  1. Sandlin with 4K through an efficient 3 innings facing the minimum (had a groundball single erased by a CS) Sitting 97, getting whiffs on the breaking stuff, throwing strikes so far.
  2. King throws sinker/changeup/sweeper/4seam with an occasional slider. The fastballs are mid, but the other stuff is plus. He hasn’t given up much in two home starts vs. DET and SEA (2 runs total), but probably should have been punished more for 6 walks and 3 hit batters in 11 innings. He’s gotten lucky against lefties, allowing a .454 OPS to LHB that’s carried by an unsustainably low .163 BABIP. Not historically a reverse splits guy, so maybe the Sox can dish out some regression. SD will have their Plan A pen arms available, so scratching out a couple against King is likely their best chance.
  3. Approaching the 2024 White Sox -11.22 WPA bullpen First team in the division to 20 losses, though KC could join them later tonight
  4. Sandlin going for Charlotte
  5. Jon Greenberg for The Athletic Not wanting to distract Mune with more contract talks right away and/or pressure him with a new bigger number to perform up to so soon seems like Getz' go to response for now. Second or third time he's said some variant of "we're just letting him settle in."
  6. Pretty good company
  7. This stat from the broadcast was wild
  8. Interesting little watch on Kenzo's role getting scouting reports and such to Mune
  9. Win 15 on 5/1, nice! Came on 5/20 last year. Date to beat for #16 is 5/23 and we're getting to the point where it's almost silly to keep tracking this. Their longest win streak (4) is now longer than their longest loss streak (3). W4 is the longest active win streak in the AL, T-2 in MLB. 7-3 in last 10 is best in the division, T-2 in MLB. Sox are 0.5 GB of DET for 2nd, 1 back of the division/WC (though CLE look likely to win tonight). Still only May, but boy is it nice to be closer to a playoff spot than MIN/KC in 4th/5th instead of way out of the race by now. Schultz' 4th ever start in the bigs, and he goes 6 shutty against a top 5 team. Special guy, love his composure to bounce back from a shaky first. M&M duo continues striking fear into the hearts of opposing pitchers. This is not gambling advice, but waiting for one to homer and then live betting on the other might be a viable strategy... I initially thought I'd be happy with stealing 1 in Petco, but starting the series like this has me feeling a little greedy...
  10. Yeah, "can't take them with you" is clearly a team thing as Romo just did the same.
  11. Just an AB, Colson was chilling in the dugout
  12. Dang, would have been cool for him to hit 2 in a game on the same night as Okamoto
  13. Bido is one of several guys who have been cycled through that spot on the roster, which is not something they could have done with Paez.
  14. Bring this one home and get some extra looks at the Padres pen arms for the rest of the series
  15. Give me 10 years of this
  16. Great recovery from Schultz after the first
  17. Career #30 for Colson!
  18. He beats the tag and stays in contact with the bag the whole way Bad call cost them a run
