Watched an interview with Rick Ankiel a couple days ago. He seemed interested in talking about his anxiety and even how he tried taking shots before a game to try to settle himself. Didn't work (it never does). Hope for Oppor's sake it's a mechanic thing and not a psychological one. The former seems easier to correct and probably less impactful on his day-to-day life outside of sports. Also, reminded me Roger Angell's essay on Steve Blass. Same could be said for Grant who's about 30 years younger; and he'd perform better. It was a curious choice with the top of the order up and no game tomorrow.

Jazz will be the youngest notable FA position player in that class. Which is saying something. Thought he was pretty solid in center and I like the defensive versatility. But yeah, not an ideal candidate. Wouldn't want to give multiple years. Morejon, Mize, Bubic, Rogers seem like guys to target. Dunno whatever happened to Bruce Graterol but he's apparently an upcoming UFA too.
