Agreed, I think the offers during last offseason were one team’s high-end prospect like Arroyo from the Reds for example but Getz wanted more.

Great point. Even if trading him after 2023 wasn’t realistic like @Y2Jimmy0 says, he should have definitely been traded during last offseason. Now, Robert’s value has dropped even lower. Does anything think the offers for Robert during last offseason were worse than they are going to be at the trade deadline? I believe the rumors were that Getz wanted at least two of a team’s top prospects for Robert, but teams were only offering one. Well, good luck even getting one now…

I think that might be what he is getting at. I seem to remember Harold loving Caglianone prior to the 2014 draft.

I never said they should have waited to trade Cease. I was saying that I doubt whatever Getz could have traded Robert for after the 2023 season would have gotten him eviscerated, considering the poor Cease trade hasn’t.

Well, the Cubs didn’t win any WS with a roided up Sosa. TLR won three total WS — one with the Bash Brothers and two with Pujols.

I’m sure this won’t be fun to watch…

I’m not so sure about this. I doubt the return would have been worse than the Cease trade, and Getz is still surviving that one.
