Can anybody provide a link to Super Religious Guy ranks? I'm a little lost on what is higher on the Catholic Totem Pole. I know that Pope is the highest (unless you count Saint and God, then I think we know the Power order there), but what is the rank down? How does one go from being a Priest to a...whatever? I am also amazed. I had no idea Popes went back as long ago as they do! I guess it makes sense, but ya know, to actually read the little bit of history on those Popes from WAY back in the year 126 or so...that is crazy. Is there a Pope site that tells you the history of Popes and lists them all? Maybe www.pope.com or something? Thanks! OH!!! And where the heck do Monks fit in, and what is their purpose...besides making GREAT beer?

Kind of interesting how two of his causes are so damned opposite. One is the right to life, which is a noble cause when handled right. The other, White Power, is such a buttheaded, asshole, moronic embarrassment to the friggin' world. How does anybody sane actually wake up every morning and say "hey, life is wonderful and the unborn need to be protected, but those people over there, kill 'em all." Seriously, if your two causes in life are so damned opposite, check yourself into your local law enforcement holding cell, cos your f***ed.

Yeah...kids...maybe they should run our friggin' world.

QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) All those abortions at the Olympics. He was really standing up for something. But the court hearing this morning was for the Abortion clinic.
-
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Everyone has differing opinions on abortion. But guys like this make you wonder if he is trying to support an unborn life, why is he trying to kill people. Because he is a sociopath using abortion as an excuse.

Why are US civilians still there? :headshake

Some things you just don't do and expect people to just pass it over. One is ANY kind of threat against a President, and the other is just saying "bomb" on a plane. I for one am glad that some forms of our "freedom" are questioned and are investigated. Oh yeah, and it is crap.

s***. I was supposed to get my In-Laws something? Man, I messed up soooo bad! LOL!!! I didn't ask permission, I didn't buy a gift, we had only been dating for 2 months when I proposed...it's a wonder they like me as much as they do! :headshake

Yeah, I got her a Love Missle. Hahahahaha. I think this is a newer thing happening. My buddy just got married and his wife bought him a guitar. I got ripped off. But I have never before been to one where they have bought gifts.

I know what the commercial is trying to say and all that bunk, but ya know, when they try and be sooooo dang harsh with the message, sometimes it turns to comedy. Look at those anti-pot commercials. They show kids getting shot by guns or run over, or giving themselves away due to smoking pot. I don't know of anybody who doesn't laugh their butts off at those commercials, and they show kids killing kids for crying outloud! This commercial lands in the same category in a way. Yeah, it is shocking, but there is a bit of a loss of intensity just for how much of a punch it throws. Maybe a commercial with stats and some pictures of the real injured kids, but to show this type of thing is a bit...ummm..."over the top".

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) Is it so much less awkward for men to go to dinner or a movie or whatever with a platonic female friend? Although, my favorite male "rule" is the leaving a seat between two men (that are friends and seeing the same movie) in the theatre. Never understood that... I never go with a "platonic female friend" as when you get married, many of those that I hung out with suddenly vanished. Just one of those things that happened, and I really can't say I miss any of them. As for the seat inbetween rule, that one always confused me. I always wondered if the person thought I was going to grab them during the movie, or if they had an uncontrollable urge to do so themselves and this was the only way to remedy it.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) You sound like you are very similar to me. We should "not get together" sometime. Yeah, cool! Name the place and I won't be there! LOL!

I could understand if they were dancing like white men, but for dancing like women??? Barbarians.

It's rare I will just go out with a friend. Well, one of my buddies and I will go to guitar shows (conventions), but we never go out to eat or the movies just the two of us. I will hook up with people after work at a bar, but I won't go out to dinner or the movies with them. But I am an odd criiter in those ways, I guess. If I am not with my wife and/or kids when I go out, I prefer to be alone. I love going to the movies by myself, going to dinner by myself, so on and so forth. I even go to concerts alone. It's just easier to not have to deal with what somebody else wants to do. I come and go as I please. But I did put down "once a month or less", as I am not opposed to ever go out with a buddy, it's just easier to always fly solo.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) I'm disappointed, SS2k5. I thought you'd be able to see that post for what it was. I think I might be right in my guessing. I seem to remember an avatar...

QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) I lost Genesis when they lost Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins lost his hair. Well, A Trick Of The Tail and Wind And Wuthering were very good, so for me they completely lost it with the departure of Hackett. I love Gabriel, and that is my favorite stuff by far, but the respectable stuff left for good with Hackett. The last one, sans Collins, Calling All Stations actually has a few inspired moments they haven't had in years, but is a rather boring effort in the end. On the Archives Vol. 1 boxset they include a live recording of Lamb, but on the original tapes the end song "The End" was lost. So the band reformed to newly record that one track. The track sounds IDENTICAL to how they soudned then, and for those of us hoping for a reunion someday, it gave hope to them being able to pull it off flawlessly.

O.K., then Eminem is another one.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) [My brother played the hell out of that album when we were teenagers cuz he knew it bugged me, and I played White Man In Hammersmith Palais by the Clash cuz I knew he hated that song......ahhhhh, youthful immaturity...... LOL! See, I woulda been VERY happy in your house, as I love both. Though Lamb gets the nod from me. The first Clash album is really the gem from them, with London Calling being one of the most overrated albums in music.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Yeah, when I was a teenager without an apartment and I really had nowhere else. Once I had an apartment, why?? Besides, I need room to work. Once you start saying "I'm too old" for this or that is when you have lost the thrill of life. I hope to be 80 and STILL looking for kicks in the ways I did when I was 18. Yeah, I might have a house and certain things are easier there, but I am not always at the house when certain things happen. I can't change the course of events all the time, and most times when that is the course, it's time to say "why, of course". Silly thread, sex is for beds.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) I've been boycotting Rage Against The Machine since I first heard them because their music gives me a headache. There are soooooo many reasons to boycott that damn band, IMO. I've been boycotting Corrigan for years, mainly due to his sucking and being an arrogant prick. But the Cub-fan angle is just one more solid reason to prove what an idiot that guy is. So, am I wrong for liking John Cusak? I used to like Joan, but she has been wearing on me as of late. Bill Murray gets a pass for being a Cubs fan though, right? I mean, anybody as cool and as funny as him gets the pass I would think. Being from the area where Groundhog Day was filmed, I know of many a person who hung with Bill and partook in...ummm...a little "cannonball" with the man. I should boycott Goose Island, but I have become a fan of certain brews of theirs. It's easier to boycott if you don't like something to begin with. Can somebody please tell me that Eminem is a Cubs fan???
-
Yeah, it's funny how liking a few Prog bands has always gotten me the label of a Prog fan. You're not the only one to call me "Mr. Prog Rock". It's funny, I guess that says alot about that style of music. If you like one band, such as Rush, it can be accepted, but if you like more than one, you instantly become a "Prog Fan". Yeah, so I was listening to Lamb Lies Down On Broadway this morning and wondering how anybody could dislike it, so what! But I was thinking about your comments and the thought that any idea can be achieved in under 3 minutes. Ya know, I am not so sure that Gabriel's lyrics would sound right with a Backyard Babies style backing! LOL!!! I take it you have no time at all for Classical? Jello is a bit hit or miss, isn't he? Especially after DK.
-
You know I disagree with that one. I think it all depends on the piece of music, and I really don't think some ideas can be conveyed in under 3 minutes. But hey, you like Metallica, and even on the "masterpiece" called Master Of Puppets they went on with long songs. Have you ever heard the Jello Biafra w DOA album Last Scream of the Missing Neighbors with the song "Full Metal Jackoff"? Not sure of the exact length, but it is about 10 minutes, maybe even 15. It is basically 2 riffs, mid tempo, but with so many lyrics from Jello that it HAD to be that long. Yes, two riffs, and the song never gets boring.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) I would say I'm a huge MEtallica fan, but I'm afraid Kid Gleason will jump all over me and tell me how 'JEthro Tull' is a better metal act. ....lots of newer rock/metal....Godsmack, Marliyn Manson, NIN... Nah, I'll just jump all over you for liking crappy music. Lordy, I hope your stuff about me was meant to be in green there. I'm not some Tull freak, I just thought after 17 years the Metallica fans would have let that Grammy loss go, but I guess not. I like SOME Tull, and only have two albums of theirs. So are they the better Metal band? No. But they are the better band.
-
Yeah. I have to thank The Critic for this one. I started the dang thread and then he hijacks it into being a Metallica discussion. He knows I hate Metallica, and that is what really hurts about this.
