QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 02:12 AM) Mark Gonzalez w/ an article of some minor leaguers placement in our system.... http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/sport...0,2074739.story Very glad to see my boy Wilkins getting bumped up to Winston-Salem. I wonder where Jose Martinez is penciled in to starting. I'm still very interested in seeing if he can develop into anything.

Heyman Picks Sox for Central, among other things

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 08:01 PM) How is Posey for MVP ridiculous? On a side note, Keith Law picked the White Sox to win by 2 games. I thought about making a thread but then realized 40 posts of "Keith Law hates the White Sox" without anyone having actual proof, isn't fun. Funny because you've said this multiple times now and every time you get a response. I guess you just choose to ignore it. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) 2 seed that won the ACC regular season title and played to its seed in the NCAA tourney. Not to mention earlier in the year they beat the team that knocked them out. Impossible for them to be overrated. The ACC was horrible this year. And it was confirmed that if they had beaten Duke in the ACC title game they would have been a #1 seed. Good team, yes, but still over rated at the end of the year. This was not a typical championship caliber UNC team that some people were making them out to be recently. They got hot at the right time.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) How exactly is this true? They were considered much better than they actually were.

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 10:53 AM) There are only seven jobs that I can really see Stevens going for: Duke UNC Kansas UCLA Mich St. Indiana Ohio State So I am guessing he is referring to IU. The Syracuse and UConn jobs should be opening soon. Unless he's dead set on staying in the mid-west I could see him potentially being interested in one of those. Arguably the top two programs in the Northeast and perennially have solid to great teams. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 08:35 AM) Why? He's not on a big contract, and if no one claims him, he's a free agent. There's no real reason to expect him to decide to return to the sox. And if he does it's still not a big deal. We're responsible for providing Charlotte with bodies as well.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) I dont think you can compare professional playoffs with a single elimination tournament anyway. NFL?
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) A bartender on saturday was actually saying that this year's tournament is a good argument for the BCS as something that determines champions. That bartender obviously has no clue about what they're talking about.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 11:23 PM) A few new shows starting soon that I am interested in checking out: Camelot on Starz begins April 1st, and The Killing on AMC begins April 3rd. Set your TiVo's. The Borgias on Showtime

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) I won't even totally argue that in the sense Calipari is on his own planet in cheating. But Calhoun is without question also a very significant cheater, and to have both of these guys in this game sucks. Cheating does pay. Calhoun has had the one incident. And frankly, what he was accused of is awfully minor. 90% of what went on was on Nochimson, who by all accounts acted pretty much on his own. I wouldn't put him anywhere near the likes of many of the coaches in college.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) I would LOVE to hear an explanation as to why. Because I don't think it exists. Calipari is worse than Calhoun, but they're both scummy. No problem with the Calipari remark...Calhoun doesn't deserve to be mentioned anywhere near him.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) One national semifinal is two of the biggest cheaters in the sport with Calhoun and Calipari. The other is a bracketbuster game in April. Fascinating bit of contrast between two games on the same night with the same thing on the line. LMAO. That's a ridiculous statement.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 09:27 AM) Marquez has zero trade value, effectively. He's coming off an injury, a DFA/waiver wire candidate, and he's never really established himself as a decent prospect. Well, he was on the Yankees top 10 prospect list a few years back FWIW

QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) Because Garza was in the AL last year they probably want to get him some more at bats as well. Actually makes some sense

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) I absolutely could see Butler winning too...that's what my point is, I think this one is wide-open... Whoops. Confused you with the other two. I see this as a slow paced tight game as well. This could go either way.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Oh, I didn't mean beat up literally. I meant beat them by 10 points or so...beat up that way. I could see Butler just having a bad game and getting worn down in the last quarter of the game or so because Wisconsin just doesn't turn it over. But you couldn't see Wisconsin having a bad one and scoring something like 33 points?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) Cavic touched first, Phelps touched with more force. Pretty sure this has been confirmed. There is no conspiracy. The clock registered Phelps' touch first. And all the video evidence and digital images offer no conclusive evidence of anything. Not sure about that -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) I'll just pick one of the half dozen or so things you got wrong in this post and debunk it because I feel like looking at some numbers. It's next to impossible for Dunn to show up anywhere on the leader board for double plays. 1.) he's typically near the bottom of the league in GB% (over the last 3 years: 33.3%, 136th out of 138 qualified players), 2.) most teams are going to employ the Williams shift against him, putting the 2B in a terrible position to turn a DP and 3.) he's not that slow. By the end of the season he'll likely be in the bottom third of the league in total DPs (101st out of 138 qualified players over the past 3 years, bottom 27 percentile), this really should be the least of everyone's worries concerning Dunn. You seem fairly misinformed. Boom. Kalapse'd

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) The human body bounces back quickly. In January I decided I was a fatass at 211.7 lbs, and got to 185 a few weeks ago. I've been sustaining that weight and adding muscle and feel like I'm 21 again. I'll never ignore my body's health again. Once you start working out, I truly feel it's addicting. What did you to do that? I was at 260 about 15 months ago (I was 230 in college so i've never been small) and managed to get down to about 205. Got lazy and shot back up to 210 and got back on track a month ago and i'm down to 203 but it seems like i've been in the 203-206 range for a few weeks now and my ultimate goal is 185 as well. Kinda feel like i'm plateauing which I'm hoping is not the case.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) What are your top 8 websites on your Chrome browser? I think Firefox might have a top 8 too, if you have Firefox, post your top 8 for that then. Start with the top row, and list them left to right, which are ranked in amount of times you've visited that site. 1) Goallineblitz.com 2) Soxtalk.com 3) Juno.com 4) Google.com 5) OperationSports.com 6) Facebook 7) Brushbackbaseball.com 8) Woot.com People still use Juno? Wow, reminds of 7th grade Anyways, 1) Soxtalk 2) ESPN 3) Facebook 4) Sporcle 5) Gmail 6) Twitter 7) Wikipedia 8) Hartford Courant (UConn blog) Surprised so many people use chrome...i've been using it since just about when it came out and I love it.

That Goudelocks kid from CoC? Holy s*** does he have range. Like better than Jimmer range. I swear he drained a 35 footer last night. Apparently he's 38th or something like that in the all-time NCAA scoring book. Wonder if he'll get any feelers from the NBA come draft time. Wish I knew about him before his final game.

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) Let's face it: Teahen's on the roster for one reason and one reason only: HIS CONTRACT ($3.75 million/yr). Wrong. Yup. Which is why a few of us have now said he is our best utility option. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) In my opinion, the White Sox have better options for utility: Deaza, also sent down, is a lefty, just like Teahen, but adds a speed dimension (base stealer, pinch runner) , better outfielder, and comparable hitting (better BA, similiar OBP, similiar RBIs). Jordan Danks, another lefty, had an impressive spring, as well. You do realize what a utility player is right? Because neither De Aza or Danks are that. They are both not as good anyways. Teahen has a decent bat. It's not great but it's fine for a bench player. Teahen can serve as a back-up at 4-5 positions, thus the utility moniker. If we eat Teahen's contract it means he is replaced by Lillibridge. Are you going to argue that he is a better player? I'd hope not. Using De Aza or Danks in your argument is comparing apples to oranges. And even if not, how you could make a case for D2 being a better player than Teahen at this point baffles me. Say what you want about the guy, but contract aside, Mark Teahen is one of the better utility player options out there.
