  1. David Stearns and anyone qualified to be a GM from Tampa Bay, Atlanta or the Dodgers. I would want as many scouts and teams as possible to model the team like the Rays - competitive almost every year on limited resources.
  2. Yikes, I don’t really want either of those guys in those positions but Nightengale was pretty clear.
  3. Laurence Holmes mentioned something on his special breaking news show about how KW wanted to trade Burger but Hahn had an Anderson deal in place that had to fall apart because of the Burger move. I’m not sure if that is just a rumor but I hadn’t seen it here and thought I’d mention it.
  4. Some names from past and current articles for consideration.
  5. Can we trade Jhan Marinez and Osvaldo Martinez in exchange for Kim Ng?
  6. Reinsdorf finally pulled the trigger but it was too late to matter. Sox fans got two of the three moves they wanted except for JR selling. Fans had enough losing, cancelling SoxFest, hiring TLR and dealing Burger. Sullivan then becomes a marketing and sales expert and calls for Boyer to be fired due to attendance and for the postgame 90s and hip hop concerts. Maybe if he understood demographics, the market of how Sox fans operate and promotions he would have something better to say. He goes on to say something he has more expertise in, communications. How the Sox won’t share much with fans and get players like TA talking and Pedro Grifol is obligated to talk but doesn’t give insights into his line of thinking. He says JR should have talked more to fans since he muted himself since the 90s. Sullivan gives his opinion on the press statement and questions JR for not making the decision sooner, like in 2021. He wasn’t surprised by Hahn’s firing and said KW’s firing was more striking, given he was the architect of the 2005 World Series and kept Don Cooper past his expiration date. Sullivan believes JR is looking for someone like Epstein to come in and make changes. Going out of the organization is a must. He includes a quote from Scott Harris who is the Tigers president and from the Epstein tree. The quote was about creating culture to drive the organization to success. He then talks about the news in the context of the possibility of moving the club. He raised how there is nothing structurally wrong with the park that would make the team have to leave for a new one. The leak of a move suggests he doesn’t care, could move the team to Nashville and he won’t care about his legacy. He references the Brooklyn Dodgers leaving and the owner of that team profiting off the move. So JR’s family won’t care about moving the team out of the city of Illinois if they are to profit off of it. Then he cites clubhouse issues, today’s news, the Burger trade and rumors about the team fleeing about how it is to be a White Sox fan.
  7. Two different sources. Let’s hope Lip Man 1 is right. I’d hope they would raid the Dodgers and Rays. Or get a consultant to help with the search process. I’d love it, but I do doubt that it happens. Key word is internal. It’s also one source. Let’s let things play out. I have similar thoughts. McCaskey was the king of consultants and finally got a working pair (for now). It’s baseball, but the idea still applies. It’s a billionaire without knowledge of the game. They could conceivably hire a consultant and do an interview process similar to the Chicago Bears in 2022. His son did in fact hire outside of the organization and while it hasn’t panned out yet, it did happen and he did not go internal. Key word: Candidate. Not a done deal by any stretch. That was one of my thoughts as well.
  8. I want nothing more than to raise my son as a White Sox fan so he can enjoy the bond I had as a kid. I’m with you if my son chose otherwise.
  9. What if the new GM and leadership keeps him for one year and then cans him?
  10. This is what Soxtalk will b**** about if it actually happens. But a search for a new candidate to take over the ops like Theo Epstein did with the Cubs would be outstanding.
  11. Hopefully people on this board will understand that distinction, moving out of Chicago and remaining in Illinois is one thing, leaving the state for another city and state like Nashville, TN is another thing. There’s just no tie to Chicago at that point.
  12. Fine to leave the G Spot, but not fine to leave Chicago. The Nashville White Sox wouldn’t be the same, I’d be pissed like the A’s fans and probably couldn’t remain a fan without a Chicago connection. And I don’t see how the team gets contracted, they aren’t the Expos.
  13. That is fair, but consider the remaining games. Should Sosa and Perez start every game or most games?
  14. Tanking only gets so far in terms of the odds of the draft pick anyway. At some point you want to see the team win and members on future teams contribute in whatever role possible.
  15. On one hand, some fans are bitching about a win. On the other hand, it was nice to see a win and some hits by Sosa, Moncada and Colas.
  16. I’m aware of last night’s performance. Why throw him again tonight?
  17. Hendriks would have saved that game. Shaw might have gotten the save tonight with how much Santos worked last night. This is the result I expected with how this team has underperformed all season. The ballgame was starting to look concerning for me when they didn’t get runs with the bases loaded and nobody out and Madrigal got the bomb. The quote from Robert about leaders in a Tribune article today is concerning. The Cubs seem to have it, how do the Sox get that from players? Who goes and more importantly who fits the bill? The season will come to and end and hopefully we will know more about the team’s and org’s future.
  18. What it boils down to in an argument with Cubs fans is that in our lifetimes, each of us has only seen one World Series win. The difference is that the Sox went 11-1 in their postseason run, while the Cubs needed some luck.
  19. Here’s an observation that I would need to back up with more long term data. The White Sox do a good job of finding players like Santos or Middleton for the bullpen but miss a lot of high priced arms. I’d have to think of other examples of guys who don’t make a ton and travel around a bit but perform well for the White Sox.
  20. f*** the Cubs and some of their fans who happen to suck and be assholes! Nice pitching and Robert bomb to win a game the Cubs needed to have.
  21. I want to know if the reason they won’t do this is contractual and can’t get enough players to attend. Or if there is an issue with the price of the event that JR doesn’t want to pay and he doesn’t take in enough money. Or there isn’t enough fan interest. It doesn’t seem like not wanting to face the music is the only or main reason for not commuting to or doing the event.
