  1. Great August for Shane. 6 starts, 33.2IP, 10 ER (2.67 ERA), 31K, <1.00 WHIP. His last two outings are the two longest of his career.
  2. I agree, line looks worse than the performance. He gave up 3 singles, one was hard hit. Hackenberg didn't need to throw to second on a delayed steal with two strikes on the batter and a runner at third, but he did and it cost a run. Schultz ended the inning on the next pitch.
  3. Smith was dealing with no hits/walks (1 HBP) and 6K through 3. Got strikeout #7 to leadoff the 4th inning, then back to back comebacker grounders. He dodged the first which ended up a single up the middle, and took the second off his leg resulting in an IF single. Got checked out and stayed in the game. Picked off the runner at first, allowed a walk, then got a popout to end the inning. Easy 1-2-3 5th, done at 66 pitches.
  4. Schweitzer up to 39.2IP scoreless in AA.
  5. Eloy is signing a minors deal with Toronto after being released from the Rays system in July.
  6. I didn't say the Sox should get more credit for fixing him, I said if the team splits were reversed then the difference would be chalked up to coaching because that's what generally happens when a player who struggles here goes on to play better somewhere else. But I'm not interested in further discussion either way. Feel as "right" as you want about Tyler Alexander, just stop trying to "call me out" every time he gives up a run.
  7. 1. That's not my username. 2. Have I been some big Tyler Alexander cheerleader? I complimented him for covering 3 innings in a game thread last weekend because they're playing 17 straight with a taxed pen and needed innings....Are you going to chase up everyone who's ever said "nice game from Player X"? 3. Seriously, I don't really know what this schtick even is supposed to be but you've done it a couple times now and it's strange so I'd like to nip it in the bud here.
  8. DePino with his first 💣
  9. Sounds like Hoskins is expected back soon.
  10. Gowens is done with 6IP, 1ER (solo shot), 4H, 1BB, 7K. WS won 3-0. 5.1 IP with 6K from Ziehl. Batista threw 2 scoreless in relief. Kanny won 5-1 behind 5IP, 1ER, 5K from Umberger who has a 9-2 record now.
  11. Tough one. Should have given Wilson a clean 9th maybe, probably an adrenaline crash for Taylor after the K on Witt to end the 8th and then sitting. Also hard to add on against a decent pen with MAT suddenly inserted in the middle of the lineup.
  12. Can we borrow a couple runs from yesterday?
  13. Maybe it's out with a torpedo bat
  14. If one Montgomery is the kid who only hits homers and the other is the kid who only hits doubles, I think we can work with that
  15. Sosa's single was the first hit surrendered by Schreiber since August 5, 20+ batters ago.
  16. Baiting a walk by distracting them with a bunt attempt?
  17. For anyone wondering...Perez has said he would like to stay. Sounds like Katz would like him to stay too: "I think any team would like to have Martín. There's so many great qualities to him, just as a person and the ability of what he's able to do on the mound. So I would love to be able to say I could spend more time around him. Not my decision, but he's been awesome to have here. I think the younger players have really appreciated him. Not only that, but he's really great with our Latin players too. A lot of the young guys, he really kind of takes them under his wing, being able to talk to them, communicate with them a little bit more, it's great to see. So he takes a lot of pride in that." It's a mutual option for $10 million, or I guess they could negotiate something else.
  18. Teams in the Bridge League: White Sox, Reds, Guardians, Dodgers, Rangers, Brewers, Mariners, Padres, Royals
  19. Bonemer adds a "triple" on a ball the CF lost in the sky. He did get charged with an error in the previous half inning on a throw to first that pulled AMak off the bag.
  20. 43 career games total, but 29 games since his first so it's about every other game on average since he broke the seal.
