It’s all about defiance, just like what Greg said. Those dudes in the video were great and all but a few of the males in there were complete assholes.

So you take issue with the inconsistencies shown because the state government wasn’t allowing for haircuts despite precautions, but was allowing protests. I heard similar arguments from people who wanted a 4th of July parade that was cancelled because of the re-opening phase we were in and because of the risk of large crowds, even though the protests by me were significantly smaller than a crowd of a parade. I don’t “freak out” on people when I disagree with them Greg. I don’t necessarily agree with much of what you said, but I at least acknowledged your argument.

What did you want your local and state government to do? What did you expect from your government when you wrote to them?

So John Hopkins’ and The NY Times data won’t be reliable if all of it is sent to Washington DC? That’s not transparent at all. What are they going to do, figure out demographics and associated medical conditions and figure out if COVID-19 really killed someone, and for cases just take a percentage of them each day? He’s a full of dog shit CEO used car salesman if this actually happens.

I’ve been getting texts about the US census and a coronavirus response. I haven’t been answering them because I wasn’t sure if it was a scam or not. It’s just odd to get a text on the census and COVID-19.

I just can’t understand why Trump didn’t wear a mask and encourage others to do so. His base would have worn a mask. We had some time for this but the reaction just wasn’t there. It’s easy to blame for past mistakes, but the response could have been better.

Maybe in naive bayes, but not necessarily with people’s posting histories. It’s amazing how many people are doing about-faces now.

What a dumb fuck. Labels like leftist, the left, liberals and libtards aren’t intelligent, especially when used on cable channels and in headlines. This is how crap is spread and how people believe and spew this garbage.

What would you say if they did three days of instruction in school and two days of learning from home? Currently my wife’s district is proposing class for last names A-M, then N-Z, then online on Wednesday, last names A-M and then N-Z. What do you think about that? The stupid part about this, they told the parents but haven’t told the staff yet. That makes no sense whatsoever. It also sucks they haven't released plans for many districts yet and we are almost halfway through July. Also, whose responsibility is it to provide PPE and thermometers? The state? Should federal funds be used or state funds? What should happen if there’s and increase in cases and it isn’t sustainable, do we keep classes in school or what would you propose? You seem thoughtful and have a wife who is a teacher so I thought I would ask.

Trump finally wore a mask and in public. Now he dispatched his surgeon general and the assistant secretary for health on the Sunday shows to promote masks and defend the administration. Now he would be best served to go in front of the cameras and say to wear masks and their benefits. But still, this is the same dude that said that his opponent wearing a mask is weak. Nice about-face.

She did mention something about placental damage, but I haven’t heard about infections. We will go with what the doctor says about her going back to work in the fall, but it would be great if she could work with her maternity plans. Of course we could also swing her being out of work if the doctor so ordered or they couldn’t accommodate her, but that is why we are taking it day by day and saving everything we can! And it is convenient that I work from home and handle the shopping and everything outside so it is unlikely for us to get anything. (I do wear a mask, we don’t go out and see people on occasion.)

She has been following it more closely than I have, but what should I know? Any questions about the virus or the pregnancy are going straight to the doctor but I could always use more information to consider. It’s hard not to worry but we can’t do anything with worrying and have to take things a day at a time.

Are the people protesting wearing masks? Are they protesting outside? At the president’s rallies, are participants wearing masks or social distancing? We can complain about Mr. Trump each day if we want to, he is not leading against the virus from the top, is not considering teachers when returning to work this fall, is using schools reopening as a tool to reopen the economy without regard for lives and he is not for anyone other than his base. He also can’t unilaterally defund public schools, which are primarily funded through local and state taxes. After 2016, there is no way that we can assume he is not going to win.

How is one guy’s opinion so popular? And how is that network so popular when people often cite their talking heads? I don’t get it.

I’m a moderate and there’s no way I’m breaking from the left nationally. What exactly was CHAZ/CHOP about? Statues don’t really bother me, especially if they are confederate statues. I wonder how the polls are so inaccurate. People are just lying? Pollsters have to somehow know if someone is lying by the answers to questions.

Automation is going to be tough on the economy. It’s part of one of the reasons I went back to get some modern skills even though I’m no expert. (And if I don’t succeed, I’m definitely considering healthcare or web development down the road.) But what is important is coming up with a product that helps employees do their jobs. Or figuring out what to do with employees. I don’t think it necessarily will be retraining or UBI, but I don’t know. It’s going to be a complex issue if jobs get automated away. You are right to pursue something that you can apply to your interests. I see more of a future with healthcare data, so that is one other reason to leave my company, in addition to what I previously mentioned. It all depends on the opportunities available though. You are also right about communication, although I am a rookie at this stuff and I wish people would teach more rather than assuming I know this stuff. It’s all about speaking up, pushing back and collaborating. My concern is also that because I am new, I will get into a role and they will become impatient with me if I don’t catch on initially, but I have a feeling they would give warnings and training before they would fire me. They being a hypothetical employer. Best of luck to you in your program and if you want, PM me and we can connect on LinkedIn. There is so much to learn in terms of data visualization, statistics, data analysis and machine learning, in addition to programming. Luckily it is rare that there is a unicorn who does that all well and opportunities will present themselves for those with a background. I hope.

All over the place and I may go to school in the future for something unrelated if this doesn’t work out. I graduated with a business degree and have worked in HR, marketing and insurance so far. If the company pays for some of the graduate degree, I would say it is worth it. I think learning programming at a boot camp or getting a graduate degree that is in data science is worthwhile. Software development seems to have less of a barrier to understand, although you may find it easier to grasp data science with a quantitative background. Feel free to take this to PMs if you want to discuss there instead.
