  1. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 04:39 AM) People that drink= pathetic grinders People that dont= great dancers gotcha You took that the wrong way and you know it. QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) After that pic, you're lucky to have had another three minutes
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) You look drunk as hell. Must'a been a great night. Oh....wait... You're so funny! I mean it, he he he! It was a great night without the use of alcohol, that's just me being myself, and having some kick ass dance moves that allow adrenaline to flow and do something other than pathetic grinding---it also makes for laughs.
  3. Junior year with my lovely girlfriend of whom I am dating for almost 3 years.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) If college isn't fun and you'd rather "pass the time in [your] room alone", then you have some other problems to work out. But I don't want to take it there, so I digress. Sorry, the green wasn't wrapped around that link, but it should have been. Either way, it would be nice to go home and get away from school for a bit.
  5. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) good lord you make college sound like punishment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmLa_W_afH4 I'd just rather be home and doing something that's fun. (At least it would be fun to me.)
  6. I'll be watching sitting in my dorm, counting the days of college down till I can come home May 1st.

QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) here we go Hey now, I just wanted a simple answer, but I guess people have to debate it for days on end.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) He doesn't know what that is like. I don't get what all the fuss is about over getting drunk. It's a buzz created by alcohol. Woo hoo. I could get a buzz off of my daily 3 mile run or having Mountain Dew and Lemonheads while gaming with friends. I guess my question is, why should I need to know what it is like?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 01:29 AM) I wouldn't say they are stories, per se, but rather people coming on here, getting drunk, and then attempting to type. I usually just cruise around the boards a bit when I'm hammered, but it's no big deal. (Now I'm just being a jackass because I missed that one thread) but, come on now, seriesly, why would you do something like that?
  11. The Beast replied to Heads22's topic in SLaM
Are you guys all sharing your drunk stories, come on now, seriesly?
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) While both ways it is intentional and subject to an interference call, if he goes in with his legs and feet, there still can be at least a little doubt about "intention". When you reach and grab a leg, there is no doubt. The umpire made the correct call. If it were the other way around and an Indian sliding and grabbing Cabrera and interference wasn't called, this board would have been as up in arms as Hawk would have been yesterday. Exactly, you hit it right on the noggin. I also wanted to mention that the Crede call may have been difficult for where the umpire was standing, but I can see why he called what he did, Crede slid kind of high with his hand on the air, so it could have appeared to the umpire that the catcher barely got Crede. In those situations, you have to rely on your position, where the foot is touching the base, and you need to listen for sounds as well as watch several other components of the play. I'm sure we're all wondering what the umpire exactly saw, but I think he made the call to the best of his ability with what he could see. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I don't know about you, but going through the letter writing process certainly makes me feel better about the situation. I'm glad that it made you feel better and I'm also glad that your letter probably made educated, well thought out points---it makes us look better and separates us from b****y ass Cub fans.
  13. QUOTE(almagest @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) I actually think it makes us look worse if we *don't* express our displeasure over at least two terrible, game-changing calls. I think sending a letter to the MLB is far more constructive than whining about it on a messageboard, as well. Also, in regards to the Cabrera play... I agree it was interference, but there was no play on Thome at first anyway. Nothing Cabrera did influenced that. Why, therefore, should Thome be called out? Judgment call or not, that's poor umpiring. The umpire was not in a good position to make that play, so granted, that is poor positioning on his part to see the full play. What should have happened is that the umpires should have gotten together to discuss the situation, even if the call wasn't going to get reversed. As far as the Cabrera slide goes, it could go either way, but even Hawk said it was a clean slide, so, who knows. Is anyone ready to move on to Wednesday's game yet? I sure am.
  14. QUOTE(Phil McKrevice @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Selective enforcement is what everyone is pissed off about in this case. Just out of curiosity, was there selective enforcement about the rule anywhere else in today's game?
  15. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) You can't physically reach out and try and grab someone... that is exactly what cabrera did. That is not how you take out a fielder at 2B, and the umpire was right to call interferance. You take out a fielder at 2b by sliding into them, not attempting to grab and possibly trip them. It was a bad play by Cabrera, that's pretty much it. Exactly. Looking at the replay, there is no doubt in my mind that Cabrera should have been out for interference, and that at the umpires judgment, the batter can be called out, too.
  16. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) Speaking for myself, not Beast, I think the harm is that it makes Sox fan look like little whiny b****es. That's part of it, but not my whole point. I think I may just drop it. As far as the other responses that I got---where did my job at the radio station tie into this, and Tony, I don't drink, as I've mentioned in many other threads, and as far as Bob's comment goes, you can say what you want to me, it's okay. I'm not really wanting to get into an argument but if I'm destined to, then so be it.
  17. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) Read what I wrote again and then get back to me. No thanks.
  18. Schools should really install text messaging systems if there is a problem---EIU just did this with our university and I definitely feel much more safe after signing up for it.
  19. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) To the first part. Umps get suspended. Especially in scenarios in which a game is called this poorly. They're trained rigorously, but they're not above the millions of dollars going into both teams. I'm quite certain it's not just the fans that will complain this time. To the second part. He was making a point. Not threatening to delete your account. Umps get suspended because fans b**** about the "poor quality of the game?" That's definitely a new one and I'm not sure that's the case. I doubt anything will happen to this umpiring crew. I don't care what the point was.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:44 PM) Then you got my point that there was really no point for your post either. Good. The "either" in your post makes me hope that you are saying that there was no point for both of our posts. If this is so, let me know.
  21. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:40 PM) That is ignorance, its not going to change get over it . Human error happens, players need to perform and changes can be made. Thank you and QFT. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) well those 2 outs called would have kept the inning going wiht momentum. We probably could have scored 4 runs that inning giving us 12 runs total including JD's shot in the 9th. So yea even with Dotel's implosion we still probably would have won. Fair enough, I'll agree to disagree if you will. Altough I don't agree, I respect your opinion.
  22. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) bottom line, the guy gets 50 emails in his box tomorrow morning about bad umpiring at a game, it makes him think about it... at least for a second. There is no way that he does that. Do you have any idea of the kind of training that these individuals go through? It's pretty rigorous. I doubt with how many Umpires the league has that any kind of action would be taken. Sure, some things could be under review after games with so called "controversy," but I doubt that anything will come from people acting in the heat of battle instead of waiting when they've cooled a bit. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) Well if it is all based on if it will do any good or not, I will just go ahead and delete your account, because nothing said on a message board is going to do anything... I'm sorry, but isn't that a bit of an extreme overreaction?
  23. I hope you guys know that this is not going to do anything.
  24. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) you hate to blaim a game on umps... but these guys really were bad out there... this game should have been won... these guys show heart..we missed that last year. Say we scored the 2 runs or what have you, would we have won if Dotel imploded like he did? I will never blame a baseball game on an umpire like that. Ever. Hold me to that.
  25. For any of you who want to voice frustration, go rip on the umpires on The Score, I will laugh my ass off as I sit here listening to the seemingly petty arguments that are made. Or, call me up at my show and I'll listen to you vent, 217.581.3343. Good effort today, White Sox. There's a lot of good positive things to take from today's game!
