  1. FWIW, when Sosa was playing winter ball last offseason, he wasn't at 2B at all. He played mostly short and a few games at third. If they think extra reps could help, then maybe he could head back there and play more second (or first?). But I'm not sure how exactly these teams balance the interests of their MLB players' orgs vs. existing league vets at the position. The winter leagues skew older and I get the impression that longevity carries a lot of weight, but maybe being elite offensively (he had like a 1.200 OPS) will give him more sway? Speaking of longevity, it's easy to forget that Sosa is the longest tenured Sox:
  2. Sosa now owns the season record for longest HR at Comerica this year at 451 feet
  3. Cubs closer Palencia came in with a 3-1 lead and went HR > single > walk > HR > triple to blow the save before leaving with injury. Lots of playoff teams with some struggles lately.
  4. Won the series vs. the division leaders despite some sloppy moments. Came out of an ALC road trip 6-1. And 10-7 record in a stretch of 17 straight with no off days, which is impressive both because and in spite of them leaving a couple on the table. WILLing and venABLE
  5. Taylor and Leasure both had to strike a guy out twice to get the third out, impressive from both to buckle down and get it done
  6. Most of them are at/near career highs in innings. Dart hasn't pitched this much since A ball.
  7. Chase quietly batting over .300 since the ASB
  8. Big #20 for Sosa, working to keep his team lead (and maybe nab the franchise 2B record?)
  9. 1.020 OPS in his last 15, and a silly 1.262 in his last 7.
  10. 15 whiffs for Shane last night after 14 each in his previous two starts. Good to see.
  11. I think Detroit is overperforming a bit but still comfortably the top of the division. I'd say we could battle the Royals for second though. If Cleveland doesn't get Clase back and the Twins sell Lopez and/or Ryan, they are both leapfroggable. Sox, Twins, and Guards have the exact same expected wins of 63 right now, we're just weighed down by a ton of brutal 1 run losses. Some modest improvement and starting the season with more guys whose best days are ahead of them rather than behind should get you closer. How many first half close losses would have been more winnable with Colson at the plate in place of Rojas/Capra/Amaya/etc.?
  12. Cubs passed on him for Jordan Wicks btw
  13. Stellar AA debut for AMak so far, 3-3 with a triple
  14. I got my take on Colson's call up on the record and I think it aged well, so I'll go ahead and also put on the record that I'd try my luck at an extension before this time next year.
