What is the difference between Tauchman/Slater and Colas/Canario? Two wins maybe? I’d rather see what Colas/Canario could actually do (even if they both bust) than hope Tauchman/Slater return a couple 24 year old A ball relievers at the deadline. This team is losing around 100 games either way.

Just so they could buy some more time. Perhaps an OF injury comes up in ST to make room for Canario on the 26-man roster?

Kind of funny that a bad 100 loss team should be playing younger guys rather than vets and this team is looking at a RF platoon of Tauchman/Slater when it could have have easily been Colas/Canario. I still don’t understand the strategy here…

Would Getz dare cut Fletcher or Colas to make room for Canario on the 40-man? Colas definitely doesn’t appear to be a favorite by any means and both guys are close to aging out of chances. Canario at least still has youth on his side, and more power potential than both Colas and Fletcher.

LOL, they are basically the same guy. Good hitters in the minors who can’t do it in the majors and have bad gloves. But Getz directly acquired Vargas.

Yup. He would be a perfect platoon partner for Tauchman in RF if you are intent on playing Tauchman to begin with. Getz should still grab Canario, regardless of his hastiness in signing Slater.

This is a no brainer, and even if it costs a low level prospect it should still happen. You need to add power in the outfield, and this guy has it. Worth a shot.

We shouldn’t even have to wonder. Getz definitely should be on the phone if he wasn’t already. The current plan is to give an old man platoon the majority of at bats in RF which makes zero sense.

Agreed 100%. He’s still only 24. He should be on the White Sox by the end of the week. I would be very upset to see that Getz would trade young A ball pitchers for older relievers but not for a 24 year old outfield prospect.

The Sox are on their second rebuild in 9 years since the first one started in 2016. They have had only 2 winning seasons and 2 immediate playoff exits in these past 9 years. That’s isn’t due to lack of a revenue sharing model. The Sox aren’t competitive because the owner and people he put in charge are terrible at their jobs. Other teams have been more successful than the Sox with less money. There is no secret culprit when it comes to the Sox not being competitive enough.

Reinsdorf created the negative narrative — a 41-121 record, the most losses of any major league club since 1900. The 2025 team is potentially looking at another 100 losses. There is no wishing for failure. There currently IS failure and it’s the direct result of a terrible owner, not these “fake Sox fans” that you are trying to blame things on. Fans don’t build the team or choose to tank and rebuild repeatedly because they want to be cheap and save money. That is the direct decision of the man in charge.

Well, the irony is that Hahn managed to extend most of the Sox young players that were expected to become stars. The problem was that they didn’t all become stars due to injuries or other factors, or perhaps they just weren’t that good to begin with. However, per Getz’s recent comments, it sounds like the Sox won’t be using Hahn’s strategy of locking up young players until they truly prove themselves to be high quality players. But if you wait until young players prove themselves to be really good, are they still going to sign team-friendly extensions at that point or just wait until they hit free agency?

A player will give credit to his coaches all the time, even when the coaches suck. That’s just called being a good and PC teammate. Regarding your second paragraph, no, I don’t assume success considering the Sox poor track record. But that sure was a funny way to frame it.

I don’t think it’s a crazy argument. Do guys that are aces or potential aces need that much development time or do they just always have the talent and would be good without much or any guidance? Sale and Crochet had just over 10 innings in the minors before they were called up. Both were good in the majors immediately. Obviously, they are getting mentored by a pitching coach during those 10 innings or so in the minors and then in the majors, but are there just some starters with such good stuff and command/control that they would be successful with or without much development or mentoring?
