  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) I wouldn't consider myself any sort of groupie. I'm an opinionated asshole who loves to play devils advocate at times, and while I tend to agree with Kap more often than not, that doesn't mean I agree with everything he says and nothing you say. Agreeing with Kap in this forum isn't allowed. Everything he says is nuts and you're just naive to think otherwise.
  2. Stop it. We all know only crazy gun-toting republicans who cling to their bibles do and say such horrible things.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 08:39 AM) I've enjoyed watching Kanny this year. Lots of great pitching on that team's opening roster, though some have since been promoted or traded. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe their Opening Day roster included: Dan Hudson, Dexter Carter, Charlie Leesman, Stephen Sauer, Gregory Infante, Justin Edwards, Dan Remenowsky, Tyson Corley, Drew O'Neill, Charlis Burdie, Kyle Bellamy and Nathan Jones. I don't think any team in our system was in the ballpark as far as that much pitching talent. Bellamy was drafted this year but other than that you're right.
  4. QUOTE (VAfan @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Soon as I post this thread to cut Contreras, he pitches a gem in a must-win game over the Royals. Any chance he could get back on a roll? He apparently talked to El Duque and changed his pants to go with the high socks of his protoge. Not sure why Sox don't just put El Duque on the payroll if he can fix Jose. I didn't even see Contreras's game, but I know the guy can still pitch. Now we just need 3-4 more of these in a row because the Tigers aren't going to make it easy. I'm sorry, but if you "knew" he could pitch why did you say this less than a week earlier? QUOTE (VAfan @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) At this point, Jose is not helping the ball club. He's taking a roster spot that could be better filled, IMHO, by ANY starter the Sox have in the minors. If he won't take a minor league reassignment, then cut him loose. Be consistent.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) None of predators better prey on me… 19. 20 in a month. You joke, but if you were here late in 2003 that statement would bring back quite the memories
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) 19 Wow. So when you first started posting on the ESPN boards you were what, 10 or 11? I'm 26.
  7. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Ramirez needs to move to third and Beckham short. Ramirez has too much time to think at SS and Beckham could not be any worse. I am waiting for a slow roller to stop and Ramirez to sit and watch it while the runner rounds the bases. He refuses to charge a ball now. The play yesterday was abysmal. A position he's never played before? If anything he should be moved back to 2B.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) This is what I was getting at, you can't do these things. But I will continue to say that cigarettes are an exception, given that they have such a high risk to public health, and that we are essentially allowing people to buy an addicitve, killer drug. It's still cuts into that personal freedom of choice though. I hate smoking, and agree with the laws keeping it out of public places, but what makes tobacco different from alcohol? I agree it does lead to an increase in chances of health problems down the road for each individual, I just have a hard time with the whole regulation of individuals right to make choices concerning themselves.
  9. While we're at it we should ban all fast food restaurants, stop importing chocolate, make tobacco farmers grow alternate crops, re-institute prohibition, and institute the drug-trafficking policy of many SE Asian countries (death penalty). That'll fix us, and should alleviate much of the burden of costs on the health system.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) I think that was his sarcastic list. All of those places blow. Derrr...yeah apparently i'm a rahtard cuz I didn't even notice that.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 01:30 AM) Jeez, you have 6 guys with over 100 RBIs,lol That offense would be like the greatest offense ever:D Just looked at those. Were you high when you did that?
  12. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) Cleveland Detroit Stockton Newark Gary You've gotta be kidding me. That place is such a s*** hole.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) Could someone post an update? Score Inning etc 4-2 Sox Mid 8th
  14. Cowley's an ass clown. "Bout time...Rios hits first Sox homer" Bout time? It was what 30 at bats?
  15. Great job Jose. The team reallllly needed this kind of performance today. Hopefully this can springboard him to become a viable 5th starter for the rest of the year
  16. 87 pitches through 6, do you chance him with the 7th? I'd run him out there to start but pull him if he let's anyone on base. Of course if we score some runs this half, maybe he can be given a little longer leash.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) The Red Sox do not "Often" have a weak farm system. Their farm system has been one of the most productive in the game the last few years. The Yankees have also done an excellent job of adding talent to their farm system using their financial resources; for a while you just didn't know it because they were trading away their guys and giving up draft picks to bring in veterans. I shouldn't have lumped the Red Sox into the Yankees there, but no the Yankees have not had good farm systems lately. They have had a few players recently, but it was pretty barren for a while. That's besides the point though. Would it be bad for those teams to acquire those Top 5 draft picks if the receiving team received prospects though? As long as it wasn't for salary reasons I don't see it being a bad thing.
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) I wasn't trying to belittle or cut down US soccer at all. I honestly did not. But his use of the term "world-class" irked me. Read DBAH0's post, World Class means the elite players in the world. None of the players he listed are close except for Howard, who I think is one of the best goalies in the world right now. I'm not trolling at all, soccer is my favorite sport. I'm just stating my opinions, sorry if they don't agree with yours. BTW, you REALLY overrate Landon Donovan. My apologies then. It came across to me at least as a quick little jab. I guess I don't have such narrow guidelines for the term 'world class.'
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) Slotting would be good, but not trading of picks. If that happens, the Yankees and Red Sox will end up with every top 5 pick. Would they though? I don't think that would happen if there were slottin. Slotting would keep those exorbitant signing bonuses of the top picks down and allow teams in lesser markets who deserve those players to be able to draft them. The Yankee$ and Sawx often have weak farm systems and therefore might not have a lot to trade for those picks.
