  1. Quero gets HR #9, 101mph pulled to RF.
  2. AHT gets his first Barons save to secure a 6-3 win. A pair of walks (one by Bush, one by Stivors) were the only baserunners allowed by the Barons after the first inning. Bush retired his last 13 in order.
  3. Bush gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in the first inning, then didn't allow a hit for the next 6. He finishes with 7IP, 3ER, 4H, 1BB, 8K.
  4. Wolkow making his Kanny debut tonight. The Barons are set to face off against old friend Matthew Thompson.
  5. A series of swaps led to Ramos playing 2B late in the game. He made a pretty nice play for a 4-3 GIDP in the 9th: He also knocked in an insurance run in the previous half inning on a very well hit sac fly. He finished 2-4 with a double and RBI. Colson 1-4 with a BB and 2 RBI. LRJ 1-5 with 2 RBI. Cannon had a rough 4-run 2nd inning that wasn't helped by an error, a WP, and a double steal including a steal of home. He goes 4.2IP, 4 ER (5R), 5 H, 3 BB, 5 K. Chase Plymell (2.1IP, W), Berroa (1IP, H), and Ellard (1IP, S) kept it scoreless for the rest of the game, Knights win 7-5.
  6. 8th shutout of the year for the Barons. Cousin looks nice in relief.
  7. Hoopii-Tuionetoa pitches 1.2IP in relief. 1K, 1BB, no hits/runs. 1 ER all season on a solo shot, sub-1 WHIP and ERA. I don't understand how or why we got him for Grossman...but I'm not complaining.
  8. Yeah, upon a closer listen to the full clip that's much more apparent.
  9. Jorge Lopez has had himself a day. First, this temper tantrum: He then was misquoted as saying that he's playing for "the worst team in the whole f-ing MLB": And now, apparently, is set to be DFA'd as a result:
  10. Fun fact from CB on the Barons broadcast: After throwing just 1 shutout all last season, the Barons have already thrown 7 this year. They had a league leading and franchise record setting ERA last year, but currently the lowest team ERA of any MiLB affiliate.
  11. Cousin strikes out the side in relief, his stuff looks great out of the pen.
  12. My guy Mason Adams goes 6IP, 0ER, 3H, 2BB, 7K. Barons up 4-0 heading into the 7th.
  13. McDaniel left Kanny on a high note, he's making his A+ debut tonight. But the team overall has been much more fun to watch since getting some offensive reinforcements, they are 10-2 in their last 12 and have a +94 run diff.
  14. Iriarte finishes the game with 5IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, 5K. Barons win 7-1. Gonzo 2-5 with a double and 2RBI. Elko 1-4 with a HR and 3K. Veras 3-5 with a double. Ellis stole a pair of bases after a single. His 30 SBs are second in the minors.
  15. Schultz' first AA inning: strikeout, 2-3 groundout right in front of the plate, strikeout
  16. Kanny was up 11-0 after 3 innings in game one, so they're facing position players for the rest of the game. They added 4 more in the 4th, so maybe they can beat their 22 run franchise record even though it's only a 7 inning game. At the very least, they'll add to their already league leading run differential.
  17. 3Ks looking for LRJ makes me suspect they're just having him track pitches or something. Also, Iriarte should be piggybacking Schultz for Bham tonight. Wouldn't want to be an opposing batter (but that's true basically every game with the Barons).
  18. Despite not making the most of their chances, Barons chased Misiorowski (Brewers #1/MLB #23) early after 4.1IP, 2ER, 8H, 3BB, 3K. It's the most hits he's allowed this season. Thorpe went 6IP, 1ER, 3H, 1BB, 4K. The run was a solo shot. His ERA stays at 1.50, his record improves to 7-1. Gonzo goes 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI. Baldwin 2-4 with a BB. Quero 0-3 but 2 BB including one with the bases loaded to force in a run. Turner has been off to a slow start, but he was 3-5 with a 2B today. This was Gonzo's first professional start at 2B. He looked comfortable, made all the routine plays and started off a pair of 4-6-3's. Barons win 7-2.
  19. FYI for those who don't subscribe, today's Birmingham game is free to watch: https://www.mlb.com/tv/shows/mlbtv-featured-svod-video-list/milb-on-mlb-tv-misiorowski-faces-off-with-thorpe-106448
  20. Hoopii-Tuionetoa (Grossman trade) pitched a scoreless 2K inning in relief of Bush, but Caleb Freeman blew a 4-1 lead in the 9th by giving up 4 straight hits including a double and a triple. He followed it up with 3 straight strikeouts to strand the winning run at 3rd and keep it 4-4 to force extras. Elko knocked in the free runner with a single, and Jordan Mikel (excellent name for a Baron) got the save for a 5-4 win. Gonzo was 1-4 with a walk. Baldwin 2-5 with a double and HR. Elko maybe starting to heat up, 2-4 with a walk. The Barons have the best record in AA.
  21. Ky Bush: 7IP, 2H, 1ER, 2BB, 3K. Only 80 pitches, lots of soft contact outs.
