I'm going up to the Friday game, but as I live only a little over an hour from there, I am coming home afterwards. If you DO stay there in Milwaukee, make sure you find your way to The Safe House for some food and drinks. PM me for the password to get in, but DO NOT tell somebody in your party, just so you can watch the staff make an idiot out of them on the closed circuit TV that runs through the bar! I love Milwaukee, and usually spend a weekend or two up there. Great friggin' city.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) I just finished an 8 hour shift on the day before Easter...I am deathly ill with the flu... Good to know your job deals with something that people don't have close contact with...like their food.

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) I fear for our education system, but just to clerify this flawed logic 3 mil + 2 mil is a total of 5 mil. Thus 3 mil of 5mil(3/5)= 60% and 2 mil of 5 mil(2/5) = 40% so even going with the flawed logic, coverage should be a 60/40 split. Cowley has cancer and must've had some relapse as he was there in Feb, the question I have is why haven't they given some intern a shot at doing the coverage? Maybe out of respect to Cowley? It is, as I said, only Spring Training. I would bet that if he still hasn't returned to the fold once the games actually matter, you might see a new writer step in. At that time people will want a local voice, but right now all most people really need are the facts. The "die-hards" are all here and on the official site and the other Sox sites, and the paper could very well understand this.
-
I find it funny how the SECOND post in this thread was a very good reason for there not being any coverage, the beat writer is out battling cancer. So the paper seemingly has chosen to keep his spot open for him and are using the AP stories. It is only Spring Training afterall. But then we are treated to 3 full pages of the same old tired debate. Here's to hoping the beat writer gets well and gets rid of that damned cancer!!!

I use Auto CAD every day of my life. Recently I have been trying to do some stuff with Photoshop. I'm deciding to stick with ACAD. I have never run into such a confusing program in my life!!!

This has become a friggin' Baggers Convention!!! When does the nekkid chick bust out of the giant paper bag? As for the topic, ABC or Sears will have to fix it, or it will become one of the ugliest PR nightmares they could run into. They should have done better checks to make sure the family would be O.K. in the aftermath.

Congrats there!!! That's one cute kid ya got!!! But I really don't see the similarity by how you look in your avatar and how the kid looks.

QUOTE(silver and black @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) I would get one, and once it gets big...I'll just get rid of it like my Alligator, Grizzly Bear, Bengal Tiger, and my King Cobra snake... Man, are you crazy!?! Haven't you ever seen the movie Alligator??? Those things will grow HUGE in the sewer system!!!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Better him than you. Trust me, I deal with enough from the lady. Luckily she is retiring VERY soon, and her replacement is my sister.

I'd still buy one.

No, true, but still people always take it out on the wrong people. How many times do you hear people yelling at the cashier over a price of groceries. A package was late to our office, our secretary almost killed the UPS driver, and he had nothing to do with the package being so late, but she took it out on him.

I'd guess this is why they weren't one of the families on the "reunion" show. It probably would have been bad if they showed up and Dad started to beat the crap out of Ty and the design team, and then turned on good ol' John Cougar.

This is all getting so damned ridiculous.

Heh, I would be cool with cloning dino's!!! Especially if you can get one for yourself!

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) I've been registered since September 2002 and have yet to hit 200 posts. I'm not sure where that puts me... With a real, honest to God life? I'm not saying anything, just observing...just observing. I don't think there is a spot for me on that list. Maybe "field trip patron from the local home for the mentally handicapped"???

815 across the board baby!!! Of course, I have a statue of a cow in my home town...so I guess I am a little "rural".

Censorship? Hardly. This board, and most boards are owned by individuals. You are posting here free of charge because somebody loves something enough to give people a place to discuss it, and other like interest. YOU are in somebody else's house. If you came into my house, my actual house, and started doing anything against my house rules, I would throw you out or shut you up. Not to be rude, but that is basically what it boils down to. The owner of this site wants it to be a certain way, if you break the rules of his house, he/she has trusted other people to watch and maintain the place. In this day and age of the internet people seem to like to use the word "censorship", and it gets used wrongly all the time. If you send a letter into a magazine, it gets edited. It isn't "censorship", it is editing. That is what an editor is for. No author ever sees their first draft make it to publishing, and few writers ever do. The board is kind of the same way, these mods are just trying to follow the rules, and follow them the best that they can. If you don't like the "censorship" you will encounter on a board, get some money together, and start your own board. I hit another site all the time. A group of people decided to break away and start a site free of "censorship". Within a month it was the most heavily moderated site I have ever seen, and within 5 months it was a ghost town. You might not like the editing, but it is what helps keeping people coming back.

I know Steve is boring as lint, but back in the day he and Garry were great. Matthews? Hated him at first, then fell in love with him, and now I have no time for him. I pretty much got REAL tired of his schtick also. Jim got real tiring. Stern? Never liked him. I will take any of those guys though over Mancow ANYtime. One of my buddies knows (knew) Mancow very well, and he confirmed every single suspicion I ever had of Mancow being a complete dick. But, I would LOVE to have a certain Johnny B. back on the airwaves around these parts. Johnny was the best, and his stuff still kills me. You can find some websites with clips on them, including the final broadcasts that lead up to the daparture.
-
Well, he'll find a ton more of the money if he went back with Dahl. I myself would start listening to Dahl again if Garry was back. Those guys were amazing together. I never listened to Conn though, so I am not too sure what that was like. But honestly, hasn't Garry always seemed a little loopy to all of us?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) My 5-year old boy has simultaneously entered his superhero phase and his penis phase, and it's made for some fine entertainment. He and his older sister were playing superheroes the other day and he just out of the blue blurts out "The power of the universe is in my penis!" Needless to say, my wife assumes this is all my fault somehow... O.K., I'm back to loving this site and it's intellectual input! LOL!!! One silly thread about "Sex" ruins it, and then one post about the "power of the universe in a penis" just hurls it back to the best board on the 'net! Your kid rules. Your wife should be proud, she helped get that universe into that thing!

My sister was driving down the road one day and somebody was moving too slow in front of her. Suddenly, from the backseat her 2 year old daughter yells out "GO b**** GO!!!". My wifes family are all BIG lovers of cards and gambling. My daughter, who is 7, is more adapt at blackjack, poker, 31, and dice games than she is at Candyland. The other night we were all playing, my daughter rolled the dice and got a bad score in which she had to pay a dime to my wife. My wife thanked her, and my daughter said "don't thank me, thank the dice". I'm starting to think we might be goofing up with our parenting skills. But then again, my wife has always played cards and such, and she actually turned out fine. VERY close family. But yeah, it's easy to goof up now and then, isn't it? Shows you have watched for years take on a whole new light when you are with a wee one. Ever watched Friends with your kids? Yeah, you'll be changing the channels REAL fast with that one!
