  1. There was some discussion about Michael A Taylor's wasted money so I figured I'd post this here. https://www.mlb.com/news/jose-siri-designated-for-assignment-by-mets-tyrone-taylor-activated-from-il Mets DFA'd Jose Siri who was supposed to be their answer in CF. He barely played for the Mets but when he did, he racked up -0.5 WAR and batted .063 (.262 OPS). He's paid $700k more than MAT and the worst part is they gave up an asset for him, Eric Orze, who's pitched 41.2 innings for the Rays to a 3.02 ERA. Imagine if the Mets had Orze and Vasil out of the bullpen this season, 2 players they jettisoned for nothing. They genuinely would've been better off signing Taylor. I also might take a flyer on Siri. He has had some success and historically plays some good CF defense at the very least. Though he is a kind of a douche, got benched twice in TBR, show boats, and worst of all said the little girl who accused Wander 'pedo' Franco of child abuse was "only looking for money". Maybe f*** the guy actually.
  2. Right, I just mean in terms of what could these sort of guys realistically be traded for. I'm not sure there's much precedent for a trade in this scenario but I could be wrong. If I recall correctly, the Padres declined Martinez's (reasonable) options and Cincinnati was able to sign him for 2/26 (Martinez declined the second year and took the $21mil QO instead). I do think if the Reds traded him midseason 2024 or 2025, he might have netted more than Fedde...longer track record of being back, having success. But he's paid $21mil this year compared to Fedde's $8mil or so.
  3. I think Davis Martin has more trade value for sure. I think the Sox should look to trade him, package him with some prospects or something for a real outfielder.
  4. and William Bergolla and Jeral Perez. Bergolla seems like a Meidroth clone and Perez has some power. Although Perez might just be Elko because of the Ks. except he walks at a much more respectable rate and kinda sorta plays up the middle defense. Vargas is probably just as good as Tommy Edman (pretty much exact same 2025 WAR) except Vargas is 5 years younger and makes a whole lot less money. One thinks in that deal, Kopech was actually the more prized commodity. Houser also returned Ben Peoples and Ducan Davitt who are probably not MLB players but Peoples might be legit. re: Fedde and Houser, they both had long track records as not so good pitchers and MLB teams don't necessarily have short memories. I'm not sure if there's precedent for a pitcher being picked up off the waiver wire/as a cheap retread from Korea and then being traded for a presently very good player. It's sort of amazing those guys returned anything. Although Mead is just disappointing. Maybe if he actually had some power or walked even a little bit. 0 homers, 3 BB to 27 Ks as a Sock is not what you want to see but probably might have expected.
  5. Will Mt Carmel bully be the hero? My guess is no.
  6. not optimistic the DBacks have anything left in the tank
  7. They sure are LOL. The only wise prediction they made.
  8. yeah, having Perdomo sac bunt is silly. McCann never should've been up in that spot but they've already used their whole bench
  9. call to the bullpen is...Blake Treinen. Does he get tagged with the L when he inevitably gives up a hit? 🤯
  10. should've taken one for the team there, jake. he's even worse than dom fletcher
  11. Guy with 11.2 innings his whole career gets Ohtani and Freeman to strike out as their playoff hopes hang in the balance. A lot of poise.
  12. last couple weeks has been great baseball. what a play at the plate!!!
  13. another blown call. should be on first base
  14. there have been real egregious misses. god i hope it's Treinen. Banda is available I think, probly their best option. Kershaw in relief for the first time since 2019. interesting.
  15. this ump has just been really bad both ways. one of the worst called games i've seen. K becomes a SF.
  16. Kopech might be back. Yates won't be missed. Vesia pulled lol.
  17. I think Judge has been better, but the catcher hitting 60 home runs is pretty special. It's like Acuña's 40/70 season even though Betts was better.
  18. Pages has pretty much singlehandedly won this game. Sasaki's stuff looked good but he got bailed out a bit. First by Muncy, then by the umpire, but a really nasty third strike to Vargas. Dodgers should have all of their useful players back by the postseason aside from Graterol.
  19. good call. I like the dude but hopefully he gets rocked. umpire misses another huge call...backwards k and the pitch wasn't even close. refball at its finest...the next pitch is a strike called a ball. this moron is just all over the place.
  20. 'record in 1 run games' is an interesting stat. Sox are 14-35, Rockies are 18-22 this season. Last year the Sox were 13-39.
  21. cleveland is my least favorite team in the league (besides the cubs) but i can't help but laugh about detroit's total collapse. they were up 9.5 games 2 weeks ago, now they're down a game. "100% playoff odds" reminds me of the 2016 election "polling wizards". oops
