  1. Riley Gowens (Bummer trade) looks great today, 8K through 4IP.
  2. Game 2 rained out for the Barons. They'll try for two again tomorrow. Kanny was on the verge of a 3-2 win, but Billy Seidl had a leadoff single score on a steal > WP > groundout. Because he's still an absolute madman, he stranded the free runner in the 10th and then struck out the side in the 11th to keep it 3-3. Unfortunately, Kanny can't score their free runner either and the game is suspended for weather going into the 12th. The Knights also went to extras, where they gave up 5 to lose 11-6. They could have used a Seidl. Dash scored 6 unanswered runs late to win 6-4. Schultz gave up 2 on a pair of walks, a wild pitch, and a double in the first. He retired the next 10 in a row, but only goes 4IP. Gonzo finished 1-4 after hustling out an IF single vs. a LHP. He also had his 6th walk in 5 games, and hit one to the track in RF after a solid 9 pitch battle. Kath hit a 2 run HR, his 3rd of the season, and also a lucky 2RBI chopper through the IF to knock in 4 RBI total. Adler (0 ERA) got his 3rd save. Zavala had the day off.
  3. Iriarte was very good. Started off leaning on the slider, then they started looking for it after he hung a couple so he got them to whiff on the fastball instead. Defense was really solid, there were a couple of hard hit balls early that he got helped out on. 5IP is his longest outing of the season. McCullough got the W for his two innings of scoreless relief. Ramos is having some better at bats approach wise, but still visibly frustrated with his slump. Glove still looks good though, so at least he's not letting it carry over.
  4. Barons rained out, they'll play two tomorrow. The other three affiliates win their games, giving up just 1 run a piece. Lots of promising pitching on the farm. The Knights are so much more watchable than last year (when not up against the Tides). Mendick might be making a case for Chicago. Brebbia has a scoreless 2K inning in his rehab appearance, Berroa has 5 straight scoreless outings after a rocky start.
  5. Pham also getting reps in these AZ games for now.
  6. Fantastic efficiency for Thorpe through 7 scoreless tonight, only 3K but lots of weak contact early in counts.
  7. Great turn here from Colson
  8. Duke Ellis walked, stole 2nd on the first pitch to the next batter, reached third when the throw got away, and scored on a sac fly on the next pitch. First to home in 2 pitches, still perfect (11/11) on SB attempts.
  9. And Ramos hasn't even gotten going yet!
  10. After 10 games, the Barons lead the Southern League in runs, HR (tied), and OBP. They are second in AVG, OPS, and SLG. Their team ERA (2.59) is top 3, and they have the second best run differential.
  11. Unless the Braves' special org magic only works on former White Sox RHP specifically, I would expect Reylo to regress toward the mean just as I would expect Fried (8.74 ERA), Sale, and Morton to not look as rough as they have so far this season. I mean, maybe they do have something special with Chavez since all of his best stints over a 15 year career are with Atlanta...but I have absolutely no complaints about him not being on this roster lol.
  12. Reylo with a third solid start vs. the Astros. The anemic Sox offense is the only one to score against him (1ER) in 18IP/3GS. Aaron Bummer got called in to finish up a 6-0 Braves lead in the 9th and gave up 2ER before getting the hook at 25 pitches after a two out walk. He actually was luckier than usual with some hard hit balls finding gloves:
  13. There's been few defensive highlights from Burke, Ramos, and Zavala tonight. Colson also had a couple nice plays at short earlier.
  14. First inning HRs for Mendick and Colas.
  15. 3 is wild, but I don't think top 10 is crazy. Looks like they could have Colson, Schultz, Thorpe, Quero, and Iriarte in their top 100.
  16. Hopefully he's alright, the pitcher injury situation is bad enough as is.
  17. Iriarte strikes out the side in the 3rd. 5Ks, no hits.
  18. Maybe Schultz was just playing with this food? Strikes out the side on 10 pitches in the 4th, 6 Ks in a row now.
  19. Another one for Colson too, 110 off the bat ?
