2023-24 NFL Season Thread

Keeping Fields around for another "development" year is totally off the table in my mind. The dude has had pleny of time to show that he is a franchise quarterback. The time is up on Fields. -

Stroud balled out again yesterday and almost took down Lawrence and the Jags. Dude is looking like a legit franchise quarterback. Both the Panthers and Bears screwed up big time by not taking him 1.1. -

Do the Bears take Caleb Williams or Harrison Junior if they end with the #1 pick? I think you gotta fire the whole coaching staff and front office this offseason if you are planning to take a QB with the Carolina pick. -

So did the Bears screw up massivelly by trading away the #1 pick and not drafting CJ Stroud? The dude looks like an absolute beast out there and is only going to get better as he gains more experience and gets better weapons around him. Its looking more and more like the Bears had a franchise QB there for the taking. Now they gotta hope Carolina continues to tank and hope that Caleb Williams is an actual guy. -

Did Poles and company screw up big time by trading away the #1 Pick? Cj Stroud was sitting there for the taking... -
State of the Sox: Obvious to Everyone

and with the new rules, tanking and winning 50 games next year won't even guarantee the Sox a top 3 draft pick, correct? -

The trade isn't about this season it seems. However, the dude was going to hit free agency in a fewm short months. I hear what you are saying. Could have kept the second rounder and just signed the dude in the offseason. -
This was a terrible trade the second it was made and it is getting worse and worse with each passing day. Jake Burger is a legit major league baseball player. Jake Eder is likely to be selling insurance in two or three years. Sox got played here big time.

Sunday night is gonna be a big big test for Bagent and the Bears offense. The Chargers with Mack and Bosa are going to get much better pressure than the Raiders. The Chargers have been real good against the run this year as well. Wouldn't suprise me to see the Chargers blitz a ton and play man to man with jamming on the Bears receivers. -

Yep. Fields is in very real danger of getting Wally Pipped. If the Secret Bagent Man leads the Bears to victory out in LA against the Chargers, then I'm not sure how you can justify starting Fields again this year. -
Craig Kimbrel is out there pitching in high leverage situations and getting people out. The dude was so so bad for the White Sox. Crazy to see him turn it around.
-
Ouch. Tampa Bay shut out at home in game 1. Tampa may have blown its wad back in April and May with that unbeliavable start. Their current lineup scares no one.

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...

The Sox won't compete next year but they will have a better record than this year. There will be absolutley no expectations or pressure next year. Hardly anyone in the media will even being attention. This is the kind of environment the majority of the organization and players fit in and recognize best. No expecations and no pressure next year won't equal a winning season but the Sox won't lose 100 plus games next year. Something like 68 and 94 sounds about right. -

Poles is looking more and more like the wrong guy as well unfortuntaely. 2023 was not supposed to be another tank year. -
I feel bad for anyone trying to make a living in the White Sox ticket sales office. Things are going to be very ugly at the gates next year. I'm sure advertisers are jumping ship as well. Not sure why any decent and respectable company would want to be associated with the White Sox right now.

Ha. No need to apologize. As I mentioned in another thread, I work with failing and floundering comapnies/organizations all the time as part of my 9 to 5. Warning signs went flashing in my head as soon as I heard Grifol speak publicily during that long losing streak in April. The Sox have/had the wrong people at pretty much every key position in the organization. They were setup to fail from the jump this year and boy did they ever. -
Interest in the Sox has absolutely hit rock bottom. It is pretty amazing how these clowns completely and totally tanked and destroyed their company brand.
-
Imagine if the biggest fraud in baseball was fired after the 2016 season. Revisionist history and all, but the Sox might have actually won a playoff series or two if dumb and dumber were shown the door like they should have been.

Yes. The 49ers have competent people all throughout their organization. The Chicago Bears do not unfortuntately. -

I understand that the rebuild was going to take some time. However, this year has been an absolute disaster. Another tank job for the #1 pick was not supposed to be in the cards again this year. It is becoming evident that the Bears have the wrong people in key decision making roles all throughout the organization. When is the tanking going to end? How does this team suddently become a playoff worthy team next year? -

None of this looks good for Ryan Poles. I'm not convinced at all that him and his scouts have any clue on how to properly evaluate and scout talent. They didn't know what they had in Fields going into year 3 and we are supposed to trust that they can properly evaluate a top QB for 2024? Color me skeptical here. -

Being scared of the media because you made a trade is not how successful organizations are run. So is the scouting and projecting of college quarterbacks a complete and total crapshoot? CJ Stroud may not have been a better prospect than Fields but he is already the better NFL quarterback. Aren't people paid big bucks to scout, evaluate, and project these kids? Seems like the Bears have no idea what they are doing. Very similiar to the Sox unfortuntely. -

Nobody in the Bears organization could evaluate Justin Fields properly? Why the hell was this kid brought back for this year? 3 games in to the year and it is already time to bail on Fields? -

So it's looking more and more like the play was to sell high on Fields last offseason. CJ Stroud is looking legit. Bears could have just taken him #1 and gotten some additional draft capital by moving Fields. Now we have to sit through another tank job in order to get another #1 pick. Unreal. -

This has already happened. Tampa did an excellent job of not breaking containment last week on defense. A smart D coordinator is going to scheme to make Fields beat you with his arm. The dude has to learn to be a much better passer out of the pocket. There is no way around this. Him running around all game is very entertaining and fun to watch but he is gonna get killed if he is running 10-15 times every game. The guy isn't built like Cam Newton.
