One thing that endeared me to EQ early is that he really does know the zone, hates when the ump doesn't (on either side of the ball), and isn't shy about showing it.
Shortly after the trade his pitcher was getting squeezed in Birmingham.
Perfect pitch, perfectly caught and presented, called a ball.
He was still relatively new to the team so no reason to be too personally invested quite yet...except that it was his staff now and that was a strike.
So he tilted his head a bit, and took a moment to sweep some dirt off the plate as if to say "Maybe you just didn't see it, blue, let me help you out."
Wildly endearing.
