move Minnesota into the Central. Even moving Dallas though would let you shift Colorado or Vancouver to Pacific and Winnipeg into Northwest.
  11. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 12, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) I am not commenting...I have extremely reliable sources directly involved in this. Good for Winnipeg. Was sad to see them leave in the first place. Would love for Hartford and Quebec City get teams again too. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 12, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) The Thrashers (I hope the name changes) heading to Winnipeg is extraordinary news. The more Canadian teams the better! They will absolutely change their name to the Jets. I would bet almost anything on that.
  12. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 12, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Whether or not Lillibridge will be able to produce everyday is not the question. The question is why is the guy that shows up whenever he is called upon, has consistently put up good AB's when not given consistent AB's, and plays hard not been given a f***ing chance to get some PT when we have guys like Rios, Beckham, and Morel all starting everyday and struggling to hit .200? I'm not saying put Lillibridge out there everyday, but damn, can he at least get a couple starts a week rotating between positions? Also, I wish we could see more Vizquel out there, but at his age, I don't think it would be smart for him to be getting anymore than 1 start per week. I agree. We all know his game has limitations, but since the end of last year the guy just keeps coming through whenever he's called upon. In no way is he a long term answer but we have some guys really struggling right now. Would playing him a little more really hurt the team right now? I doubt it.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 12, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) Good news. I think they need to try to get more back teams back into Canada. And I still wonder why there is no attempt to put a team in Wisconsin. I realize why they tried to expand to the southern part of the US, but I think they got a little over-zealous with the attempts. Teamss like Nashville & Carolina seem to be thriving, but Atlanta & Miami already have crappy support for their basketball & baseball teams. Why would that change with hockey?? Seattle or Portland should get a team before any other market in the US gets one (outside of maybe Hartford). And from what i've heard Nashville might be in trouble actually.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 12, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) Atlanta is relocating to Winnipeg, it's official. Are you commenting or did you see this somewhere? Nothing official on twitter or tsn.ca
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ May 12, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) Juan Pierre is sporting an awkward porn 'stache right now as well. At least it's not as awkward as Jordan's new Hitler stache
  16. http://twitter.com/#!/TheFourthPeriod/...692530820153344 Could be nothing, but it could mean Winnipeg gets a team again
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Reminds me of my story. Back when I was a kid I had to self teach myself about American sports. In 3rd grade I started watching the Sox and the Oakland Raiders. Both teams were on TV a lot. The year? 1983. Yeah, I'm also a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan (because of Montana, I was a 49ers fan first) and was a Sonics fan. Only local-"ish" team I root for is UConn. People always laugh but when you're not influenced by someone and are living in Europe, well, it's gonna happen
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 11, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) That's pretty cool... how on Earth did you become a Sox fan? Frank? Partly. My dad doesn't follow sports so my mom would just get whatever sports shirts they had at the army base store and the first one I can remember having was a white sox shirt. My grandpa tried hard to make me into a Yankee fan but by the time we moved back to the US it was too late - I already had an interest in the White Sox and Frank Thomas. And for the same reasons mostly that is why my brother is an Indians fan.
  19. QUOTE (Tuna @ May 11, 2011 -> 08:49 AM) I look down on them...as I sit on my high horse. I don't understand that mentality. I have either lived in NY or Germany my entire life and have only been to Chicago twice (both times the main purpose was to see games) yet I feel I'm probably more of a knowledgeable and diehard fan of the White Sox than 90% of people in Chicago.
  20. QUOTE (Tuna @ May 11, 2011 -> 08:45 AM) My knee jerk reaction was "absolutely not". Having a little time reading over this thread, I'm thinking, why would I travel out of state to find a team? What's the difference if I just stayed with the Sox at that point? The problem is that I'd be "that guy", rooting for a team in a state I don't live in and possibly have never been to, like that guy from LA who's a diehard Yankees fan. What's wrong with that?
  21. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 10, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) Truth. If they got OKC Thunder'd it would probably play out differently, but roster continuity would prolong my interest in that scenario. *Shudders* I've watched about 6 hours of NBA basketball since the Sonics were stolen. I'm done with the NBA until they get a team again. If OKC wins the NBA title this year I think I'll probably get sick. If something similar happened with the Sox I would not support that team, but I wouldn't give up the sport the way I did there. I've always kind of followed the Marlins so either I'd become a legit fan or I'd stay local and probably start rooting for the Mets.
