  1. Is the land zoned for residential? I'm not sure what a developer would put there now. The Bears would have very little leverage in a sale if the buyer knew they had to move the property asap.
  2. yeah and Bagent was an undrafted rookie free agen from a nobody school. Justin Fields was a top 15 pick from Ohio State University with a few years of NFL experience under his belt. The gap between the dudes is not that large if we are talking about playing QB. Justin Fields would be a much better running back than Tyler Bagent 100% though.
  3. Looks like there is very little demand for Justin Fields as a starting NFL quarterback. The trade value of Justin Fields keeps going down with each passing day. It's looking more and more like Poles played himself here.
  4. Well Soxtalk never saw the Tim Anderson to catcher pipedream realized. We might actully see the Justin Fields move from QB to gadget running back/wide receiver happen though.
  5. He won't be once they draft Caleb Williams. Hell, he might not even be the best QB on the roster now. The gap between Fields and Bagent isn't much.
  6. Who is going to buy up that Arlington Heights property? The Bears are going to take a haircut if they put it back on the market anytime soon.
  7. They might just end up not trading him at all actually.
  8. The two organizations working together on something never made any realistic sense to me. There is no way they can share a stadium and it seems impossible to put both a baseball stadium and a football stadium at the 78 site. I still think the Bears end up out in Arlington Heights. They already have the land purchased. Arlington Heights is also so much easier to get to for a majority of their fanbase and season ticket holders. It seems like a natural fit.
  9. I really hope the Bears aren't going to follow the Sox free agent model of eschewing any big ticket free agents in favor of spreading the $$ around on 5-6 signings.
  10. And why should they? This whole scenario has been fascinating to observe. The only leverage Jerry has left is to threaten to move the team if he doesn't get his way. It is very hard to teach an old dog a new trick and JR is no exception.
  11. Agree. I remember when this dude dropped a game winning touchdown for Detroit week 1 of the 2020 season. The Lions moved on from him for a reason.
  12. And as JR has stated numerous times this dichotomy is not his fault at all. The White Sox are in the position they are in because they have shitty fans, not incompetent management and ownership.
  13. The State of Illinois and the Bears still owe like 300-400 million on the Soldier Field renovation, no? How are they planning to make those debt payments disappear?
  14. Who says that you can't continue to do these things? It's been the White Sox way for a long long time.
  15. Maybe JR should ask the taxpayers of Illinois and Chicago to help fund a Dylan Cease contract extension. I'm sure the City or State can install a license plate reader at the 35st Street exit off the Dan Ryan. Every car that uses that exit is tolled fifty cents into a White Sox free agent fund.
  16. The Claypool trade is looking more and more like a Rick Hahn special. What a terrible trade. There is a pretty decent chance Claypool isn't even on a NFL roster this Fall.
  17. Most reasonable people aren't saying the White Sox shouldn't get any incentives at all. It makes sense for the City and State to kick in some $$$ to fund the infrastucture and improvements to local public transit that will be needed with a new stadium. It appears that Jerry and company don't want a just a few incentives though. I haven't seen any reporting yet that JR plans to open up his checkbook at all for this new stadium and that is absolutely insane. Again, he wants to socialize all the risk, but there is no way in hell he will share any profits. JR needs to pay his fair share if he wants to get this project off the ground. It is really that simple.
  18. Yep. Ekeler looks like he is toast. Dude was painful to watch second half of last year. Looked like he had concrete shoes on. Getting Saquon on a 2-3 year reasonable deal would be pretty awesome. Tony Pollard is a free agent as well but he is coming off a disappointing year.
  19. The simple truth is that JR doesn't want to pay his fair share. He wants to socialize any potential losses and risk, but he sure as hell isn't gonna share any profits. Also, you won't have to pay more than a few bucks to get into the stadium soon anyway. There ain't much demand for what JR is selling these days.
  20. This pretty much describes the failed rebuild strategy started by Hahn and company once Sale was traded away. It didn't work last time. It won't work this time.
  21. The Bears will happily move into a new stadium next door if they don't have to pay for it. Both organizations want the taxpayers of Illinois to foot bearly the entire bill for constructing these new stadiums. They simply do not want to pay their fair share.
  22. There is absolutley no way the Bears will keep Justin Fields past the draft. Taking Caleb Willimas at #1 and then brining back Fields would be creating so much unnecessary drama. Poles and company are losing more and more leverage with each passing day. Let's hope there is an actual bidding war going on behind the scenes for Fields, but something tells me he already would have been traded if that was the case.
  23. Everys single GM knows that the Bears want to trade Fields asap. It really appears like Poles showed his hand too early here. Rival GMS interested in Fields can simply wait Poles out. The asking price for Fields goes down a bit more with each passing day.
  24. Convoluted indeed. Next to zero chance something like that happens. JR threatening to move the team is 100% a bluff. His threat to move worked last time. It won't work again. Time for the one trick pony to learn a new act. Or he can just be grateful that he had a seat at the table.
