  1. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) No s*** dude, ive already said the order of blame was 1. Players 2. KW I was explaining to someone else WHY Kenny would get some blame here. And the fact that you say "Um, the players he got aren't performing. How is that Kennys fault?" What the f*** do you think the GM job is? No GM would ever get fired if that wasn't their fault. The GM got players who are under performing. That is not his fault. He could not foresee the s***fest that they have put together the past couple months. It is not on KW. The only thing that is on him would be the lack of CF options to begin the year and the 5th starter hole, but even then Colon was better than a lot of team's #5 starters. No one was blaming KW for f***ing up the team in June when Dye should have been an all-star, Konerko was hitting much better, Beckham came out blazing (after the 0-18), Thome was contributing etc...There wasnt blame being thrown at him then, and there shouldnt be now. If KW, or any GM, could have foreseen players the caliber of the one's we have go into such a funk they wouldn't be GMs. They'd be in Vegas or playing the lottery. So statements like this are pretty silly, to be nice. "Dude that's why it IS on Kenny.. His job is to get players who perform, the players aren't performing (not living up to their potential) so how can it be on anyone else?"
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) Does it sound to you like they have their background sound turned up too loud to you? No but i'm watching through MLB.tv on my computer and my cpu speakers are s***ty. Great play by Alexei by the way
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) I don't know what's worse...having to watch the games with the Twins' announcers, or our own... Twins announcers. And it's not even in the same universe.
  4. Amazing how they seem fooled by Blackburn's amazing stuff
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 06:07 PM) No, your post looks kinda stupid, but the trade was still awesome. We have several years of a top flight Ace for basically nothing prospects. What a great trade. This. Blaming KW for the trade cuz Peavy was/is hurt is dumb. He said at the time it was more geared towards 2010 anyways. KW could not have foreseen him taking a line drive off the elbow.
  6. Was that stat correct? Minnesota broadcasters just said Floyd is 4-8-4 with a 2.63 ERA over his last 18 starts.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) Odds are each of Dye, Thome, Linebrink, Dotel and Konerko already cleared waivers earlier this month. Almost guaranteed, otherwise this wouldn't have even come up. Not enough time if they hadn't already.
  8. So I spent all weekend cleaning/packing/moving/unpacking. What a major pain in the ass. Haven't done this in a few years, didn't realize how much it sucks. On a positive note, I had been planning on driving down to NYC for the Sox games, so I guess I spared myself another kind of annoyance and pain.
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) Great f***ing post. A bunch of people who never saw the guy play are ripping on him/downplaying his status as a prospect building him up and worshiping him simply because we traded him. If he had gone 3-4 for US last night there would be a million threads about dumping Paulie or finding other ways to fit him in next year. This is ridiculous. Fixed. I also forgot how many professional scouts we have here. Sometimes it amazes me why the White Sox are so stupid and don't just employ people here. The people they currently pay to do this stuff obviously are stealing money from the organization.
  10. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) I'm not taking it personally at all. You can post whatever opinion you'd like, but this is a discussion forum. If you say that it was a bad decision, I'm interested in why you think it was a bad decision. Otherwise, it's just a complaint forum! This is a complaint forum now.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) The poll choices are awful FWIW. There is absolutely no recognition for the people who believe that Kenny did his job well and it was the players that failed. I think we need a wsf101 poster approval poll, because these haven't been very good so far. This.
  12. LOL at the people who think firing Guillen would solve the problem(s).
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 04:53 AM) Dude that's why it IS on Kenny.. His job is to get players who perform, the players aren't performing (not living up to their potential) so how can it be on anyone else? This may just be a bad stretch right now, they may start performing. Thats why im not saying KW needs to go or anything.. however, if there was blame to be placed it should be on the person who CHOSE the players to be on this team that aren't getting the job done. Ozzie is only asked to make dinner, he doesn't get to shop for the ingredients. And its not like we are a small budget team that doesn't have the resources to build a contending team either. Um, the players he got aren't performing. How is that Kenny's fault? It can't be on anyone else BUT the players. That is flawed logic.
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) You said someone we can sign in the off season. He won't be a free agent . He's only 23 and a hitting machine. Kung Fu Panda is a beast . He's making under 500K this year. He's probably a guy the Giant's wouldn't think of trading. Yes but then you said are there of those types in baseball. I answered that. He was the first, and only to come to mind. But that doesnt mean there arent more, i just don't know. And i'm not asking for a guy who even would ever start a game. Just a guy who has played there before so if an in-game injury occurred and our backup was at DH, he could catch for a few innings and know what he was doing.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) MLB.com Thanks. Well that came out of nowhere to me. I'm somewhat surprised the Rays would trade him, but I admittedly know nothing of the players they are getting back.
  16. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 03:43 PM) Title of Episode 1 of Season 6: Boooo
  17. If you're gonna start a thread like this you really need a link
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) Are there any of those types in baseball now who actually would catch unless it was an emergency ? Don't think so. No manager will put that kind of guy behind the plate for any reason but an emergency. You see more emergency pitchers than u do catchers like Nick Green ( who's a shortstop) yesterday. Pablo Sandoval
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Why do I have to explain that? Are you trying to say Greg Walker has had a direct impact on the hitting in April and August? If so, thats pretty damn crazy. 2008 6th 2007 28th 2006 3rd 2005 13 2004 3rd 2003 12 Outide of the awful year in 2007, the Sox have been on the top end of the teams in the MLB in runs the last 6 years, finishing in the top 15 each year and the top 10 3 times, including 2 top 3 finishes. How can we explain THAT? Greg Walker hates the cold so he stays home in April. And he loves the European culture so he takes holiday for the majority of August just like they do.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) My personal feeling is that you ignored my entire post, that gave reasoning. I wouldn't care if the Rockies played there, it is still stupid. Well then you'd be wrong.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) The majority of us want to have the best of both worlds. Keep AJ, while easing Flowers into the starting role. That's why it'd be great to sign someone in the offseason who plays IF or OF and could back-up at catcher every now and then. That would allow us to use either AJ or Flowers as the DH sometimes and not worry about the pitcher having to bat if the starting catcher were to get hurt.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) I keep seeing people saying this, but I honestly can't recall seeing a post about wanting to trade AJ. I'm sure someone will provide a link to one, and I thank you in advance, but I just cannot remember someone saying it. There hasn't been a thread dedicated to it, but it's been brought up many times when people talk about who we should let go in the off-season. It's not a large contingent, but it has been brought up.
