To me, that’s the most promising tidbit from this handshake agreement news with Braston Basker. The news was that the Sox are expected to sign Dominican shortstop prospect Basker for a $6 million bonus as early as January 15, 2030. As you mentioned, JR has never agreed with throwing millions at a “kid”. This seems to hint that Ishbia would be paying for this kid if Jerry agrees to sell the team to him in the first year of the agreement (2029).

Of course it’s a strategy that should be employed by the Sox. My post didn’t criticize the Sox front office over the signing. My point was that it’s difficult enough to project sure-fire major leaguers out of the MLB Draft even in early rounds, much less a 12-year old international kid.

And then predicting that a 12-year old will be a sure-fire major leaguer in 10 years. Wow.

Haha, I guess everything is perspective. Now imagine being a fan of a team that has gone 162-324 over the last 3 seasons and doesn’t have a single player anywhere near as good as Jose Ramirez. Sox fans should get the entire Tribune and Sun Times to air their complaints, not just one page. 🤣

I believe teams can actually request to play more day games but it is ultimately up to the MLB to approve scheduling. It’s all in the CBA. Night games obviously make more money which is why they are the majority. But day games at The Rate are like a ghost town.

The Sox play night games because they don’t draw enough for more day games like the Cubs. It’s as simple as that. It’s not that Sox fans enjoy night games more. Jerry is all about the dollar. He’s not worried about what Sox fans want. If Jerry truly cared about what fans think, he wouldn’t be throwing a team out there that is almost perpetually rebuilding and that has lost 100+ games in 3 straight seasons. Like you said, “These billionaires are not foolish.” That includes Jerry.

The Sox are signing McClung out of retirement, along with bringing back Clevinger for the fourth straight year so that shareholder bro has buddies to party with.
