  1. just swing away, all his hits are swinging bunts anyway
  2. Thought his last start of the season last year was good. 10 Ks, 1 BB, 1 ER on 80 pitches, only 4.1 IP. But his first start of the season last year was probably his best. 1 walk in 10 IP so far this season is definitely nice to see. If he can keep the FB at ~96, he's really dangerous.
  3. He can't do anything. Just DFA and eat the contract

Home opener, 4 MILB games -- the season has truly begun!
  5. Solid defensive inning. Any one of those could've been a hit. xBA on those: .690, .510, .910.
  6. Command lost. Cease could just as easily walk the bases loaded. Rough swing, Mune.
  7. Burke has some nasty stuff. But I feel like his FB velocity can be all over the place. Pumping it at 96, 97 today but it could just as easily be 93, 94.
  8. Acuña's speed is really refreshing. A tapper becomes a double....a triple!!! oh wait he K'd
  9. nice looking crowd dylan cease has been copying my haircuts since he came into the league.
  10. Which leads me to think an 'opener' is generally a bad idea because you'd think you'd want to use the better pitcher in a higher leverage situation than the top of the 1st inning.
  11. That's the idea of an opener, right? So that you can face the hitters with the same-handedness and get a matchup advantage. There's no matchup advantage if both pitchers are the same handedness. The point was made that the 'opener' is generally a lefty.
  12. Not sure I understand the point of a RHP opening for a different RHP. Unless Kay is the one starting.
  13. .750 OBP game. I'm alarmed, why doesn't he hit a dinger every at bat
  14. Thought his changeup looked nasty

Carlson, Fauske, Alcala to me. Big potential imo. McClain, Mogollon, the new guy Boston, LaCombe on a lower scale. Not much interesting in the way of pitching unless some guys come out of no where.

Where is Lacombe starting the season? I might've thought Kanny but I don't see him on the roster.
  17. It's an interesting comp. J-Ram's power seemingly came out of no where. Sammy "Sosa" Antonacci might be a similar case, he showed a bit of it this spring.
  18. Maybe not, still rather have the extra year because why not?

Lotta exciting players to watch on this team.
  20. He batted .105, I wouldn’t exactly call that murder. Not mad at all if they call him up, I’d wait til we can retain a year of control though.
  21. I don’t see the rush tbh.
  22. Think I'd rather have Acuña over Vientos too. Would've rather gotten a deal done with Philly or Cinci though. Or just kept LuBob til his value recovered, he's certainly off to a nice start.
  23. It ostensibly just means "rising" or "daybreak" or more relevantly "east" in Latin, but the term isn't in use anymore and it bothers people. "Oriental studies" isn't a department at universities anymore. Chicago's "Oriental Theatre" is now called the "Nederlander Theatre". You're probably not saying "colored people" or "negro" anymore, right? They're not specifically racial slurs, but you'd look like an asshole if you said it. Times change. And it's not specifically a new idea either, Edward Said wrote that book in 1978.
