  1. I don’t really understand what Getz is doing with his transactions. I could understand Pham and Kopech not having much value, but I am having a tough time understanding how them with Fedde yielded such a low return. This organization is going to be in the wilderness for some time if they don’t make moves that make sense or develop talent. Can’t wait for Bears season.
  2. I saw this while I ate my lunch and dreamed for a few minutes, even if I know in reality much of this might not and probably won’t happen.
  3. Another player that I wish the Sox would have signed and flipped.
  4. I wonder what happened to HSC and Stef/Steph? on the boards from around that time.
  5. Then it seems like the White Sox will have to hit on the draft picks they do have, scout overseas and invest wisely. Which we know they haven’t with what has been said in other threads. Although I can withhold further judgement until after the deadline and into the offseason. Getz is still taking out the trash so maybe he will be able to spend more (wisely…) in the offseason and help himself from making stupid trades like Mena for Fletcher, as an example.
  6. Great post. Hopefully people who fall into the Score see that tomorrow.
  7. Seeing what the Cubs did today makes sense. They saw some opportunity with the Tampa third baseman and traded Morel and an aging pitcher in their system. I can understand what their front office is doing, but I can’t understand what Getz is doing, or what lies or ideas he sold Jerry on to replace Hahn and Williams.
  8. But what happened to the Frank Thomas’, Alex Fernandez’s, Mark Buehrle’s and Tadahito Iguchi’s of the world? Poor drafting and not willing to pay the posting fee/get into bidding wars? You’re right that something is off and there are several factors but it just doesn’t seem to be so difficult.
  9. Not sure, we need one of our knowledgeable posters to pull this up if a Google search doesn’t show the answer easily. Is an estate tax minimal compared to a capital gains tax? The Tampa way makes sense to me. Too bad JR’s executives and scouts don’t know how to find talent and don’t have the staff to develop talent like Tampa does. I think I have actually gotten more into football as the years have gone on. My first love may have been the White Sox, but the Bears have been more interesting as of late even during the Nagy era. Same. And I don’t want my son to become one.
  10. I might have to check out the Chicago Dogs or Kane County Cougars. I doubt I’ll be a Cubs fan, it doesn’t make economic sense for me, what is what was always so great about Sox games. Tailgating, affordable tickets and easy to get to and get home. I can’t say the same about Wrigley and I have no attachment to that team. Though I don’t really have an attachment to this team and haven’t been a huge fan in some time. They were fun to watch in the 2000s but I can’t say the same now, save for the Tim Anderson walk off against Detroit and the Yankees and the walk off grand slam by Jose Abreu against Tampa Bay.
  11. I wouldn’t have gone if my friend didn’t want to go. Same with my dad. We would not have gone unless people wanted to go, especially since I’d rather spend any money I have with family.
  12. Yes, part of me thinks that if they were going to deal people, they would have done so like the Rays did by now. It would sure suck to be Pham or DeJong if they were on this team after the deadline.
  13. How did they build an offense in the 90s and early 2000s?
  14. And he can enjoy that money when he’s in his grave in ten years.
  15. The only thing I think they are doing is trying to lose, not spend and get the team ready to sell and move. The lack of investment in the team, gimmicks to get crowds in the stadium getting rid of SoxFest, finding it acceptable to lose makes it seem like they just want to sell and don’t care about the fan base. I went to the game with my son today and thankfully just spent $80 on everything. I started to think, let’s enjoy what we can before they become the Nashville White Sox. If anything we enjoyed a home run in the section we moved down to from the upper deck. Take that Jerry! And my $80.
  16. I doubt that he’s right.
  17. I’m going on Sunday with my son and some friends. Bad idea…
  18. I started following the White Sox in 1998, when I went to a late season White Sox game against the Yankees. The next spring, my dad took me to the third game of the year. I had just quit playing baseball to be an umpire and my dad was looking for something for us to bond over. We were working in the back yard when he asked me if I wanted to go to the game. Off we went. We got to the park and didn’t have tickets and were headed to the box office, when a guy and his daughter approached us and offered tickets to join them. My dad and I followed them and we walked towards home plate. We eventually get to the seats and we found ourselves three rows behind the plate. My dad and I couldn’t believe it. We also got to see Jermaine Dye play that day and he became one of my dad’s favorite players to watch. This lead to countless games when I was a kid, making Sunday Kids Days and Fuji Film Photo Days a regular habit. We would go to SoxFest when I was younger and had a blast. In 2005, my dad got seats in the 300 level and generously gave me tickets to go with friends and a girlfriend at the time. I also met some posters around here sometime between 2004-2005 and attended some games with them. I’ve had my birthday game at Sox Park for all except this year, when my daughter was born and I had to be home to help my wife. I had my own bachelor party there and hosted a friend’s bachelor party there. I saw the Tim Anderson walk off against Detroit in 2019, a Jose Abreu walk off grand slam against the Rays in 2014?, Carlos Lee’s walkoff grand slam against the Cubs, several White Sox bullpen meltdowns against the Twins and more recently against the Rays in 2023, when they couldn’t stop the losing streak and Vaughn needed to the next day, along with Konerko’s last game, Buehrle versus Sale and my first game during the pandemic which turned out to be my last game with my father in law, who learned he had pancreatic cancer six months later and died less than a year later. The night before my father in law passed, I took my dad to the Sox game against Houston and got great seats so that we could celebrate his retirement, I could thank him for all he did for me and we could watch a game together as my father in law would have wanted. I have tons of memories at the park and have continued them with my son. My parents, my wife and I took my son to his first game against the Twins last fall. It was a terrible game that the White Sox did not have a chance winning. I’ll take my son, now three, to his second game this Sunday with a friend of mine, some of his kids and his father in law. Hopefully my dad shows up so we can have three generations of Sox fans watching the games together.
  19. What did he do? Maybe he’s depressed for being the worst ranked broadcaster.
  20. Do you trust they will get enough for Robert though?
  21. Joniak: “FAAAADDDEE TO BLACK.”
  22. Great play. Take him out after this.
  23. Grifol and Katz look stressed. Maybe the original poster is wearing them out?
  24. Add to it. Nevermind.
