QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) To be honest most of you on here are probably too young to get it. The Star Wars movies were something that completely changed a genre of entertainment. They were the Beatles of sci-fi. They did things that had never been done, and you have to put it into the context of 1977 to understand it. It's just like watching War of the Worlds today, and thinking it was just another crappy black and white movie. Geek time from Kid: I would actually say that the original films were like The Beatles for MOVIES in general, not just Sci-Fi, as people that weren't into Sci-Fi flocked to see these films. For some Sci-Fi fans it was the second coming of Christ. But for the readers of people like Harlan Ellison, it was the coming of the Apocolypse. As for your War Of The Worlds comparison, I know what you mean...BUT...the original George Pal film was in color.

I'm actually hoping for a Triumph The Dog: Return Of The Dorks II a little bit more than I am looking forward to the new film! This is one of the best stories I have heard in a looooong time though! BRILLIANT!

Oh come on though! You know the Pope would want Rice there! They hung out all the time!

Hey, I didn't talk you into it. You dropped me a line saying you had been getting into the song and wanted to give them a shot. Sheesh. I ain't no street team member for them (or anybody for that fact) either. Now the Marillion I had to talk you into. Maybe you are getting them mixed up. I know that they both wear make-up. Fish is the guy with the gills, remember? As for MCR, they might be using some pitch stuff now, but this is not their first release, and from what I have been told, they sound the same now as they always have. I would bet that they do some touch up work, but nothing drastic. I also can find no real evidence of pitch work on the CD, and you can usually tell a computer voice from a natural voice, and his voice sounds pretty natural to me, aside from the ultra fancy production work you get with any major label now days. Heck, the guitars sound more "fake" than his voice does. As for stage mannerisms, please. If we were to judge a person's sexuality by their performance on stage, I am afraid many, many, many people out there are Gay. Plus, if movements are the key to sexuality, you mean to tell me he was moving on stage like Rob Halford???

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) God damn it, man. I was getting ready to make fun of the BigHurt. Thanks a lot, buddy. Sorry...I could edit the post if you would like.

What's the saying? Turnabout is fairplay...or something such as that? Well, I got two songs from the older band Clowns For Progress from The Critic, looked into them, and found that their website has everything they recorded on it for download, so I grabbed the Progress album, and they were a GREAT band!

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) I can name quite a few: Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Jim Morrison, Clapton, Springsteen, Bono, etc. Dylan was an incredible songwriter. But I'm not sure that someone with his voice is in much of a position to be casting stones. Ummmm...Morrison is kind of...ummmm...dead. Though the BBC might be looking for an interview, he is surely dead.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Are you saying the heads of the Catholic church are lying?? LOL! Oops, yeah...um...that would probably fall in those 10 Commandments, wouldn't it? I think if they are, they are just protecting their own in a way. I'm not saying that they are or aren't though, I'm just saying how the media could have made the announcement without the Vaticans O.K. and the Vatican would just like it not done how it was. It is all a moot point, kind of.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) the vatican is denying he's dead. Yes, I know. But they could be just covering it up for the time being. Heck, people believed George Burns had been dead for sometime before it was announced. Granted, that was so they could say he made it to 100. But if some reporter got the news, and the Vatican didn't want it out yet, they could just say "no, he's still with us" while they do it their way.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) WTF, the media blows, such a bad blunder. Not really. It could have happened, but the Vatican might want to get itself together first and actually annouce it to the world. I would think that they might wish to pass the word on rather than have the casualty vampires of the media running around.

Wow...ummmm...DUH!!! I would think that ANY sort of fact checking would have brought up the current health state of Mr. Marley. I guess whoever wanted to do the documentary was a HUGE fan of his. How the heck does the BBC make that kind of a bonehead mistake?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) I'm not sure. It could well have been Cardinal Bernadine if he had lived. That was probably the best shot at an American Pope. He was pretty cool, wasn't he? I know back when he was alive that was the common belief that he should be the next in line. Then in death he further proved what an amazing person he was. I betting it won't be decided like they did in Eurotrip? Sorry about the little humor here and there. No disrespect meant.

Has there ever been any mention of who will be next? I have bets that Fox has a Reality show in the works for it. VOTE THE POPE! On Fox, Wednesday nights after "The Simple Life"!!!

Still nothing on cnn.com. But this is nows inevitable, isn't it? There is no coming back from where he is at. Last summer when I was with my great aunt and, just before she passed, I realized that there is that certain point you hit where nothing can bring you back, no medicine can ever be created to reverse what has started. It sounds though like he is comfortable and relaxed in his last moments.

Fine...78, minus one for the Marillion makes it 77. I was rounding up. You'll LOVE the Marillion! It's the one my wife DOESN'T like!

If you consider 80 albums a "crapload", then yeah, a crapload is awaiting you at the game.

Hey...I know a girl with half a finger! Maybe you know her...

Leaving work in a few to go to Milwaukee to see the game. Hook up with The Critic while there...finally. I have work to keep me occupied in the meantime. The kids are all fine and dandy and we had a great week with the eldest being on Spring Break and us getting to go to the zoo one day and seeing a sliverback puke in his hands and then eat it. The wife is also good...and smokes Brittany Murphy. Got some Wall Of Voodoo playing while I work.

Cool as heck band, that actually might be cooler if they would lay off on the noise just a bit. But it is the noise factor that endears them to many. The movie they did, Wild Zero is a crazy mix of zombies, aliens, guns, and RnR. Info on the death of Bass Wolf via Horror Channel.

Aren't we kind of going past the rules here??? Tell the Pope he can't go anywhere for awhile or he'll throw the workings of the universe off!!!
-
Yeah, I need to see more of his stuff for a complete idea on him, but his material...man...that is some gooooooodddddddd stuff!!!
-
Awwww, that guy was the best company owner/spokesman since Orville and Dave. RIP Frank.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) RIP Pope. Hope that catholic thing works out for you. He isn't dead yet. Even if the Catholic religion isn't "the one", I am pretty sure that whatever greater being there is will let that man in with open arms. Try using some class.

Did he read his material while on stage? The guy had brilliant stuff, absolutely brilliant, but his delivery was odd. He never looked at the audience and seemed to be reading. Granted, Bob Hope made a heck of a carrer out of doing that. I like him, but his delivery takes a bit to get used to.
