Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:30 AM) Sure, better for 2011, and worse for 2012 and 2013 and so on. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather be better or 2012 and beyond than just 2011. Meh, I mean, we went with a DH by committee last year, so I am not always shocked by bad player management. Since anything can happen year to year, I'd rather play for 2011 than for 2012, considering it's currently 2011. But maybe that's just me. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) Park your FMB at the door please. THANK YOU!

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen

With Thornton and Sale I don't think it ends up being all that important who gets the ninth because sometimes the eighth ends up being more important (think Minnesota 3-4-5) -
QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) 300 posts. Probably more than the original Vick thread. Looks like 333

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Screw that. If the episode has aired, we can talk about it. Anyone who hasn't seen it enters this thread at their own risk. I don't watch Survivor but that's how I treat this thread. If I have to DVR a show I don't come in here.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) I remember hearing that to decide whether you were a witch or not they threw you into a river or lake. If you floated, you were a witch and were killed. If you drowned, you weren't. That's because if you floated you were made of wood. Of course other things floated too, like apples, bread, very small rocks...and ducks! So logically, if she weighed as much as a duck it means she would float which meant she was made of wood and was a witch.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Eminem has been pretty bad since the Marshall Mathers LP. Granted, that may be the best rap album of all-time. And Biggie? Definitely not. I'd probably go with Jay-Z number one, too. He's had some stinkers (Encore, Relapse) but The Eminem Show and his latest album (Recovery) were incredible.

Any Ideas why Major Networks Dislike The Sox?
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It bothers me because I live outside of the Chicago market, but it's not something I take offense to. Also, with mlb.tv i care less about it now, but it still is nice for out of towners to see games nationally broadcast, so that is unfortunate if ESPN really has zero games scheduled this year. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) I'd be interested to know the other 10. Only ones that I'd consider over him are P. Jones, Irving, Sullinger, and Barnes. Of the 5, Thompson has the greatest chance to turn into a superstar, IMO. I'd probably take Sullinger, Irving, Perry Jones, Derrick Williams, Brandon Knight and his teammate Jordan Hamilton over him. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) If I had the first pick in the NBA draft, I very well might take Tristan Thompson. He's had an amazing impact on the defense of Texas. Offensively though he has some work to do. I don't think I'd take him top 10 at the moment to be honest. Too many other intriguing players ahead of him right now -
QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) I don't know if any of these have been done before, but here's some ideas, feel free to add any you want.... Entertainment Category Best TV Series Finales Best TV Pilots Best Movie Villains Best Rom-Coms Best Debut Albums Food Favorite Fast Food Burger Sports Favorite Super Bowls (Excluding XX) Favorite World Series (Excluding 2005) Favorite NBA Finals (Minus the Bulls' Six) etc. Top Comebacks - Any Sport I like the comeback one. I'd vote against another music one as we just did that genre and the fast food burger doesn't have too many options.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) Texas should have been #1 to begin with. They won in Lawrence so ranking Kansas ahead of them was silly. Good thing this isn't football where rankings matter. Eh. KU only had 1 loss and Texas had 3. Nothing wrong with Kansas being bumped up to #1 IMO. Kinda like how when the UConn women lost they fell and Baylor hopped up to #1 even though Baylor lost to UConn earlier in the year. -
QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) Another list they're doing is the 20 Greatest Games, of which the White Sox will not show up, but before they narrowed it to 20 they had choices from every decade from the 60's (i think) till now, and not ONE White Sox game was in the possibilities to be the 20 greatest.... Surprised Game 3 wasn't in the consideration

Sox to go with four man rotation to start the season?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) "I know he was a starter in college," Guillen said. "But I already saw him in the big leagues last year in the bullpen, and I loved it." :crying :crying f*** f*** f*** f*** f*** f*** f*** f***! I don't why you're so upset over Guillen making the right decision here. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Really, you'd be surprised if Buster Posey outperformed Brian McCann this year? In 2/3 of a season last year, Posey put up an .862 OPS. McCann has put up better than that number only 2 seasons in his career; 2006 and 2008. The last 2 years, he's put up .834 and .828 OPS's. Posey could always pull a 2nd year Beckham, but there's nothing outrageous about expecting him to outperfom McCann next year. That was a reference to the job they did overall with the list, not Posey vs McCann
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) Posey over McCann? Wow, I generally like MLB Network. But they really dropped the ball with these lists. I think they also forgot what the definition of "now" is

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) You may be interested in this book. When you have that down, get this one. I own both. Or watch this TV show

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) They also seem to love gay actors that play straight characters...NPH, Cynthia Nixon, TR Knight...at least those are the gay actors we know are gay. Will from Will and Grace wasn't flamboyant, but the Jack character was. The doc on Grey's Anatomy is gay..she isn't flamboyant...I think there was another doc that was gay and not flamboyant, but she's off the show. I don't know the more you dig, I don't see that as the case. Flamboyant is funny though...I don't think it's insulting, but maybe Rex speak better to it. The chick from Flashforward was a non flamboyant bad ass FBI agent. She's now on Perfect Couples. I personally think that show's quite funny.
-
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) You think these lists are biased? Their SS list had Jeter at 3. After I saw that a couple weeks ago I stopped caring about anything else they said in this series.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) f*** it, I'm taking it to the next level. Michael Vick is just like Hitler because they both owned dogs at some point and were responsible for the deaths of living things in some way. And there it is. Godwin's Law comes through again!

And now it's a link on the front page of espn with the title ChiSox' Buehrle hoped for Vick injury

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 10:08 AM) I guess that's where my mindset is different than yours. I see absolutely no necessity to kill the animal in the first place. The entire premise is unnecessary and irresponsible in my eyes. I respect and admire your position (and in some instances actually am on your side), and generally you make your views on veganism and the like known in a good way. But that article was kind of in your face and now with the avatar? I mean you're kind of asking for it in this instance. As far as the issue, I'm sure some of the mass production of animals and the hunting of them for food is done in ways most of us would care to not know of, but there are attempts to make it as humane as possible and it is for a reason. You may disagree with the reason but meat consumption has been a staple of the human diet for a long time. The ways in which dogfighting is conducted is done for no reason but pure sport. I just don't see the connection there.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) I thought last night was freaking hilarious. The lines Phil Dunphy, or should I say Clive Bixby, was dropping at the bar were something else. Agreed. I laughed at the awkwardness of his lines as well. Wasn't one of their best but entertaining nonetheless.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 08:19 AM) We Are All Michael Vick Just a warning to everyone, only click this link if you're willing to read an article written from someone on a morally superior soapbox and would like to see a hideous picture of a maimed dog at the top. I know i'm really glad I got to see that this morning.
