They will definitely get a haul for him, but realistically, none of those players will ever come close to having the career (or season) of Cease. They will get at least three or four players, only one in top 100. More than likely the top player will be 3+ years away from the bigs.

Yep, what did JR say? Something about this won't be a rebuild and this team has enough to win, just needs to be tweaked or something like that??. That's JR tweaking the fans, wanting everyone to re-up their tickets plans. Getz was probably cringing listing to that, thinking what the hell did I get myself into. No established GM would ever consider working for JR, career suicide (after 20 years of course).

Exactly. Everyone here would be thrilled if one of the players traded for Cease comes here and finishes 3rd in Rookie of the Year... But they don't want the guy who actually did it. Him, Frasso, and a few lesser prospects would be a solid (non-sexy) return.

He'd be the centerpiece, cheap controllable everyday player. Him and Nick Frasso get it done.

I don't think Schultz will be to 30, probably to 50. I guess it depends on what top 100 list we are referring to. I'll stick to mlb.com list since it's free and accurate enough. If Sox trade him for the 50th and 95th prospects, I'd be disappointed. Rather have a top 15-20, and a young guy already playing.

Flip the script, (assuming Sox were competitive) would you trade Carson Montgomery and Noah Schultz for 2 years of Cease? Now maybe if a team has 4 top 100s, they might, but I think it'll be a top 15 and a young guy already in mlb (plus prospects).

I mean a high ceiling each year (can be more than good..great), he's not your average run of the mill relief arm. Five guys who were about to be dfa'd is a crappy haul, one for one trade would move the needle for me. Reminds me of when I used to play fantasy football and someone wanted to trade me three guys for my good WR, I already had guys on my bench just as good as those three guys so I was just offered more crap. Or when I was a kid and went trick or treating, some houses gave a handful of generic crappy candy, some gave one full size Snickers... What do you think I wanted? ?

Hate this trade, got a pile of crud for him. Give me one for one and it's a good trade, not a pile of crap. Bummer sucked lately, but he has a great arm with a high ceiling. Don't get excited by this.

I will probably go to one game in July (aftermarket cheap ticket) just to satisfy my love for baseball. No more merchandise/hats, God no, embarrassed to wear the stuff I already own.
