Rays even manage to outpayroll Sox now with HaSeong Kim deal
The Beast replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I want to better understand what the goal is. Is the goal to move the team? Is it to turn over the roster to new prospects and the new way of doing things? It would kind of suck if they are not spending just to move even though I guess I’d understand why. I hope they have exhausted all options within their price range to improve the roster so as to flip players at the deadline. Of course Feddes don’t grow on trees and the old way of rebuilding isn’t possible anymore. And they have already traded away 2 of 3 blue chip players on the roster (if Robert still is considered one) so they are almost out of shots in the arm and need to develop. -
Tim Anderson agrees to minors deal with LAA
The Beast replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hope Tim regains form and salvages his career. And find where his power went because I thought that was what made him interesting in 2019. -
If Poles gets fired, what’s the plan?

I’m wondering if Washington’s kicker will be their Achilles heel in the next round…
-
Give some credit to the offensive playcalling too. It’s amazing how an offense looks when it isn’t in disarray and is clicking.

I think with Johnson, we’re going to have to wait until he’s available for a second interview if Detroit is still in it after this weekend. I view McCarthy having an in person interview as a good thing so they could get actual face time with him before he interviews elsewhere. Like Tony, I don’t objectively think the Raiders are a better spot than the Bears. They lack the quarterback and don’t have a top 1 or 2 pick. I’m not sure that their roster is as built up like the Bears are. Sure, Brady is an owner there but their ownership has its own issues (just like the Bears).

A cool moment. Too bad the Bears didn’t draft this offensive lineman.

Kevin Warren has to know one win won’t change things. George McCaskey should have no say in the head coach hire given his track record. I think Poles stays but wish he wouldn’t. And I hope they get Ben Johnson or Mike Vrabel at this point. As far as Williams being the problem, I see more of an undisciplined football team and an offensive line that is horrendous. They definitely need to throw the ball down the field as they can’t live on screens and short gains though.

So I looked into an antenna for my house and found a bunch of cables downstairs leading to different parts of the house - outside, up through the floor to extend to the three seasons room, up in the attic and into the bedrooms. Then, when my dad and I were putting up some lights so we could see in the attic at our main staircase and in my wife’s closet and we found an antenna set up with a cable connected in the attic and on the east side of the house. We found the cable that hooked up to the TVs, an input and output box in the basement and some cables with a tag that said “ANT” on it. Once those were plugged in, the tv found all of the channels through the air, including CHSN. It was pretty sweet that we had an antenna all set up just sitting there in the attic. Good thing the previous owner didn’t have it taken down when they got Direct TV and then Comcast.

Hoping so. Some people pointed out years ago that Rodgers played behind a terrible line and still made plays so the Bears QBs should do the same. I don’t buy that argument and think the line is needed. Luckily and in theory, the Bears should be able to snag a top offensive lineman with a top 10 pick in the draft.

I watched the game last night and thought that Washington was lucky. But I also liked their offensive scheme and their ability to move the ball. They seem to get several players involved and don’t do short passes. They free Daniels up to make throws, something I don’t see the Bears doing with Williams. Maybe the line play is better or a team can do more with a stronger line.
-
Hope so, especially because he’s supposed to be a generational quarterback.

LT Rasheed Walker, ‘22 7th round pick LG Elgton Jenkins, ‘19 2nd round pick C Josh Myers, ‘21 2nd round pick RG Sean Rhyan, ‘22 3rd round pick RT Zach Tom, ‘22 4th round pick I was thinking about the timing of a hire, like I think Johnson might not be able to be hired until after Detroit’s run in the postseason. I’d hope Warren is searching for Poles’ replacement by now if he’s going to fire him. I also wonder if coaches like Rivera or Carroll have ties to the GM they’d want to work with.

Amen Olin Kruetz.

The screens remind me of Nagy’s offense or John Shoop’s. lol
-
I also don’t think receivers running 10-20 yards down the field always makes sense when he’s running for his life a lot of the time too. I can see some times where he’s holding the ball too long, but I don’t think that’s the main issue.
-
Does Williams deserve more blame for holding onto the ball too long, or is he out of sync, playing behind a pathetic line and playing in a crap offense that reminds me of Nagy’s?
-
To your point, they should interview a bunch of candidates to learn from them and cast a wide net in their search. I paused when I thought of Carroll. His age is something I considered, but isn’t a dealbreaker. I want a coach with actual head coaching experience if possible. If that person does not have experience, then I would need to see someone be a standout coordinator like Ben Johnson. If they went the Lovie Smith esque route they better have a plan for Caleb Williams instead of a variety of different offensive coordinators. This was something they dealt with during the Cutler years.
-
I wonder if Cunningham would stay if the Bears fired Poles and elevated Cunningham. Or if that would even happen. I just don’t see them firing the GM that drafted Williams unless they keep some continuity with Cunningham.
-
RIP Bill Melton. He was great on TV and seemed like a wonderful man.
-
How is that working for you and where are you located? I’m in Woodridge and am considering an antenna by my TV, but could be persuaded to use something in my attic if it gives better results. I mostly don’t want to buy an antenna if it doesn’t work.
-
Is this what you have? I have a Samsung smart TV so I wondered how well it would work with the TV. I’d rather buy something that works rather than be left with something that doesn’t, but it sounds like this has worked for you rather well. What do you do for internet if you don’t have Xfinity cable and what does internet cost you now? Also, does anyone know what Comcast will take away if I ask for Marquee to be removed?

Some reading material on the 2025 NFL Head Coaching candidates. I’ll be interested to see how Thomas Brown finishes out the year and if they’ll also interview coaches like Ben Johnson, Joe Brady and Kliff Kingsbury. My favorite is Johnson, but I don’t know if he’d consider coming here with what he’s got going for him in Detroit.
-
This is probably right, but does Poles getting another coach like Mike Vrabel, Kliff Kingsbury or Ben Johnson actually do anything? Or is it truly the ownership change that is needed since they Bears everything up?
