9/9/2025 - Rays @ Sox - Houser contre Gomez, 6:40 pm

Also, Clev got ROCKED in AAA today. He's not joining the team. I still think the only reason he's there is the minority owner who may or may not have shares anymore, but probably did when he was signed -

yeah I wouldn't really want to rely on Yoe Yoe as a starter next season. He's been serviceable but is a AAAA kinda guy. -
Made (#5 Pipeline prospect) is making his AA debut against Birmingham tonight. 18-years-old. Wonder how he'll do.

Fauske is listed at 6'3, Carlson at 6'1...that doesn't look right. -

I'll be sure to try this the next time I order one. I expect to be slapped. -
It's a good point. I was just glancing through baseball reference and there are some guys who you might consider to be solid (it's a stretch) but they're almost all entirely pitchers. Pretty much everyone in the staff this season is a late round pick. Maybe Romy Gonzalez is turning a corner. Brooks might be a solid player. I think the difference is, and it's yet to be proven, there are some pretty nice position players in the system currently that were picked after the first round. Bonemer is the key one, he has star potential IMO. I really like Fauske, Hodge, Lodise and Ely Brown out of this year's draft. Ely Brown is my new favorite minor leaguer. Very early to say. Antonacci looks very solid. DePino and Wolkow have some potential. Those are just the position players. Obviously we'll see what happens.

Colson has beat out a couple would-be DPs. Didn't think he had it in him. -

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS
nrockway replied to soxfan18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah after looking at the map, it doesn’t bear east until it’s above 15th street. Is that where the station is being discussed? So no detour necessarily or likely digging. I’d have to look into this more. -
Popeye is back from his gambling suspension and has actually looked pretty good. Batted .302 at AA. I think he makes MLB anyway. The suspension soured him in my eyes, but I still kinda like the guy. Similar vibe to Noelvi Marte (without the talent) who I'm happy to see is performing well. Man, imagine a Cease trade that brought back him or Edwin Arroyo or both.

have you watched the Twins recently? these horrible records, NBA-esque win disparities, are becoming more common in MLB. this is the new normal.

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS
nrockway replied to soxfan18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have to assume, if the 78 is actually developed, there would be some pathways built that would make the connection easier than what it shows on Google Maps. But it's a very steep grade down from Roosevelt. I've started walking past the 78 site more often to go to Roosevelt Green/Red from UIC rather than take the Halsted bus, mostly because this thread has inspired me to do so. But the public investment that is being asked to do that would be a total waste of money if you ask me. It would be technically challenging. A new stop has little use except for a new arena...but this infrastructure already exists one stop down!! It's redundant! I think the 78 such a perfect place to put a park without spending a ton of money the city/state doesn't have for little to no economic benefit (I might assume considering the cost when you could invest....0 dollars in redundant transit infrastructure). The Ping Tom park is reasonably new and it's an awesome park. This would be a great extension of it and be part of an infrastructure to extend the riverwalk from the Loop to Chinatown. Maybe it could be the centerpiece of it. the morons who own the land would never go for that though, they'd rather it be a vacant wasteland. -

I think it's bold to assume people will actually walk 20 minutes. Sox-35th is a 2 minute walk and the Red Line can be connected to in multiple locations. Metra Rock Island stops in essentially the same place. Easy bus access. The freeway access is obviously easy, easier than the 78 site and it's frankly additional traffic I don't want to deal with around UIC. The 78 is basically a dead transit zone. It's a half mile walk from Roosevelt and you have to take some steps down (that don't exist yet as far as I can tell). Building a new station there would be such a waste of money. It's so close to Roosevelt and what would be the point of the investment to make that detour? It would just piss everybody else off who lives on the South Side, except the wealthy people who live in the South Loop. Really do not need an additional stop at 16th/Clark (or whatever) between Chinatown and Roosevelt is the point no one (not Sox fans) are discussing with this proposal. -

130 studies written when? Tellin ya, this is not the common thinking nowadays. They're probably referencing a few specific people who write about this who 'changed their mind' according to new evidence. edit...well I better read what you posted. 1970 is a weird timeline to do it from. this is the guy to pay attention to. it depends how it's done. So basically the Sox situation. Added benefit of much of the stadium land being publicly-owned. There's pretty good the Gulf states are doing all this 'sports-related development' stuff. I don't think the author of the Trib article you're quoting even bothered to glance at the paper he cites. -
9/7/2025 - Sox @ Tigers - 12:40 - Martin v. Morton
nrockway replied to WestEddy's topic in 2025 Season in Review
He's looked really good -- watch the games. I wouldn't let him start. Different situation than Crochet. More akin to Mason Miller. A proper closer is probably more useful than a 4th or 5th starter anyway. -
Both pitchers look fine. I still dislike the Hagen Smith pick when we could've had Wetherholt (or Braden), it has "previous regime pick" written all over it unlike this recent draft, but the guy is gonna be fine. People are talking about his 'degraded stuff' but he's K'ing 13+ guys per 9 since returning from injury. Going as deep into games as any AA guy would. Noah has always been an injury risk and continues to be...but evidence of his 'stuff degradation' is very overstated by people who aren't paying attention. edit: by the way, there are often useful players who do not show up on the "top 100" for whatever reason. I wouldn't pay super close attention to it TBH. The Sox have a lot of potentially good players not sniffing the top 100. A few of them will probably pan out. Oppor might be the best lefty starter out of the bunch.

He wasn't. Teel was. The Red Sox underrated Montgomery, he should've been the centerpeice and Teel should've been Bleis...if they were an effectively run organization. They are not. The Red Sox have many things going for them because they're the Red Sox...management is not one of them. Pitching development certainly isn't otherwise half of their roster wouldn't be former White Sox.

The two players being discussed are relief pitchers, one has a 4.98 ERA and -0.3 WAR and the other has a 5.60 ERA and -0.8 WAR. They're both 31-years-old. If you were the owner, would you want your GM to sign either of those players to large contracts? -
It's not like it is in basketball, but these Tigers are still going to add Max Clark and Jackson Jobe. I suspect Max will be a very good center fielder taken in the draft that we took Jacob Gonzalez. Tanking helped the Orioles for sure. It's sort of like...would you rather win 70 games, miss the playoffs and draft 13th or win 60 games and draft first? And obviously that carries over into the other rounds. You draft first or whatever in every other round. I don't think "you lose your first rounder and draft first every other round" makes much sense. A higher draft slot is obviously better.

Roosevelt is often where I get on/off and it's a weird place just as Jackson is just as Wilson is up north. There's probably a middle ground between "this place is a s%*# hole" and "there's nothing to see here, you must be a suburbanite". -

Also the red line definitely connects south to north. Most trains don't even go west besides the blue line which is ostensibly the safest and runs 24 hours. Most of the criminal activity impacts people who live around 63rd. Also the orange line. I've been on it, like, once. Pink doesn't count. -
Getting tired of the "give the ball to a child" meme

Is he highly visible? I've never heard of "the paving-stone company DROGBRUK A.P. Szczerek sp.j. based in Błaszki,". I found that on Wikipedia and I assume he has a Wikipedia article now because of this event. He's some millionaire in Poland. Some chart says there are 40,000 millionaires in Poland. I guess he's a rich guy and not a proletarian, but the principle is the same. People did some sleuthing to figure this out. I think both of these people did something contemptible, but so are a bunch of people in this world, and it's just a highlight, like, "wow that's fucked up, we shouldn't do that" but people definitely take the e-vendettas too far. I don't care to know this woman's name or anything about her. I'm just like "damn, chill out". I don't think it's misogynistic besides the "Karen" comments...including from the announcer. I know two Karens and they're both really nice people. But yeah I think we'd criticize these people regardless of their gender. -

Yeah I definitely agree with bolded. It's not actually that serious. We see this a lot. But it's childish behavior. Dad fighting for the ball is weird too. This is one of those things that's actually inexcusable IMO. It's pathetic. This guy is being doxxed too which is a little extreme. I hate the internet. -

His ERA seemed unsustainable. Rough August too. ERA raised almost a point tonight, yikes.
