  1. In fairness, they probably should have scored one when this happened top 8. Moose and Montgomery walks, a Burdick K, and a double steal put runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. A soft Burke grounder was flipped back to the plate for an out on Remillard pinch running for Moose. He was called out, but the radio crew conceded that the throw/tag seemed late and the Sox would likely have challenged (and won) if this was a real game.
  2. Jacob Burke made an impressive catch to rob a hit for the first out. Pop out to 1B for the second out. Joey Bart hit a single to right, but Leasure got a K looking on a nice slider to end the inning. Sounds like he was sitting around 96-97, and maybe playing with the pitch mix a bit.
  3. Sox pull ahead thanks to the young guys (and Moose). Shewmake triple, Fletcher groundout, Moose bloop RBI single, tie game 2-2. Montgomery single, Burdick K, Jacob Burke RBI single, Sox lead 3-2. Ramos worked a walk to load the bases, but a Phillips groundout ends the inning. Leasure in to pitch.
  4. The good news: Speas got three consecutive flyouts. The bad news: He walked the bases loaded first, so the first two scored runs. Flexen finished with 3IP, 0ER, 3H, 2BB, 2K.
  5. Nicky Lopez hits another double. He leads the Cactus League with 6. Hustles to third after a passed ball, no outs.
  6. Some notes on Crochet from Brozdowski: This was posted before his latest outing, where he was mixing in the cutter more.
  7. Crochet done after 2.1IP, 0ER, 3H, 4K. Got into a few deeper counts, which I imagine is the cause of the early exit. Berroa in now.
  8. Moncada 3-3 after a bunt single.
  9. Soroka finished with 3IP, 1ER, 1BB, 2H, 5K. Crochet is in now. Groundout, Machado single, two swinging strikeouts. Still hitting 98-99.
  10. Soroka looks good. 5K through 3IP, the only solid contact was the Machado double (which is maybe caught if not for the AZ sun?)
  11. Sox webcast, if you'd rather hear familiar voices: https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/video/cws-sd-spring-training-webcast-92229
  12. Lance Lynn made his spring debut today. He got pulled after 24 pitches in the 1st, topping out at 93. Came back for the 2nd and pitched a clean inning (nearly gave up a 2 run HR, but it was caught at the top of the wall). Got ejected by Angel Hernandez after one out in the 3rd for chirping about the zone. Final Line: 2IP, 3H, 4ER, 3BB, 2K, and one ejection. Maybe two ejections, because he went to the bullpen to finish his pitch count, and he's apparently being kicked out of there too.
  13. Sox get on the board with a Fletcher double, DeLoach bloop single, and Shewmake sac fly.
  14. Horn went 2 innings. 0ER, 1H, 2BB, 3K, and a GIDP.
  15. Fedde seems to be maintaining his high ground ball/weak contact rates from KBO. Second inning: Naylor popout, HBP > steal > seeing eye RBI single. A second GIDP ends the inning. Third inning: Walk, pickoff (commentators compliment the move), two groundouts. He's done after a pretty efficient 3IP with 1ER, 2H, 1BB, 0K.
  16. Benny and Nicky worked walks to leadoff the first, but were stranded by a LRJ K and Sheets GIDP. Fedde gave up a leadoff hit to Kwan, immediately erased by a GIDP. Jammed Ramirez for another groundout. Very quick inning, like 6 pitches or so.
  17. Also, the Spring Breakout Roster ICYMI: Veras and Schultz the most notable absences to me.
  18. Keeping the starting OF off the wet grass I guess. New start time estimate 2:35PM CST.
  19. Sorry, I should have noted that the showcase post was months old. I was sharing for the video/context.
