  1. haha this is unbelieveable...Danks' teammates must hate him This is a perfect example of how to not win a baseball game
  2. As unlucky as Danks has been with our offense, he's making up for it on the other side
  3. Great Falls somehow managed 12 runs with just 4 RBI
  4. QUOTE (Shamrock4Life @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) DirecTV and MLB Package means I switched over to the LA broadcast and got to see it. Scully didn't even mention it until after the returned from the 8th inning commercial break. He didn't even know about it. Getting your 1000th K is kind of like hitting your 200th HR. Its kinda a big deal to the player, but in terms of baseball it's meh.
  5. Germany wins 3-2. Such a shame Turkey doesnt win that one, they deserved it. Hate to blame Rustu but... If Germany and Lehmann play like that against Russia/Spain they will have no chance in the championship.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) Any way around these sorts of issues in the future? When we did the athletes I tried to get the rules narrowed down as to who qualified, what teams they had to play for, for how long, etc, but for one like this it'd have been even harder to do. Well the category is favorite comedies, so for younger people who werent around for the older shows and/or havent seen them, they obviously wouldnt be a favorite of theirs
  7. I didnt submit a list this time but I'm glad 30 Rock is on the list...for whatever reason i just absolutely love that show
  8. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Oh how are Turkey not leading at half time!!!!! Jens Lehmann looks terrible in goal so far for the Germans. C'mon Turkey!!! I'm following the game and by the sounds of it it seems Turkey is taking it to the Germans and are unlucky to be tied at half. Definitely a surprising first half. Too bad CKR drove one off the crossbar. Here's to hoping Turkey can pull another one off.
  9. Turkey-Germany get under way in just a few minutes. While it would be a great story if Turkey wins, with their decimated lineup I say they fall to the Germans 2-0.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) One of the players who would have been a surprisingly good fit would have been Ben Gordon (although I assume he's playing for the UK squad). Gordon is a guy I rip on, but with the remaining players you could really utilize his outside game to a plus (he should get tons of open looks with the Lebron's/Pauls/Howards/etc on the court and could be key). Wow, did I really suggest Ben Gordon on the US Olympic team (given my constant ripping of him throughout his career). I thought I read somewhere that Ben Gordon and Luol Deng would be trying to help England qualify. I could be wrong though.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) American's say that every year about their basketball team. It's easy to go undefeated in qualifiers when you play Costa Rica and Barbados. Let me also just say I'm dissapointed in the selections of my Serbian team. Stojakovic left off again, as well as Rakocevic and Jaric. We'll have to rely on the bigs again with Milicic and Krstic down low. How does Peja get left off? As for the U.S., i would have preferred to see Marion over Prince. Marion can (and has) play the 4 position in addition to his natural 3, can run the court, shoot the 3, rebound like a 7 footer and plays good 'D'. Also, don't laugh, but a Kyle Korver/Ray Allen/Rashard Lewis selection just for the 3 point shot would have been better than Prince. Tayshaun will be the 12th man and hardly play, so why not bring someone who can bust a zone with a 3? The 3 point shot is crucial in international play.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 03:45 AM) I don't think anyone's penciling him into CF for the next 3 years, merely that he's off to a nice start for the Sox. He was hitting the ball pretty damn well in Charlotte too so there's a little something to this. Not .360, but a decent bat, decent pop, and decent glove. And pretty good speed as well. He obviously isnt a long term answer, but for a short term plug-in, if he's hot we might as well ride it out as long as we can.
  13. The referee in the Italy-Spain game yesterday was awful. I'm glad Spain won on PK's b/c there is no way Italy deserved to win that game. Spain is fun to watch in the middle and up front. Hopefully they start Fabregas next game for someone in the midfield (someone other than Silva or Senna that is, I thought they had good games)
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) 5 runs in 5 innings is pretty horrible. Not the way it was done. He wasnt throwing strikes at a clip you'd like to see but the Cubs had a couple cheap hits (see Theriot) and the two HRs hit off him were good pitches. Patterson hit a pitch that was probably a ball inside and the pitch to Ramirez was at his shins. Vazquez wasn't good, but he wasnt atrocious either. Sometimes you have to give a litte credit to the hitters as well.
  15. We need to get a run in the 8th. We can't let them hang on to this momentum. Not in this s*** barn
  16. In other news: Jays fire their manager and bring back Cito Gaston and Croatia/Turkey tied at 0 in extra time
  17. Smart to PH Uribe there b/c that way it saves Thome if we need him in the 9th
  18. 4 guys came to the plate = 9 pitches Ugh. Thats the way to help keep a starter in the game
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Some very curious things being said about Soto by Farmio and Stonio right now. Like what?
