  1. Jeebus Lice... remember when Harper and Machado could’ve been signed for $330 to $350 million? “Yankees, Mets up Juan Soto bids north of $700 million as his historic free agency nears end“ Juan Soto doesn’t remember or care… Neither does stupid cheap Jerry.
  2. I don’t believe Mellody Hobson’s percentage of ownership in the White Sox has ever been made public so I’m not sure how you are throwing this out there?
  3. Even that deal is a bit shady. Better cuz it’s only 3 years but take a look at O’Neill’s “consistency” or lack thereof over the past few years. I think his deal and Benintendi’s deal will both look bad by the end of next season.
  4. Instead, it was spread out over the years to Keuchel, Grandal, Hendriks, and Benintendi. Wise decisions over just signing Machado or Harper. Quantity over quality is not always better, which is something Jerry has never quite figured out. Four players that everyone wanted to cut up to years before their contracts were up over two players that are still earning their pay, Jerry sure knows how to make money but he is pretty damn clueless at baseball.
  5. I agree that I wouldn’t pay Adames that much money. However, I think you are underestimating MLB free agency money… Francisco Lindor was #3 in fWAR last year among all MLB shortstops, just above Adames, and he signed with the Mets in 2021 for 10-years and $341 million. That’s almost twice as much total money as what Adames just signed for. This Adames contract looks like a steal compared to that deal.
  6. Sorry, corrected my post. I was mixing up Miller with Painter.
  7. I couldn’t pass on that second offer. But I’d also jump at Painter and Crawford. Not sure the Phillies would offer either duo for Crochet.
  8. Agreed, but one of my favorite players of all time is Mike Cameron right before he was traded for Konerko. Speed, defense, and would hit some bombs. Let’s get more players like that.
  9. Agreed. They could still deal Montgomery though. Anthony is the guy they are keeping fo sho.
  10. Great thread, haha. It’s amazing that I’m old enough in my mid 40’s to remember and have seen the following in my lifetime: * black and white tube TVs * Harry Caray with the Cubs * black boxes * Sportsvision * Hawk and Wimpy * Flat screen HD TVs * And now, can stream any game, show, or movie over the Internet for free on TV’s, computers, tablets, and phones Technology is the s%*#.
  11. As in Kjerstad? I kinda hope that ship has sailed. Kjerstad has 5 years of control left and also turns 26 before next season begins. He has almost aged out to be a truly preferable trade target for the White Sox with where their timeline is at to be competitive again.
  12. Thanks for doing his work for him. Hopefully he can ingest this helpful information on why Adames is a good player. Trying to understand MLB contracts is a whole different story. But if they can afford to pay players this much, think about how much MLB teams are making from their own profits, as well as revenue sharing.
  13. Agreed, but there isn’t much of a reason to watch Benintendi get at bats either.
  14. Yep, so it wasn’t bad enough that he was a terrible player… the dude had an ego and thought he was the s%*#. What a tool… Madrigal would have to have a 50 year career to finish with 3,000 hits.
  15. The Sox have never spent more than $75 million on a free agent. So why would I think they should or would sign Adames? I didn’t. This isn’t that difficult to comprehend, unless you are living in a fantasy land with a new White Sox owner that spends money. ‘Nuff said.
  16. C’mon poppy, the Sox knew they made a mistake drafting Madrigal and sold him high for Kimbrel (or at least they thought so at the time). The Cubs just non-tendered him. That trade ended up being a bust for both teams. Kimbrel sucked and both Madrigal and Codi Heuer are no longer Cubs. What do you still see in Madrigal that makes you think he is a good player? It’s pretty obvious that he’s not the next coming of Nellie Fox. He’s no better than awful Nicky Lopez. Did you love what you saw from Little Nicky last season? The Sox non-tendered his ass too.
  17. Agreed. Makes sense to me. Also makes an opening in LF for a younger outfielder (Colas, DeLoach, etc.).
  18. He might never out OPS Seby Zavala in the majors. 🤣
  19. I hope he’s right. It would be nice to have an above average CF once Robert is traded for peanuts.
  20. I’d take him for Benintendi just because it would be one less year of a bad contract. It seems like people are missing this. Three more years of garbage Benintendi or two more years of garbage Walker? Benintendi does nothing for the Sox the next three years. And how would Benintendi have to perform for some team to actually pick up most of his contract in a salary dump trade?
  21. I think it’s where the Sox will be shopping until Jerry is gone, regardless of where the team is at competitively. I think it’s funny that you would assume I thought the Sox should’ve been looking to sign Adames. Even if they were competitive, the Sox aren’t spending $182 million on anyone any time soon. 5-years / $75 million. Record-setting. ‘Nuff said…
  22. Where did I ever say that this signing would make sense for the Sox? Jerry and Getz will be sticking with the bargain bin regardless of the situation.
  23. Look beyond errors. Gunnar Henderson had 25 errors last year — would you want him? Also, a .766 OPS from a SS is good, especially one that provides both power and good defense. He’s put up 21.5 WAR in his career. Some people thought Tim Anderson was a star and he has a lifetime .718 OPS. But I’m sure Jerry would agree with your thoughts on free agent spending.
  24. He’s averaged 4 WAR each year throughout his career. But yes, the money is bonkers. Jerry and Getz will be sticking with the bargain bin.
