I’m admittedly not sure if the CDC keeps track of people they have vaccinated to the extent that I think they do. I’m just pointing out it doesn’t come down to flashing vaccination cards, that doesn’t work. I didn’t get so far to think about resale with StubHub. I thought it might be possible that the CDC would get centralized reporting but I guess not. Hopefully they do enforce social distancing and masks and if people don’t follow the rules in the park, I hope security escorts them out and the fans in the section sarcastically cheer just like when some drunken or offensive idiot gets escorted out. We’ve all seen it happen in those circumstances before.

If it is an app that is tied to a database that proves someone is vaccinated, that shouldn’t be a problem. You could even tie it to tickets and people could get things scanned at once. It’s not impossible. Not necessarily...it depends on the information being shared. That’s just not true, read about what I wrote above. It’s not theatre either. It protects everyone involved, including the health of fans and employees and the owners from liability. Why not do what I described until herd immunity with vaccines is reached?

And if someone has a problem with needing a vaccine to get in, that is too damn bad.

A ticket on an app with a vaccine card tied to the ticket and the CDC database shouldn’t be that hard. Exactly. After what we have gone through over the last year I can’t see why anyone would object, unless they are freedom caucus warriors.

I’ll be curious to see if people will need to provide proof of vaccinations (like on an app connected to a CDC database) for people to get in to full capacity sporting events and concerts.

I haven’t heard much about the long term side effects but if there was something major, the media would be all over it. Just think of it this way, if you are eligible, get the vaccine because you are helping fight the virus by having more people be vaccinated. Wouldn’t you rather have protection against the variants instead of having nothing at all? The best ways to combat the variants are to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible and continue to wear masks.

Fair enough but if you look at past mayoral races and how often people win re-election, I don’t see how she will lose this time around.

Let me put it this way. I am going to enjoy the White Sox this year, but I also am realistic. It is possible that key players regress from last year’s performances, that acquisitions do not live up to what they should be able to bring to this club and that injuries take a toll on the team and expose depth issues (which is why I thought more money spent on pitching and another bat would help and I can easily see them standing pat at the deadline). However, it is possible that the perfect storm I mention above does not happen, players like Vaughn, Cease and Kopech take the next step forward and flourish this year and the team wins 90+ games and a division title. I would call progress actually winning a series in the postseason this year and getting ready to win a World Series either this year or in the coming years. I think it is dangerous for people (not necessarily you) to not consider what could happen to negatively impact this team. I’m optimistic they will be competitive, but I also don’t have blinders on to the issues the team could face this year.

Will people be able to hug their grandkids without a mask on before putting it back on? There are no guarantees. Numbers are falling because of the precautions being in place. Variants will become dominant, especially by mid March in the United States. If restrictions are lifted we could see increases in cases, but not necessarily in deaths or hospitalizations and could bring on a new wave. So what do we do? I’m curious, would it be so bad to wear masks until enough kids (the rest of the population) are vaccinated? Also, what do people think will happen for people to gain entry into concerts or sporting events? Will people need to show proof on an app linked to the CDC’s database? I guess it depends on the liability that owners want to take on if there is an outbreak and they get sued. As a father of a 4 month old and someone who is looking to change jobs and may have to take the train into a new employer, I would like the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine since my wife (a teacher) and I could have protection but my son wouldn’t at least until the end of this year or maybe next. It’s certainly not the same situation as you have but I am sure you can understand why I would want more protection.

My fear is that he won’t spend the kind of money needed to go get the guys they need to fill in the gaps or bring the team to the next level. I think some on this site are extremely high on prospects but they can trade some away and get some proven players. I haven’t seen him play and don’t know much about him, but is Vaughn really good? What happens if one of the arms in the rotation goes down? From a depth perspective I wish they would have signed another starter not named Rodon when more were out there and I would have liked a major league hitter come to DH even with what happened with Encarnacion. But we will see what happens and where they could have done better as the season rolls on.

No I am not going that far. I remain disappointed that he was hired in the way he was because I thought they were headed in a new direction after years of the same way the organization was run. I’ll be curious as to how the guy I wanted managing the team, Hinch does in Detroit. I’ll also be curious to see what the plan is when TLR retires and if someone on the coaching staff takes over or if they hire from within the system. If TLR still has it and can manage, great and let’s get down to business and go win.

It’s disappointing to say the least. Clearly JR hired his guy to fix a wrong from 30+ years ago and Hahn had no say in it.
