  1. How much Jethro Tull have you heard? If you don't knock them into the "Progressive Rock" category that they do occupy, and you look at it in the ways of much of the world (and have never heard of Prog Rock), there is no other category for Tull than Metal. Plus, much Prog falls in the Metal world and most Metalheads have a few Prog bands that they enjoy. Check out Anglagard for one. Edit!!!!!!!!!! Also, at the time of this happening, Metal was a MUCH different critter than it is now. Death Metal had yet to really show up outside of Napalm Death, Celtic Frost, and Slayer, and none of those really are what we now see as Death Metal. There was very little EXTREME Metal, and what there was was more of Crossover stuff from the NY Hardcore scene, and it was not recognized by the media. Frustrating thing some of us was all the "originality" being praised about with bands such as Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth and others, when in reality there were many bands such as Agnostic Front and The Cro-Mags blazing those trails first in the NY underground. Ahem...sorry. But yeah, in 1988, Tull was surely a "Metal" band in the eyes of much of society.
  2. I actually DO like Tull though.
  3. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Ewww. That show was awful. Remember those weird GED programs on at like 11:30 am too? I used to watch that or Emergency before going to Kindergarten. Emergency. I am still awaiting the Series DVD for THAT one! I will be the first in line for that release. Dixie...oh Dixie...
  4. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) Zoobalee Zoo. Now I will have nightmares. That dang show STILL creeps me out, especially that dang hippo with the hanky.
  5. I didn't like either. I prefered the 3:30 movies on ABC when they would do the theme weeks based around gorillas or whatever and would show the Planet Of The Apes, King Kong movies and then also would have the Godzilla and other giant critter movies. But if I had to pick one, Electric Company, just for the cheesy Spider-Man episodes. Plus the beginning of Zoom was just annoying.
  6. I can't stand Pro Wrestling, but being into Martial Arts, and being a fan of Martial Arts films, I can VERY easily appreciate the skill these people display in their jobs. My complete turning point was the ECW. The stuff those people did, and they maintained the "act" while doing the show, THAT was amazing. Realize that much of this stuff is done LIVE. Heck man, you see a baseball player get hit by a ball, and you see them wince in pain, roll on the ground and whatnot. These guys are friggin' jumping from 20' heights to crash on top of some other guy, then get up and throw him out of the ring. Not once do you see them show any signs of being hurt. It's is all quite amazing when you realize what is going on, act or not. You think your football players are tough? HA!
  7. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Although the music isn't as good as it was then, its still better than most of the music out there. I thought the last album had 3-5 good sounds....including St. Anger, Frantic and Some Kind of Monster. It was better than Reload. I'll just sit back and disagree with that one. And even if it was better than most music out there, I will still opt for scrounging the past of music history and find something worthwhile other than torturing myself with one of the worst albums ever recorded. If that thing was recorded by anybody without the past that those guyus have, it would have been laughed out of the record company. Terrible writing, absolutley terrible writing and arranging on every single song. "St. Anger"? Stupid name. Should have just named it "Complete and Utter s***" and just set those tapes and computers on fire. Sorry, no offense meant. But when I hear that album it makes me sad that so many great bands go unnoticed. I am also not a past scorned fan, BTW. I've always disliked that band, but I atleast appreciate the skill they used to show and have. Now they are victims of their own success and arrogance.
  8. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) I'm sure when he meets Bubba he will be singing but I don't think it will be a talent show of any sort!! Singing like Fletch: Moooooon River
  9. I'd say it's disrespectful if you ask one of the Bishops or somebody to get a picture of you and the family WITH the Pope. "Oh great...Bob's got pictures of his trip to Rome...oh...is that you and Judy with John Paul??? Oh, that's a nice picture, you don't get opportunities like that everyday now then, do you?"
  10. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Does the Count need to stress the importance of not drinking other people's blood? You know, with AIDS, hepatitis and all!
  11. I like the Dogfish. I know some buddies of mine have tired of it, and go in spurts as to which the like the most, the 60, 90 or 120. I wallow in the Belgium stuff more than the US IPA critters. Granted, I try to keep some of most styles in the DBF for those nights where I have no idea what I want, but when I get a little extra money I find I look to the land of the Monks and Abbeys more than the US micro. So long story short, I don't dabble with the IPA from Dog too much. I do LOVE their Raisin D'Etre (or however you spell it) though. The small version, not the 20+ABV monster.
  12. I hear Grimace is the Ring Bearer.
  13. Seems to be the same guy. I find it interesting that nobody is seeing the parts about this guy obviously having an agenda against Jackson. So this is so far showing us that nobody doing the accusing is of fine moral standards.
  14. http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/04/07/t...r.ap/index.html Man, this world had better get it's head out of it's ass pretty damn fast here.
  15. It is indeed a seasonal. A bar by me had it on tap a few months ago. It is not quite a double IPA, but it is dang close. It is one for the Hop Heads for sure. Actually...I have never had the Bigfoot. The same bar had Bigfoot, but I missed it.
  16. Oh man, I was only able to grab a little Celebration this year! Wonderful stuff! Did you ever get their Harvest Ale? It actually is better than the Celebration! Problem though is that they don't bottle it.
  17. Hmmmm, 3 home runs and a walk and they send the pitching coach? Something tells me Ozzie had better be getting ready to run out there. Hey cool, nobody else in the pen? Is Ozzie pulling a Dusty? Oh heck...I'm going to listen in the car.
  18. ...this is exciting... Hey, ya know...it ain't easy being a closer. I have to go home now. And cry...
  19. Well, the Bastard will be next door, but it may not make a showing at my house...yet. Big Beer sessions are a bit of a normal occurance around me. My next door neighbor, who is also my best friend and the guy I work with, is also a HUGE beer freak. He has the Racer 5 on kegerator in his basement bar. He has a full bar right now and recently stocked it with $600+ worth of fine beers for the basement bar opening bash, where a local bar even provided us a keg of Delirium Noel...for FREE!!! He ended up with a ton of beer left over. I also have a dedicated beer fridge that is usually very well stocked. I also have some Hacker-Pshorr Weiss (need to try the others only available in Germany), Franzenkahner, La Traape Quad, Westmalle Triple, Grimbergen, Lakefront Brewery, St. Bernardus Abt 12, Blue Moon (just O.K., but it is the wifes), New Belgium 1554, Summit Oktoberfest, Great Divide Denver Pale Ale...and I am now drawing a blank. So yeah, if you are in the Chicago/Milwaukee area, stop on by for a beer fest! My Celebrator Goats are starting their own damn country...
  20. Hey Jim...PICK MY BEER FOR THE EVENING! (I've had all of these, but I'll let you decide which I should enjoy this night) Bear Republic Racer 5 (HIGHLY hopped IPA, but it is a bomber, so...well...you know) Sierra Nevada Stout North Coast Old No. 38 (Stout from the Gods of the Imperial Stout Old Rasputin) My cousins home brewed IPA named Dead Spider Celebrator Orrrrrrrrr...possibly my buddy will be bringing over a bottle of Stone Arrogant Bastard.
  21. See, plenty of time left in this game... Dye. YES!!!
  22. I missed a bunch of the last few innings...how many hits do we have for two days? Am I right in we have two hits today???
  23. Is my sig too big? I've been trying to figure out how to shrink it. You have my permission to fix it if you need to. This is a seriously silly topic, but I am VERY impressed to see it reach page 9. I say you all go for a competitor for the Schiavo thread!!!
